I know people besides myself are wondering this too. PSO GC and XBOX went to hell with duping. I really hope the same thing doesnt happen with BB, as this game seems so promising. Are they using things like nProtect or other protection systems? I myself would like to see a hack, dupe, scam-free world.

Hacking is extremely hard to do in BB. So far only three people know how; two quit, and the other only does it in single-mode games away from other people. The most important thing is the lack of AR on PC. No more twelve year olds getting codes online, punching numbers into a screen, and walking around acting like god. It takes true hacking knowledge to do anything in BB, something no one will go to the trouble of learning just to cheat in an online game.

There are still some people that will go through the trouble just because they can and want to prove that they can. It's like that for all games.
BB shouldn't have too many cheaters. Hopefully, they won't have any. I'd hate for this version to go through what the GC and DC versions did and I want to be able to play with other people w/o fear of cheaters.

The best part is that BB is patchable, so any hack that are discovered can be fixed. Duping has already been pacthed in the JP version, and ST will probably put that patch into the US version very fast.

Yeah, and the fact that they ban people will probably steer tons of would-be hackers/cheaters away from being hackers/cheaters.

If any form of "hacking" items are used, I suspect ST has a blind flag overview in the netcode to send back a relay of information from a GM when they come across the item.
This could give the item-creators username, and lead up to a ban and possible deletion/roll-back of all duped items across the world.
Final Fantasy XI used this method in the beta, when there were a few problems with 3rd party security.
The best part about cheating and hacking on SERVER-SIDE only saves is that with time the cheating is eventually gone.
Diablo 2 doesn't count, because battle.net isn't pure server-side[Which is part Blizzards fault].
Anyways though, this is what the beta is for. If you find a way to dupe an item[unlikely], report it right away and it will be fixed in a standard update.
