:D Hi all, im new to the whole PSO game, I had it on Dreamcast but back then I never had an Internet Connection and my version was japanese so I didnt really play it and I dont remember what it was like except the graphics looked cool lol...
Anyway, I would like to ask about some features in the game, since my Dreamcast, i've got internet now (no duh :P) and been palying a tonne of MMORPG's my favourites being Lineage 1 and World of Warcraft.
I want to know mainly, is there...
- PVP (Player vs Player), if so, whats it like?
- Bosses again if so, they fun? :D
- Rare items? (stuff you cant buy in the stores) ?
- Video clips, like when u doing a quest a little cut scene?
- Anything else you think is cool about game and would like to tell? :D
Thanks in advance, and hope to see u all on the 10th!
Regards,
Derity.

There is a mode called Battle mode where you basically run around different maps killing each other for points
- Bosses again if so, they fun?
Theres a boss on the end of each main level for example you would play through forest1, forest2 then there is a boss at the end. lots of fun :)
- Rare items? (stuff you cant buy in the stores) ?
There are tons of these and thats one of the reasons i love this game :D
- Video clips, like when u doing a quest a little cut scene?
There are a few in game clips when you are playing quests
- Anything else you think is cool about game and would like to tell?
The whole atmosphere when you and 3 other people are heading into the forest for the first time to kick some ragol *** :D
oh and by the way welcome to the forum ;)

Thanks for the reply puppet ^_^
About the things you said,
Battle mode, sounds interesting, what do points do? A sort of ranking system? Or do they earn you currency or something?
Also about skills in the game, for (not sure of class names) say the warrior kinda one with the sword... do they get lots of different skills/ combo's etc? because I saw a video clip of a lvl 1 guy playing but he was just doing the same combo over and over again :S Is there some vary in later lvls?
also do you know any good fansites with info? :D
thx alot!
Derity.

Most of the stuffs puppet already said...
-PvP
In battle mode, you can choose to just go down to the maps(Forest, Caves, etc) and just play a 'normal' game with your friends, while PvP is on, meaning, you can actually mis-hit your friends if you use wide-ranged attack, such as Razonde, Spread Needle, Shotgun, Sword, etc...
And of course, the alternative being, you can start a PvP match with set rule(think of it as PvP quest).
-Bosses
Bosses online have more HP than offline, and I can't remember, but I think they are stronger as well... so playing online requires more tactic than offline, for example, you will have to find time to reverser/moon atomiser your friends, so they can get exp off the boss as well... which you wouldn't need to worry in offline.
-Video clips
Not much if you are referring to those that totally change the graphics, and have a CG movie shown, like Final Fantasy X. There are several clips using normal sprites and stuffs, which are fun to watch nonetheless.
-Anything else
Ever since PSO ver2 on DC, they have made a mode called C-mode, or Challenge mode, which later expand to offline as well on Gamecube and Xbox, I believe. C-mode is basically survival time attack, you are to go through a set of stages(8 or 9 stages for episode 1, and not sure about episode 2), and aim for the S-rank time, to get the legendary S-rank weapon(you choose the type(saber, handgun, shotgun, hammer, whatever) and then name it). You are given set equips and items for each stage, without your well built gears in normal games, and have to wander through each of this stage with your friends, none allowed to die(or it's game over)... so I believe it is quite fun, and add an alternate option to the game, in addition to the Online RPG-must: rare-hunting.
EDIT:
Combo stays the same for each character, each type of weapon has a different action set.

 By no means am i an elite! But i can try to help you to the best of my knowledge.
Im sure im repeating my friends up in previous replies but...
Battle Mode: Yes, you can go into area's with up to 3 of your friends and have a whole battle war. Theres are 6, yes 6 different types of game play. it can either be for example: Game 1: Beat the living monkey out of eachother, and the one with most points for killing wins. Dieing means loseing points. All previous weapon sets are allowed.
and
Game B: Beat the living monkey out of eachother BUT You start off at level 1 and use basic equipment or those you find along the way. Most kill points wins the game, dieing loses no points.
All different types of rules my dear.
Bosses: Oh god, yes there are bosses. They are KILLER. You'll experience some problems with certain ones. Everyones got a favorite but they all are pretty devastating even if you've beaten them before at a sure shot. They don't stop beeing hard cause trust me, once you beat the game and go into Hard mode or V hard...They get even worse. Faster, Stronger and smarter. Yes smarter, and you'll know what i mean later on.
Now once you walk into Ultimate mode...Then the adventure begins to test you and your skills as a hunter.
Rare Items: Sheesh, i dont think any man/woman alive has the entire LEGIT set of every rare item. There are sooo many and sooo many different combo's. You'll find that certain weapons may be slower but stronger/more hits per cycle of hitting or fast but mediocre damage. Still, there are a multitude of add-ons that make even the bookwormiest of Forces able to stand up to the dreaded HuCast. Even more so, there are items you can merge together like my trusty Lavis Cannon. Alot of mystery around these weapons, so good luck.
Video clips: Other then the opening scene which is maddening enough (specialy Episode II's) there isnt any High Definition screnings that dazzle you. There are some normal cut-scene's inside of quests but thats about it. The best video clips are the one's inside your head
Anything Else: Im sure everyone would agree. You can talk and talk and talk about how great this game is, but you wouldnt know untill you played it. Leveling with your friends, funny moments like a level 100 Hucast getting knocked down by a Hard booma and the times where it seems all hope is lost...but pulling through in the end with your buds still alive. Now that is the adventure. Bettering your character and making it a noteable character for others to play with and admire is great. Hell, if you want, you can hang out in the lobby all day and chat with your friends. They even have Teams now (or like clans if you prefere) and a whole new level.
Once your done with Episode 1, it aint over. Tackle Episode 2 where things are even harder. Then try them both on Ultimate >.<

So PSO:BB is a combination of Episode 1, 2 and extras? :D
Vizous
05-01-2005, 09:31 AM
Yes Sir/Mam lol. Lots of extra's and all the quests of the online and offline version i hear. Thats alot of quests and alot of adventures with your friends. Wait untill you get the West and East towers. On ultimate those are instant murder to a reckless person.

Even pso gc and dc vets will find something new in BB, just about all the npc skins have been updated and look great. Also, In other pso games you would play offline to unlock levels in online mode. In BB you do quest from the P-office. You get these quest from the new NPC. The quests are in a series, quest 1-1 then quest 1-2 ect ect...same applys for ep2. Also BB features a team mode that allows you to donate points for team upgrades such as a larger team roster and a flag. To get points you donate the rare items you find. Example, A DB SABER will give your team one point. (Once you donate a rare you can not get it back!) A double Saber will get you one point. You will need to find high star rares to get high points. If you would like to know more please feel free to contact me. =)

The above answers are all good, but they missed out Episode IV! It might not be out with Blue Burst from launch, but it will be at some point, and I imagine it will be cool!
The extra cool thing that makes me love PSO is mainly the design. All the other MMORPGs feel kinda similar, with the dungeons and dragons themes. PSO on the other hand feels so different, it looks like some great sci-fi Japanese cartoon, and the weapons are a lot cooler (especially some of the special ones). As well as that, I always found this game a lot more welcoming than other MMORPGs. From what I've gathered in WoW you can achieve more quicker by going through on your own, and from personal experience, I feel it's a nightmare to join a team in Final Fantasy XI. In PSO you can just join a team and starting feeling like an awesome little squad in no time!

The graphics will only be very slightly updated, not entirely sure in what ways, but I believe the characters might be a little higher resolution. I should imagine you can change the resolution.

Yes the graphics will be updated and i hear they look waaaay smoother. Not insanely smooth like a movie or anything, but better then what they were. Im sure everything is gunna have the same concept, but for the most part certain things might look different. Episode II was gorgeous in its own right, so a new graphics addition will rock.
Sadly you cant bring your character over  But then again, i love the idea of EVERYONE starting from level one again. Gives me the chance to mingle with everyone, and not feal threatened around people who have played 500000 hours +.

I just looked at the topic, i will say that the BEST class for battle mode are FOrces, I will list below why:
1. they start with all their magic powers.
2. because they of No. 1, they have more of a range.
The worst are Rangers, they will have trouble surviving the enemy, they have no atp stats, so you are skrewed, unless you find a gun, but if the enemy gets near you, you are dead.
Hunters are in the middle of everything all around stats and all.
I have the game for GCN, i am right now a Lv. 83 FOnewearl, oh, and PS, i dont think Whitill's are good for forces, only found one cane type rare item.
