The science walker is considered a "tech" walker, it carries less hardpoints but more fire power. Also the walkers are not limited to one role by their type.

no, you can have 3 walkers. So, either one of each, or mix and match, or go all for one. The science walker is also fragile, but it does have some mean tricks.
