For those still following the progress of PSU, you are in for a treat. The website has been updated, with screens, basic information, and a information about the characters. The story is there, (in japanese).
http://phantasystaruniverse.com/
In the special section, you can suggest what things are added (to the site) and give 'Special Voice' to your concerns and questions.
Though many will be displeased about the game offhand, the site rings true that this game will live up to the Phantasy Star name.

Wow, very cool. I was starting to get nervous that they might not follow through. I'm very excited to see screenshots. Maybe I've just been playing PSO too much lately, but it surprised me to see characters with individual fingers! I've been playing a ton of old DOS games, and such lately, and it shows. :D
Site looks very cool! Hopefully, they'll translate it very soon; I can't read Japanese.

Question: Where did their lovely trailer go that was once so easy to find on the PSU site? I was all ready to show it to a friend, but I had no luck finding it.
You can get the trailer from other game sites like ign, or gamespot.

The current issue of EGM has a 4 page preview of PSU. That and the Shadow the Hedgehog game. Get it, it describes alot.

well they showed how one of the bosses will look online on the EGM magazine, the dragon will be with 2 heads instead of one in online mode, that will be pretty intense.

For PSU, there's a single player offline game, as well as a completely separate online game, meaning you can't transfer items and such from your offline characters to your online ones. Although there might be some exceptions to this. EGM mentioned the option to decorate the offline main character's home with furniture and such, and you might be able to swap decorating items online. Personally, I think that's a pretty neat (yet odd) idea. :)
Also, offline characters are pre-set, while online characters creatable from scratch.

Oh my goodness, there is player houses to decorate. Thats cool. Is the player houses just offline or is it online too.

Apparently you are able to collect items both online and offline for your house, however whether or not other people online can see your house is still unknown.

It seems like a complete waste to me to have this great home that you can never invite any over to hang out in, heh. I hope they are implementing it into online. I understand why they would want to keep the characters and storyline as separate as possible. To me, it seems very hard to have an engaging and evolving storyline in an online game, but smaller gameplay features, like the houses, should definitely be in both. :)

They said there would be player-controlled vehicles. It would be cool to park one of those into your house online ;)

winter 2006 ps2 :?

By winter 2006, that refers to the first 3 months in 2006. Although many people tend to think Winter falls at the end of the year (in which it does), it doesn't actually start until late December. When games have a release date set for the winter, it usually refers to the months of January or February, in this case, other sites have posted a release date of February 2006.

It has been confirmed that the game will release February 16, 2006 in Japan for both the PS2 and PC. An American release is still unknown. Considering translation and voice acting that needs to be done, I would guess anywhere between mid - Spring and Q4 2006. That being from about May to December, sucks we will have to wait, but maybe it will be an easy import. Now personally, I'll gladly enjoy subtitles just so that I can get the game earlier, but if they demand on putting in english vocals, I'll gladly wait the extra time to make sure those vocals are good. One thing that kills a game for me is terrible voice acting and this is something Sega is no stranger to.
