Hi, I just got a Broadband Adapter. Im trying to share the internet from my Mac laptop to the Gamecube. When I try Automatic it cant find the IP address, and when I go to manual it asks for the default router. I go into the settings on my Mac and under router it is blank. What is the default router or how can i get the Automatic to work?
Thnx

I didn't think you could use your laptop IP adress. I think you have to run it from your LAN home IP, but idk im not that smart when it comes that, armion could help you.

Automatic should be used when you are connecting directly to a router. Since you are attempting to use your laptop and share the connection, you have a few options open.
You can take the software sharing route, but I'm not familiar with any Mac based sharing software that works flawlessly. You might have to google that.
You can also take the manual approach.
As always, use your spare network setting slot to make changes, and leave your old settings intact.
In your network settings file, change the IP address to manual. You will be enter your localhost information. Since you are sharing this connection, it needs to be 1 digit higher than the actual localhost address itself. 192.157.2.1 would become 192.157.2.2 for example.
Next comes your subnet. You will enter 255.255.255.0 . Now, the next fields will all be your localhost address. The original localhost, not the one with increased value.
Leave PPPoE off, and then save.
Try this, and let us know if you are able to connect.

Are you able to post here with your GCN?
Also, the ip address listed in my post was only an example. Your localhost address may be different. If you need to, check and see if the connection is being accepted by your mac.
I'll see if I can come up with a solution for you; one that will keep your connection stable. I apologize for the inconvenience

When I click on website It says that I am Online, when I click on settings it releases me from the network, But while in the website it says selected URL could not be retrived. This makes me think that I am connected to the Mac but the Gamecube is not getting an internet signal. Here are the Settings on my Gamecube.
IP address - 169.254.134.20
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - 169.254.134.19
Primary DNS - Blank
Sec DNS - Blank

I am still looking for a solution to your problem. I apologize again for the wait.
You are using a wireless router; if so what brand? I'm checking to see if it may be a compatibilty problem.

I have an Apple Airpot Extreme router. When I pluged the gamecube into the router it worked fine, but I still would like to get it to work with laptop internet sharing.

So far, based on my own replications I've been able to get online, albeit not as stable as a direct connection. This is of course using the method posted above.
I did some research, and made some phone calls, and it looks to me if that method does not work, you will need an application to allow internet sharing AND set the GCN as a secondary connection. I will still look around for a better answer.
