I'm thinking about entering. I just have to find a partner I click with. Of course, my decks are spectacular like some I've seen, but I've mastered what I have. If I don't enter, I'll probably watch.

yeah i wanna enter, BUT those ppl @ sega didnt think when they picked a date cuz it was ment for the entrie world but when it finishes EU still wont have ep3 :(
but then, i have both US and JP import so i dont really care LOL.
anyway sega should keep some releasedates in mind next time the plan something like this cuz alot of ppl cant join the so-called "world tournament" now and that SUCKS

Hey, armion, what is your name on episode 3? mine is Joshua, if I see you on around Vega, we can hook up, and you can test my skill. If at anything you'll get a good warm up. Right?

JoshuaZero
05-28-2004, 11:42 AM
Can you join this from anywhere online?

armion
05-28-2004, 12:47 PM
Well, I play as myself for all games. I'm Armion on all episodes.

It might be going on a special tournament ship. If not, they'll let us know a few days before the tournament starts. *Looks at date* Not much time, must practice team gameplay. Hunters or Arkz, tech based or melee, theme or regular. Decisions, decisions.

jeffy
05-28-2004, 03:18 PM
Hmm...I don't know if I'll enter this tournament, I know I'll end up dragging my teammate down and we'll lose for sure. I think I'll just watch, unless I find a good teammate then maybe I'll join the tournament. Maybe I should go practice, just in case I do decide to join.

Armion, if you want I'll team with you for the Gather Cup. I don't have anyone to team with yet, either. I can pretty much adapt to any strategy you can think of, and I've got alot of good ideas as well.

DarkTorrent
05-28-2004, 04:29 PM
they've gotta be kidding about those times though.. cause that means some of us that live in the US have to get on at like 6AM just to play the stupid tournament.. and then for the finals it's like 4AM. They REALLY did not think it through. I would join if the time wasn't so early.

windoflife
05-28-2004, 08:44 PM
This is what I think...

Even if I can make time for the preliminary, when it is final... I will be barely awake, and my thinknig process will drop a grade during that moment... giving the opponent alot of edges... So, it would just be an unfair match due to psycological problems.

It will become more burden than fun... So I think I probably pass the tourny... I may want to join preliminary just to play some people, also hoping to see some interesting decks...

armion
05-29-2004, 05:29 PM
Well, it's based in Japan, and the tournament takes place during prime PSO time for them. I guess all the praticing US players are doing is to hone there strategies. I've heard watching will be prohibited to stop "coaching" But, I guess it's a rumor.

Phoenixphire, I'd be glad to team up with you. I just have to remind myself to be ready for battle during that point in time.

When you guys have time... go look at what psoworld have psoted (the prize... rule, and how you going to team up in final).

Vahagn500
05-30-2004, 03:49 PM
Well.. good luck guys, I hope you all have keyboard for this event because in a team game it is essential to communicate as clearly and as fast as possible.

Low dice rolls wont be such a killer here it seems since minimum is 3

DarkTorrent
05-30-2004, 04:05 PM
actually, some of us can occasionally play well together without speaking. I do it all the time, though I do like to chatter anyways. I don't have a keyboard though.. I don't see a need for it right now. If I have to say something to my partner, then I'll usually say it during the opponent's turn while they're taking their time.

Ugh, I read the times, and Central Time (my time), it's from 9 to 11 (or 8 to 11, I forgot), and those are school hours. To make it worse, the very last day of the Gather Cup is so luckily the very last day of school for me. I'm unable to join, and I'm mad as heck about it. Sorry.:(

JoshuaZero
05-30-2004, 07:49 PM
Armion, if you still need a partner I am out there, I am a pretty good lucky charm, and my skills aren't bad, just some of my cards aren't top notch, actually most of em...

Vahagn500
05-30-2004, 08:10 PM
Ehe.. a lucky charm

armion
05-30-2004, 08:15 PM
Well, that's too bad, PP. Maybe next time.

JoshuaZero, I'm willing to give it a try. I'm not the best myself, and my cards and decks aren't based on any advanced strategies, so we can probably relate. I'm going to on the EU ships in a few. I want to test out my new deck in a team situation. Who knows, maybe we'll get the upset victory this time around.

JoshuaZero
05-30-2004, 09:16 PM
An upset eh? with the rules for the tourny I'll be fine, sounds really good, so we need a time to meet, by eastern time would be helpful.

armion
05-31-2004, 09:48 PM
Just a thought, let's say we win this thing. Wouldn't that make a large amount of users seek us out to beat us. Tournament champions get that kind of attention. I'm all for going the distance, but I hope we don't get famous by it. Going to practicing on Polaris tonight, gotta a few bugs to work out.

For PSOboards!

DarkTorrent
06-01-2004, 12:52 PM
hehe.. better watch out now.. I'm gonna be joining in on this. It's at 7AM for me, but since I work graveyard shift until 6AM... it's perfect time.. I can get home, practice and then head into the tournament.. and I've already got a partner, so mwahahaha!

JoshuaZero

I still dont know where we go to do the prelimenaries, I still have to meet up with Armion as well...... Why are the Japaneese so like self centered? We still have minimal info on it...

armion
06-01-2004, 04:35 PM
I'll be in Polaris 1 most of today. I've got some serious practice to do, I hope to see you around.

JoshuaZero
06-01-2004, 05:59 PM
Sorry, could play much today, looked for you on polaris, but hey I will be at the prelimenaries tomorrow hope to see you there.

JoshuaZero
06-01-2004, 06:44 PM
When you select the prelimenary ship armion from the Japanese server, pick the third one if its free. I will be trying to go there. I will need your guild card when we get there ok? Hope to see you there, and hope you get this.

I hear there will be a new ship and block come out for tournament... when u go on it (and register for tournament), u will current rank will change into your tournament preliminary rank. You must get 32 or higher to enter final. If you are are one of the finalist, you will have to go talk to the official on the finalist block to register your team into the final with your partner...

Might as well go read www.planetdreamcast.com/psoworld on their news... it posted how it works.

To all the people who are participating: I wish you the best of luck and do your best. I wish I could go cheer everyone on, but I heard people aren't allowed to watch, so I'll cheer you on in spirit.

JZ, it looks like US players are not eligible to participate in G-1. I've gotten a few pm's about US players getting no gather points, and some not even being able to locate GP tournaments at all. Only JP players are able to enter. Language changing does not allow you to enter either. Though it may be a fluke, US players who want to enter may not be able to do so this time around. It could clear up tomorrow, but US players will be at a severe disadvantage. I'm going to stick around the servers and keep my ear to the ground on any official word.

nope US players cannot participate at all in the cup,not only are the prizes japan only but the tourney itself is only for them, as was the same for ripples but it got distrubited on the US side with no translation for the japanese language.

JoshuaZero
06-02-2004, 08:15 AM
I am afraid from what I heard, the official word from Sonic team is that US participants can not possibly win, and the fluke isnt a fluke. So I guess this whole tourny was neverment for us, starting with the times. I aint mad though, I dont want yen, or japaneese magazines. I did get to play some pretty good players, but then most stopped :?: :?: :?: Well sorry for everyone who was looking to be a Japaneese hero, maybe next time we"ll be included. As for Armion, I can't even find you on choice search lol.

armion
06-02-2004, 08:29 AM
Yeah, I figured that out when no announcement was made. Only thing we have is the G-1 practice map. Probably would have been a lopsided tournament if the US players were able to enter anyhow. Oh, well, I did get to try out some new things. I know I'm going to have some pretty ticked off private messages when people read the bad news.

Well, maybe the next tourney will be really World-Wide, US and EU players included.

JoshuaZero
06-02-2004, 08:35 AM
Hey armion, next time you are going to be on tell me. You are the only person from the boards I cant seem to find. I even tracked down Mr. Crono by accident. What are you hiding man?! lol just messing with you, but it would be nice to play with a man of mystery :D .

jeffy
06-02-2004, 09:36 AM
Well that was kinda short lived now wasn't it? Maybe next time, we'll be included in the next tournament and maybe I'll enter it.

Maybe next time Sega will release a game in Europe before America and Japan. Maybe they'll be fair to everyone. Highly unlikely.
I love Sega/Sonic Team, I really do. But it's things like this that make me angry at them and not play online. I've only just got back online and only because I probably won't even have the choice for the next few months. PSO doesn't thrill me anymore, now I know Sega doesn't care about anyone but the JP players. This proves it.

JoshuaZero
06-02-2004, 10:13 AM
well that is why I am trying to get into Halo2 online I have it reserved. Its US run baby so we get all the stuff first.

Maybe I should copy and paste what I post in psoworl... yes... i will do that... save me some times...

<Copy>
I have been surfing around the lobby and viewing battles for couple hours...

I did see some E player having their gather cup rank thou... There were also some special tourny that you had to enter, with the name G-Cup or something like that. Playing in regular tournament that was called solo or team wont give you any Gather points.
Now, did the US version players actually got some gather points? I dont know...

after going through countless viewing, there were only 1 group deck that impressed me... it was kind of sad that 50-60% of people that made into final round of any tourny are using machine deck or rather a little customized machine deck that based off the oringinal... So, there werent too many variety.

Anyhow, I repected the people that at least play in the first ship... Where most people are, and then there are those com bashers in every other ship... ST really should have made it 1 ship and 4-6 blocks...

Oh yea, I got to see a SONICTEAM member for a sec =D with orange name SONICTEAM and a FOnewm in white. (yea no biggy...)

Well i kinda thought that this would be jp leading in the ranks but i never thought that st would completely not allow any us players to even try... really makes me wish i got the jp version imported at the start. but i guess it soesnt matter all that much since my partner still has school...

Vahagn500
06-02-2004, 03:20 PM
Wow.. that is so freaking lame. I can't believe they would do this to their US players. WHo the hell is running sonic team? This is so stupid, it's even racist if you want to look at it that way.

I would be even more :):):):)ed if I were planning to participate, man sorry guys, though luck : /

armion

It was never meant to be worldwide. I read that the G-1 was japanese oriented since it was announced. The company theat sponsered the tournament is Japanese. Unless a US company steps up and offers to sponser the event, we'll just have to hope we are included, even if the chances are slim. Remember Maximum Attack 2 was a limited contest, we could get involved and reap online rewards, but the JP players got better ones, because of the sponser's region.

Edit: I got a pm a few min. ago. He says that US players were able to articipate, and gather points were being given out. His reasoning said that to find and GP tournaments and gain GP you had to be on during within minutes of the addition of the ships. Although I was there, I didn't see anything to back up the claim, but I'm going to try again tomorrow. From what he says many members of a pso fansite were able to enter, so it is worth checking out, though he never said if he was a JP importer. :|

(I'll put which ship I'm on in my signature. Well, where I'm starting from, anyhow.)

06-02-2004, 08:45 PM
well I got into it.. not sure if it was official or what-not, but I won 3 of the tournaments with my parntner, so I racked up a hefty amount of points, IF they were added to me at all. We'll just see... I doubt it though.. I think we should rally up some people to get EGM to sponsor a PSO Grand Tournament so the US can play properly.

UPDATE:

At 11:30PM PST, US users who logged on witnessed something. Above there heads, instead of a regular rank, was the G1/Cup rank. I am not clear on what happened, but I too have the rank above my head. Whether or not this signals US players full access or not is unsaid, but why knock it? The test comes during the actual hours of the Cup, and whether any progress is made by any non-importing US player. Don't get your hopes up too high, we have a little time before the opening hours.

Hey JZ, want to give it another go? Just for the sake of finding the answer?
