In the details, it says "anyone", so I presume that this includes European players as well?
Wow....no. Europeans are not included...of co:):):):) they are! Are you trying to accuse people of being against you for the sole purpose of being in the UK? :?
Given most companies track record with not releasing in the UK, it's not too far a stretch of the imagination. :P
*Still bitter over not getting Space Channel 5 Part 2 on any console whatsoever*
I doubt it, considering that every time before, PSO released ALL their games in Europe.

The server full message seems to appear when people are intentionally being blocked from the game for maintenance purposes. The servers are actually far from full at that time, and do not 'suck'. Otherwise, this message would always appear at peak NA times. Instead, it has shown up at midnight EST before without appearing earlier in the same day. I doubt that more people are logging in at that time.

people who've played a while know the best ways and places to fight, so can clear areas faster, for more XP. It's not hard for some people, in the older versions, to get level 80+ in 2 days.

Think about how many people are taking advantage of this PUBLIC BETA around the globe and I'll tell you time doesn't matter.
Are you suggesting that there are actually more people playing the english version from non-english speaking countries? Because time does matter when this is the english version, a majority of people in largely english speaking countries are asleep, AND there are chinese and japanese versions of the game already running. Since this is the EN version, people in europe will be playing often as well - but when it is nigh midnight here it is at least 5 AM there, at least by east coast US standards.
Also consider the fact that 'server full' messages coincide with people being booted from servers in unusual numbers at the same time (most of the people on the forum referring to server full complain about just booted from the game, and this is the ONLY time I have received this message), and the fact that nobody has been able to get in by repeatedly trying to enter the game at these times. If the server were full, eventually you would get lucky and get back in when someone logged out - but I have yet to see someone say it has worked for them without working for everyone I.E. there was a problem with the server and it was solved.
This is why I believe it to be a server issue other than them just not being able to handle the load and shutting people out. It's completely possible that I could be wrong, but with everything I have read and experienced so far, I think it is a different issue.

Sweet mercifull... O.O... enable hard mode. I have four level 30 chars and its about time that you let us play in a harder difficulty. This game gets REALLY boring when you can kill most things in one hit. Hard mode, very hard, ultimate... Hard mode, very hard, ultimate... Hard mode, very hard, ultimate...Hard mode, very hard, ultimate...Hard mode, very hard, ultimate... Hard mode, very hard, ultimate...
Btw, if you don't plan on opening it during the beta please announce it. I really don't want to put more time into nothing :D

If you have an efficient group, you can get a 30 in around 10 hours. Its really not that bad considering how long this has already been open. And even so.. We still need harder difficulties, its getting rediculous. I mean i've seen a FORTY-EIGHT. To me, that is insane when you get like 16-25 exp per kill. If those people had harder difficulties their time and work would have payed off. No offense to the TRUE addicts, but once they open harder difficulties everyone will catch back up :D
Difficulties should have been up since the beginning. Period.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see why they keep the difficulties locked - it seems really fishy, I don't see why they'd unlock them if they aren't already. Episode 2 not being unlocked might lead to problems when the game hits retail, of course, but Sega will probably still say the beta testers didn't catch bugs in Ep2. Which we will most likely not get, same as the difficulties.
I mean, is there any difference in the difficulties at all? You find rares, the monsters are tougher, and in Ultimate they have different models and such. That's it. There's not new text or anything, as far as I know. I can't see any reason to keep the difficulties locked.
Episode 2 is probably locked so people will still buy the game, but again, it'll be buggy on release because of that.

Because it's more a Trial version than a Beta.
All the point seems to go near this.
All the restricted things have no point to be especialy ep. 2
Still I think a Beta is for testing things, but we can only test like 10% of the game, does it mean that when it goes to retail, 90% of the game will be bugged :O ?
Na really. And the lack of informations kinda sad too.

The main thing *I* want, is just to be kept apprised of what's going on
right now. Opening or not opening other features, comes second to just
plain being told what the deal is.
I can't blame it on the board mods, since I'm sure it's *not* their fault
directly, but...I'm seriously disappointed in the lack of forthcomingness
at this point beyond 'Something. Soon.' I'm starting to feel disregarded
again, like I did during the DC days(Speaking generally, as in Sega US
seems to have a hard time paying attention to its consumers).
I think the best thing to do would simply be to clear up what their plans are
right now. IE: allow the mods to tell us what, if any, further difficulties and
modes will be opened, if not neccesarily *when* during the Beta they will
be made so. That alone, just *telling* us what's going on, would probably
silence half the repeated posts on the board, and make a lot of people
more comfortable.
I mean, I've tried to have faith, but seriously. If we reach the two week
mark and the line is still 'coming soon', I'm going to get angry. Most of
us have *done* PSO ep1 normal already, possibly before Blue Burst
even existed. I've tried my best to love Sega all these years, but darn
it, I'm getting tired of getting the equivelent of offhanded shrugs in return
for loyalty.

05-21-2005, 10:26 AM
Here is what i think. Cheating will happen, period. There are plenty of ways to hack the system. Even with serverside saving. What we REALLY need is ZERO TOLERENCE from the people that are searching out and finding these hackers. Intentional hacking should equal a lifelong ban. And for those of you that think people 'hack on accident', it hardly EVER happens. And even if it does, a loyal player would go find someone and report it either in the game or on the boards. Just adopt a no tolerence motto and you will be all set, hacking will exit but in a much more rare form.
PS:You will never stop hackers. Look at Halo2. Microsoft was proud and happy that people wouldn't be able to play it online with a modded X-box. Two weeks later, they are online. Its the same for this game, it WILL happen. Just be ready for it, and be ready to crush it when it does.

The difference is that with a console you can actually change the physical hardware setup as it directly interfaces with the game and be sure that the software will never change. That's not really an option here, though there are definitely some things that can be done on the software level - it depends how well Segas systems are.
The other issue is people actually analyzing the code or quirks in the game and developing exploits based on how the game handles itself. Many of these have been discovered and fixed over the years, like the glitch that let you back through doors. But the translation itself can produce new bugs that may lead to exploits. The people that were able to level up to 150+ before did so because of an exploit - there was no hacking involved. This is mostly a test of how quickly Sega can spot these exploits and patch the game.
Genoc
05-22-2005, 08:25 PM
Yes I have to agree with you. Hacking, exploiting, it all comes down to the same effect. People using the game to their advantage. Who cares, it is always fun finding exploits.
Ps: THANKYOU FOR FINALLY OPENING HARD MODE! Its about time...

How many of you will really pay for this?
I know I wont. Its only a matter of time before its hacked. For all those people that say its impossible.. Its not. Get over it, nothing is hack-proof. Check the gamefaqs boards if you want to see some cool stuff people are working on. Its not hack proof, but so far it seems like SonicTeam is on the ball. Anyway, back to the reason i wrote this. How many of you are just using this as a filler untill PSU comes out? I know I am ^^ Most people, including myself, have completely killed this game already. Ep 4.. Give it a few weeks and 50% of the player base will have it completely done. I think this game wasn't really meant to last. Even at 9 dollars a month, the player base will only MAYBE hold out until PSU dominates all competitors.

I'll pay, I will infer that it'll take longer to hack. Anyway, it's no worse then paying to play on a console, maybe a little better, given I've never gotten x-box live and I have to play my game cube upside down.

Don't forget that most people in Europe don't have/need/want a credit card...
Here in holland were I come from, we pay with a PIN-card. So a alternative paying method would be realy welcome.. If SEGA ever want to sell some hunter licenses in Europe they realy should make other ways to pay. Paypal would be a good one, or like WoW that you can buy a card in the shop. Yes, I had 3 of my friends quit the game and I find myself not playing at all anymore.

Why must you people have conversations in the announcement forum... take it to somewhere where the new post icon doesnt meach so much.
They should lock it for admin posts only. then when there is a post it will be meaningful.

Well I'll add to the random meaningless 500 X repeated posts in the announcement forum so people who actually are waiting for real announcements will see the New Posts icon lit up and think its something important but come to see my jibber jabber because I think its soooooo important and yeah...
I honestly don't get it. Every 5 hours someone posts something here like "yeah I like the game"
Wtf is the point, keep it somewhere that kind of stuff belongs.
Chill. The number of threads is currently 11. Check to see if there is a new thread, instead of new posts.

He might as well make 500+ random posts, everyone seems to ask the same idiotic questions else where when theres a search button. Anyway this is going really off topic so lets not flame and talk about PSO and say how much we love it.

No one knows for sure yet. If it is like the other versions of PSO it would be with credit card or with certain debit cards (ones with a VISA logo). We will just have to wait and see.
