Im looking for a few opinions on a choice of cannon. I have the option to fit cn300's on a tri cannon hound. However I am slightly put off by the long reload time, size of the target they represent and low(ish) ammo count. Currently my other preferred option is to use falchions, I have also tried Analaces, however this presents energy issues.
Ta much

Someone ask for GUN ???
Falchions dude, Falchions. If u can hit with CN300's then go with them. Unless you've got your finger on the fire button the whole match, reload time on cannons shouldn't really matter that much. Majority of cannon battles are a matter of waiting until "They" shoot anyway, so reload ain't going to be much of a problem. Accuracy is the key however.

I would go with Falchions as well. You used to be able to get away with Anelaces since they had such a fast reload time. You could get in two shots while they could only get one. But now the Anelace reload is just a tiny bit faster than Falchions, but Falchions do a lot more damage.

Depends on your skill level, a good pilot can make the slower firing and less ranged CN300's work for them, but you'll see that the most experienced of us wait for the enemy to make its move in a Cannon VS Cannon battle so reload time doesn't matter much. Falchions are some of the best choices though.

CN300's require you to really sacrifice cpit protection...well when you use 4 cannons like I do....
I either use 4 Falchions and 4 CN300's or occasionally an armadillor or some of my other builds that i personally have made with 3 CN300's
CN300's have the power....Falchions have the velocity

many thanks, well after a bit of testing im sticking with the falchions, although they do seem to be splashed easily.
dont think I have ever used piles though, pretty much a cannon :):):):):) since day 1

Yo J2224, you can always create a gator style 4 CN300 design. Has a pit thats relativly hidden via the guns. To me its 1 of the better designs to hold 4 CN300's.

yeah i know i have that hound...the first CN300 hound I ever built...i gave up on the gator a long time ago though. guns are too close to the ground my cpit was vurnable from the side and back.

Are there more experienced soldiers out there that use anything other than cannons?

Are there more experienced soldiers out there that use anything other than cannons? For the smarter and sneakier cannon pilots out there, use Fasuliya's. They have less durability and penetration power, but they have the highest accuracy and the highest muzzle velocity.
Me? I use both the Fasuliya's and Falchions and I suggest you use nothing else than those two cannons. CN300's are WAAYYYY too easy to dodge. They just dont cut it, sorry. Speed is the way to go.

Yep. ARs, ocassionally heat rockets for smaller matches, howies (yes, on a soldier), the list goes on.
But, to sum up what's on topic...
Falchions = Great muzzle velocity, medium range, good power, and doable energy consumption, average weight, average recharge time, good ammo, average kickback..
Analace = Higher durability (harder to pop), low muzzle velocity, medium range, decent power, and nice energy consumption, low weight, fast recharge time, decent ammo, average kickback.
Basilla = Low durability (easy to pop), average muzzle velocity, medium range, low power, and very nice energy consumption, low weight, fast recharge time, lower ammo, almost no kickback.
CN300 = Great durability (very hard to pop), low muzzle velocity, high range, awesome power, very high energy consumption, high weight, low recharge time, lower ammo, high kickback.
From there, it depends on preference.
How do you like to fight?
Falchions = Good all-around weapons. Useful in all kinds of scenarios. A good staple weapon.
Analace = Good for speed and direct hound on hound combat with a fast recharge rate. More shots being fired more quickly. Recommended for a Cannon Hound that is going to play more of a support role (IE guarding a gunner, intercepting a sniper alone behind enemy lines, ect).
Basilla = Good for much lighter hounds that want to sport powerful CE ammunition for direct combat with no consequences on power consumption or recoil. Getting 4 of these to hit on a dime is quite easy.
CN300s = Good for Gator and Armadillo cannon hounds that want excessive power behind their bite. A single shot is purely devastating, but you have to make up for long reload time. The reason why I say Gator and Armadillo is:
Gator the guns are positioned in a way that will make up for the CN300's massive recoil and still fire 4 shots accurately.
Armadillo is heavily armored, but only has 3 guns. Sporting 3 CN300s can compensate for the loss of power in the 4th gun, and only 3 won't have so terrible a recoil.
Plus, CN300s on Armadillos make it even more Puker/Howie-proof. They won't pop easily, giving an Armadillo with its powerful armor a chance to move in close for the kill.
I have a cannon hound for every day of the week. Is any one better than the other? No. Rather, each one is good in a different map and situation.
Bottom line, use what works for you.

How come nobody has mention the flambergs? They are rediculously accurate.

Because Falchions and CN300s pwn them like a n00b breakfast.

What happened to the "use what works for you" attitude, Mr. Torte?

Oh, I still hold that phylosophy.
But, there are limits.
An example... the old "6-26 Pwner" I used to run that used the heaviest Morskoj quads, a Naml pit, and a single machine gun mounted on top would not be practical.

Flanbergs shoot on a dime but their side profile is so freakishly huge.
I've run them in the past but they never made it out of the testing phase.
I'd much rather run Fasulya/Basilla both which shoot on a dime and outrange the Flanberg.
If the range isn't a seller I'd say even the 201 is better off than the Flanberg as the 201 shoots fairly flat, packs a bit more damage and is one of the most durable cannons in the game.
The Flanberg does sport a fairly high CE: Defense, but it's only 1-4% higher than the others some of the others(much lower than both the bissila and fasulya), so it's negligable at best.
Just my personal thoughts on the off brand cannons.
The cannons worth using (IMHO)
Analace (fast shooting, durable)
Falcion (good damage, managable kick)
CN-300 (powerhouse in the cannon world, durable and super damaging)
Fasulya/Bissila (almost no kick, long range and flat shooting)

Is it possible to fire 2 cannons off of Naqa's without the recoil stopping your hound?

No.
However, it is possible to make a wheel/hover cannon hound fire cannons without stopping.

No but you can lessen the duration that your hound is stopped by going with a better weapon stability chip, though honestly hardly anyone will do so and the effect is slight at best...
...you're better off using a higher rotation/stability chip instead.
