Let me start by saying, Holy Crap.
So me and OpDDay2001 decided we where going to test out some of the hierarchy medals to see if we could make a list of imbalances, then decided what paths we where going to go down. We didn't use the resource medal cus we already knew it was broken, and we both used the plasma upgrade medal (Actually, he went for the generic Armor upgrade), i went for Hero speed and Brute health, and he went for Socket and something else
Well, turns out all those work just fine for the most part.
At any rate, the medals ended up being a mute point. He went down the quantum tree and i went down mutagen. This ended up deciding the next hour and a half of our lives.
As we started, i took the economic advantage by grabbing every cow on the map in short order while he built up his forces. He built one of each walker and moved forward while my single habitat walker moved forward at the same time. They tore him up then kept walking without killing him, and they went on there separate ways to kill our respective arrival sites. Finally, after much running around and blowing stuff up, our walkers all collided in gruesome combat. By this point, i had already intercepted and murdered most, if not all, of his reapers and all but a single glyph carver, who died later without accomplishing anything.
Well, i took down one walker, then half way through killing the other, a mishap occurred and the walker dematerialized into thin air as his owner accidentally sold it. Then it was two on one, he killed one of my assembly walkers, now had one more and a habitat walker for his lone science walker to take on. The science walker had gone fully up the tech tree and had three target jammers and three magnets. So without thinking i brought in my saucers to heal myself with, which he promptly stole. The science walkers gun simply tears the armor right off other walkers, and without much trouble either.
The science walker then simply murdered both walkers without much trouble, then proceeded to take out my second arrival site. Still having reapers, i managed to survive. Those saucers i mentioned ended up getting traded a lot between the two of us during the battle until i simply killed them, and the last one i turned to aggressive mode so it could not heal any longer while captive.
But the onslaught did not stop here. He had a single walker, a science walker, and nothing else but a map drone and a glyph carver and no money to his name. Before long i dryed up all of the maps resources.. how?
Because this lone death machine killed not one or two walkers, but through out the course of our match, single handedly killed no less than 10 walkers. Ten walkers! Assembly walkers and Habitat walkers alike, with all kinds of variants of hard points and attachments! Everything from extra shielding to enhanced attacks. Each walker fell one by one.
Eventually i got him in a rough spot and killed off two of the magnets and two of the jammers and two legs, this slowed him down quite enough. But his onslaught continued. Now, this walker didn't have unlimited health, oh no, but that shield of his kept recharging and those saucers, while they where around (and mine) kept repairing him.
Now around walker six, the resources had mostly dried up and i had just lost the last of my reapers to his onslaught, he tried to take them over so i had them put to death. I built, with the last of my cash, a single grunt. This grunt saved the game for me as he took over both the Oil Refineries just in time for me to continue building my walkers, and eventually one more reaper.
My walkers where now expendable foot soldiers, ready to die in rank and file.
Around walker seven, a weird thing happened, i destroyed the final leg on the science walker and BOOM! The walker sped up instead of slowed down. He was everywhere at that point, killing both the derricks. Walker 9 was the last stand walker, but he went down and i just managed to get Walker 10 up. Now, this maniac machine with only one hard point and a strange recharging shield left faced off against a fully decked plasma walker. With my last arrival site gone, it was finally one on one. In a stroke of luck, the plasma volleys out did the shields recharge rate, and finally, that 18% health that walker had maintained for so long dropped down to zero, and the walker exploded. It was like i had just beaten the final boss in a video game.
Exploits/bugs found:
1. Brutes can jump over kamals wall
2. Units can be summoned past kamals wall via walker teleportation. Quite funny actually.
3. Not sure if this is a bug or imbalance or fine, but these two brutes simply murdered kamal rex in just a few quick hits.
4. Science walker totally bugged to hell, does all kinds of wierd things. However this time it was not the invulnerability glitch, but something else... sheer power maybe.
5. Walker got trapped by trying to travel up a hill, then down a hill. Then got stuck when trying to travel across open terrain.
6. Reapers can suck up enemy glyphs. Which is totally hilarious.
7. One of my Radiation Warheads simply stayed on the map for like 15 minutes until it was destroyed.
8. Science walker has a shotgun effect (explained better in OpDDay2001's post.)
9. Research medal broken a bit. Its faster than it says.
10. Fog murders glyphs.
We believe it was the combination of the Generic Armor medal, Quantum Tech Tree, and Socket medal, added to the Science Walkers natural prowess, that allowed it to become the fabled Uber Walker.
