Can't access Multiplayer

I don't know if it's a GFW Live problem ( I've tried two different accounts ) but even when I login, all multiplayer options are greyed out. What can I do to actually play?

I've done the same. I created an account seperate from my normal Windows LIVE account, which then logged in but the buttons were all greyed out. My normal Live account won't log in at all.

Thanks for reporting this. Can you fill out the form when you close the client? That way it'll get to the dev team more quickly!

No joy. My account is preexisting, and it has worked just fine on my XBox and the browser for over a year. This appears to either be the client or Games for Windows Live.

I've tried getting into Multiplayer, but I can't, the game completely freezes during the "Connecting" bit to Live after I click on Custom Game, then the game Crashes to Desktop... What could be causing this? I have a preexsisting XBL account.

I got smart and took screenshots!

I had a similar error, I never found a solution for this other than having a friend make me a window's live account. Sorry I can't be more use there.



Anyone who has issues with making a window live account, the solution the is most efficient currently is yahoo accounts. Windows seems to accept them. <_<

I don't come here too often, but you can catch me on the petroglyph forums. I tend to answer more questions there.

Please go onto Petroglyph forums and post your problem and the error number. Only a developer would understand it. Sorry I can't be more use.

I believe the tip suggested before was to reinstall, which is what I'm attempting to do now. I'll let you know if it is successful.

Didn't fix the problem, but it didn't crash as quickly. I'm going to do some additional checking on my end.

I`m not quite sure what is up with my experience thus far. I will say I thus far prefer direct connects and low-footprint game matching schemes to XBox LIVE.

I *may* have an existing profile on XBox LIVE, or somehow through a higher level of the XBox service. I`m honestly not too sure.

Yahoo?!? Where does Yahoo come into this? It doesn`t need to get more complicated, although I absolutely applaud somebody`s fortune for attaining gameplay by such a route.

"Server unavailable," is my bane...

Bug report sent, will keep checking forums. I must say I have a fair degree of anticipation for experiencing the differences between the factions, thats for sure. I just can`t!

It seems to work for me now. Thanks to Potato-PG for the threads that led to messing with drivers.

The apparent fix seems to be as follows:
Update network drivers.
Attempt to log in.
Continue attempts until it works.
Your home free!

I can log on my xbox live / windows live account just fine outside the game but in game i can't.

I CAN if i cereate a new account but the options for playing the actual game are all greyed out.

Personally (for my problem) I`ve sent a couple of messages off to Petroglyph (I think...), so I`m hoping I can send them some snaps I took of relevant informational screens; some info included there I don`t want posted, necessarily.

Its my hope that with these screens some technical folk may be able to guide me to salvation... urr, I mean a solution.

Gotta turn off all firewalls to allow it through, at least that was my personal experience. Port forwarding what's listed for UDP ports didn't seem to work. There also really ought to be a better display of when you're connected to live and when you're not. Occasionally I found, even with my firewall off, that live disconnects sometimes right after I've connected, or pretends to connect. The way I eventually did it was to go to "Guide" option, create a new profile, have it fail to connect, then select the sign up for live which pops you out to a browser, sign up for live with my hotmail account, get past the spam about offers and gold membership (nuts to that), and then re-open UaW and try a few times to connect and then try to catch it into the custom game option before live disconnects.

Sounds like a possibility. How do I turn off the router firewall? I have a D-Link broadband device.

I certainly do not want to maintain a router with the firewall off - kind of defeats the purpose of a router such as this - but I can at least see 1.) if the LIVE account problem is due to the firewall and 2.) if after re-enabling the firewall I can get into the game.

I thought I read somewhere about a patch for the beta coming soon... did I? Curious.

Same freaking problem here. I have the Multiplayer option with all other options ghosted. When I click on multiplayer nothing happens.

i got an answer just clear out all of your gamertag things, reput them on, and thats how i ungreyed mine! let me know of feedback on that idea!

clear out all the names you have on the game already. (step by step)

log out if ur logged in
go to guide
go to log in
press y to delete profiles
delete them all
get out of that screen
go back to log in
either make a new one or do the search for a present account
once you have that, log in and it should work.

"The LIVE service is not available. Try again later....." I can get beyond this.

I give up.

After insuring my Windows firewall was disabled (as it always is) I physically disconnected my router, connecting to the Interlag directly. Rebooted. In or out of the game, same thing when I try to register on LIVE: server unavailable etc. .

I regret my beta testing is restricted only to LIVE instead of to the game. Oh well - I`ll keep checking for patches or somesuch, although I suspect by now the beta testing period is almost over.

Well, sifting through Q&A postings is fine to a considerable extent on betas - I`m sure you already agree - but I just have nothing left to fiddle about with.

The recent announcement by Microsoft of a 1.2 update for LIVE in November is good, but likely too late for the beta test. (?)

I guess you could say I am neither miffed nor amused - I am neutral. I regret I did not play UaW, but on the other hand I served a purpose in helping to reveal flaws with the LIVE service as it begins to support PCs.

Again, I shall haunt these parts now and again to check for solutions or code changes.
