Emails a-comin'!

OK, a reversal on my part -- sorry for the original post earlier today saying that no emails would be sent today, but I have some good news to share:

The first batch of Beta confirmation emails are going to be sent today! Please note that this is only a confirmation that you have been accepted into the Beta -- the build is still in certification and won't be ready to launch until next week at the earliest. Unfortunately, no one will be playing the game this weekend, but at least some of you will know that you've have been accepted into the test.

We should have the emails out by late afternoon or early evening. This will be the first of three waves, so if you don't get an email today, that's not necessarily a bad sign -- there are still two more rounds of confirmations coming, and they'll be sent after the long weekend.

And if you DO get an email, well then, congratulations! You'll be joining us when the Beta launches in the next several days.

It is probably randomized based on certain criteria, what those are I can only guess. I would assume (for the first wave at least) one of those criteria would be a US-based IP Address.

long weekend is referring to the fact that the weekend is 3 days instead of 2, because of the holiday on the 3rd of sep.

it will most likely start on the 4th or 5th.

"Gamers can also join the beta test by pre-ordering the game at select retailers. Those gamers who pre-order the game will be guaranteed a slot in the beta test and will be given instructions for joining the beta test during the second phase beginning in mid-September."

There are two beta phases. One done by sign up and one done by pre-ordering.

BUT there are three waves of e-mails for the first phase. The first went out on Friday, the second maybe coming today and the third coming on Friday (maybe).

But the reason for doing the emails in waves might be to spread out the number of people that downloads the client once it becomes available.
And if that is the case it will mean that, until the beta starts no more mails will be sent and the next wave will first be sent after a number of people have downloaded the client.

I'd assume they would send out a "Your in the second wave" email sometime after the first wave started, even if not enough people downloaded the client. It's the "Here's what you do" email that probably won't drop for a while.

I might of made it in too. 2.8ghz p4 processor with 6800 nvida geforce top of the line and 1.5 gb ram with 8 gb of Page file RAM. No, nothing amazing, 32 bit windows vista and windows xp dual boot, but I can run World in conflict on the highest settings without any lag, same with command and conquer. :)

Well I got my email on Aug 31st and all I have is a 4200+ With 2 gigs of ram and an old 6600 NVidia.
So I don't know about the speed thing, don't remember if they asked what internet connection you had though, that may make a difference too.
