Are you as paranoid as me about having your legs shot away?
If so how do you guard against it?
Personally i use naqas on virtually every build with an Armadillo style crotch guard, possibly a result of my excessive cannon use.

So you reduce your speed and potential hitting power by making a cup basically? Not sure if that is the best idea. It works in some instances, but in others, I'd rather go for speed and dodging ability. Plus, the more parts you have the more that get splashed. Once they pop, that's more splash damage going to your pit. Honestly I would say don't worry so much and instead try going for more kill power.

Well I would defiantly disagree with that assessment. Firepower is always at the forefront of my mind, and being a cannon/naqa pilot speed will not be changed. In most of my designs it is actually cockpit durability that is chopped to some degree (I know many will regard this as a hanging offense but i prefer more firepower to the wonderful ability of limping round the field with no parts left)
Regardless im guessing what you were trying to get across is "speed = Armour" Whenever I run these sort of builds my legs tend to pop, possibly due to inexperience with that type.

No. more my point was that the more parts you have, the more danger splash damage is.
Think of it this way, you have a missile counter to hold the armor in place correct? That missile counter will splash in 2, maybe 3 vollies from a howie hound. After that point, any additional splash damage transfers to the pit itself. Now, if I also splash off the armor, the same occurs. So basically, you increase the chance of being splashed to death, in order to better protect your legs from possible direct fire.
The problem is, naqas are small targets already. Yes the hip section isn't that small, but it is far smaller than say the hips on Garfield or Burns legs. So instead of taking advantage of the natural smaller size, you've instead put a big armor plate down there that says shoot me here. Armor is decent I agree, but a sniper will have a much easier time taking out that piece than your naqas.
So to me, it seems that your armored legs become a larger liability than having tehm exposed.
