There is a bug in the game once you enter this quest... I am at lvl 9 and only needed about 200 exp to lvl up... I get bored and decided to play 1 player mode. I go to the guild counter and choose the quest "Battle Training"... The quest starts, I get Kereek, and talk to Zidd... Now here's the best part... I Teleport down to Forest 1, like normal, and BOOM! It's says "Level Up" Immediately... so I think "Cool"... but it's not cool... It said "Level Up" and My level went nowhere. It actually pushed me a LOT farther away from my next level... like 4500 EXP to be exact! It reset my Current EXP and just made it 4500 until my next level... DO NOT PLAY THAT QUEST!!!

Well, just a little update... I just logged back into the server, and guess what happened... It took nearly a minute for my character profile to load... why? Because Sega's Server saw the glitch, and instead of fixing the EXP, they fixed the level instead... isn't that just fantastic!!!??? NO!! IT'S NOT!!! NOW I AM LEVEL 2 BECAUSE OF THAT DAMN QUEST! WTF!!! Do the admins here have ANY control over the Game Servers or Data? Because I would really like to have my Level 9 back... Please, ANY admin msg me with an answer and tell me wtf happened...

I wonder if sega even reads this? If so.. XD thats kinda messed up if they dont help you. Kinda like watching someone get crushed by a boulder and just watching.. maybe laughing.. or eating a sandwitch... XD

The bug isn't related to the quest. It happened to me in the Mines. Dropped me 20 levels.

The quest went perfectly for me, but I'm slightly worried about the glitch making me lose random levels at any time now!

There -is- a bug in the quest though. It's a text-related one. Toward the end of the quest, Kireek's talking about how to tell what attack to use on monsters, and mentions pressing the button on your gamepad that matches the color around the monster.
Problem is, this text dates back to the Dreamcast version of the game (as well as Gamecube and Xbox). It should be able to tell what you're using for game input and change the text to match.

That's not really a bug. That's more of a laziness on Sonic Team's part for not updating those details. But frankly, who really cares?

If I remember correctly, it'd be against Sega's aforementioned policy of editing in-game data. Your level got reduced automatically because it saw the experience coun and adjusted it. Game data is non-modifyable as a precaution. If this weren't the case, people all over could claim they lost a valuable weapon or something and get free equipment.
See? It's all a matter of trust and honesty. It's a beta, it's bound to have bugs. Thanks for reporting it and everything but, unfortunatly, there's nothing that can be done besides fixing the existing bug. Its effects cannot be reversed.

BULL. Once this goes pay, if I lose -anything- to bugs on their part, be it levels, meseta, items, ANYTHING... I expect full compensation. I've yet to hear of an online game with such a policy; if this truely is the case, I doubt it will last long.

They left a lot of that sort of stuff in. When playing, look at the button colors in the corner. Xbox. And there's also the occasional reference to a controller function ("Press B Button to cancel.")

Most games actually do have the ability to edit game data, as long as you have the proper permissions (read: GM), though I have never actually seen a GM ingame since the DC days.
As for compensation, it honestly depends on Sega's policy, but if they are good about it, they will state it upfront whether you can expect to be reimbursed for anything lost due to server crashes/game bugs/malfunctions. In my history of working in the MMO field, it's usually highly unlikely that money is ever replaced, and items only if it can be proven that you had the item and lost it due to a server bug. (That means the GMs actually look at the server's log of your character and the actions you took to see if the item was there and just poofed, or if you gave it to someone or accidentally/purposely deleted it.)
Again this would require, IMHO, a rather robust support staff for the game and seeing as how I've yet to see support staff ingame in 5 years of on and off playing, I'd say that's highly unlikely.

There ARE GM's out there. We've seen what they're supposed to look like, and a few months ago, Sega put up a listing on their jobs page for them. Maybe they're just invisible.

Completely possible. I remember wandering around my games in invisible mode looking at all the players, so completely possible.
But then again, I was also used to popping into the world to engage players, start some kind of contest, or get them excited about the game. Kinda miss that part of it.
