View Full Version : What's it with Americans and Tacos!?

Yuuki

I hear Americans going on and on and on about tacos, some of which are in my team, they're completely obsessed with them! Seriously, like, one would make a game, and the password would be "taco", and the game would be called "TACOS RULE", what's up with that!?

I've also seen symbol chats with little tacos in them and writing that says GET TA|<0, and crap like that!

I've never even had a taco and I've pretty much forgotten what they look like, aren't they Mexican? What's so fascinating about them!?

I hate you all. Burn!

THEY'RE CHEAP AND TASTY.

Forever tacos.

We were at Taco Bell one night and saw them unloading a truck. The packages said Grade D meat... didn't sound good to us. When we commented on it the manager came and offered to give us our food for free if we'd just drop the subject.... Needless to say, my friends got free food and I ate nothing but fruit for the next week. Haven't been back since.

That is interesting. I'm wondering if there is anything worse than grade D. I'm guessing next step down is dog food.

Also what country is this guy in that he's never seen a taco. Gotta be an asian country. I'd say Korea maybe.

I'll go with the more innocent definition.

Anyway, yes, Grade D meat is one step above dog food. Do I care? No. I just had Taco Bell. I love it. But I prefer the soft tacos and burritos to anything with a hard shell. They tend to break and make a mess.

The meat they use is a powder....

They mix it with water and heat it up and it turns into Taco-meat.

It can't be healthy but they cover it with enough flavorings that my tastebuds don't know the difference.

I bring over tapatio mexican hot sauce, and woweee is it some Good eatin' !!!

what I'll do is heat up a flour tortilla in the micro wave, then spread a layer of refried beans over it, and 'wrap" it around a taco shell! just like a double~decker taco, so that way the taco doesn't fall apart while I am devouring it!

Taco Bell is not mexican food, I'm sorry. They take one or more of their 8 basic ingredients and put it on something in a different order, and call it something else. My taco bell sells pizza hut pizzas also. WTH is up with that?

Almost all of them have been tailored to fit the tastes of local customers.

And likewise, that's true of other foods we see as standard reaching out to international markets. Take pizza, for example. The Japanese have changed it considerably for their tastes, however odd we may find them.

http://www.chachich.com/mdchachi/images/pizza1.jpg

In that picture:

Ekuserento (pizza #1) Toppings: Pepperoni, Chopped Beef, Bacon, Mushroom, Eggplant, Tomato, Green Pepper, Garlic, Shimeji Mushroom, Onion. Not too odd, but...

Supesharu Shiifuudo (pizza #2) Toppings: Shrimp, Squid, Octopus, Clam, Scallops, Crab Legs. Not your run-of-the-mill pizza.

Puraimu (pizza #3) Toppings: Pepperoni, Chopped Beef, Bacon, Mushroom, Green Pepper, Onion. An original, with standard ingredients. However...

shiifuudo (pizza #4) Toppings: Shrimp, Squid, Tuna, Mayonnaise. Back to the seafood pizza.

babekyuu chikin (pizza #5) Toppings: BBQ Chicken, Onion, Shredded Green Onion, Sesame Seeds. An unusual combo of dishes for a pizza.

supesharu gaarikku suteeki (pizza #6) Toppings: Cubed Beef, Garlic, Special Steak Sauce. Pretty standard, but cubed beef?

So... yeah.

LOL. This reminds me of my dad.

He got so used to the localized(?) pizza through out his life, he was greatly surprised to taste the real Italian pizza when he went on a business trip to Italy. He told me that "it tasted like a pancake with syrup and anchovies. But it was still good!" LOL! Now, I am not sure if that's really true, but I still think it's kinda funny.

Well, yeah, sometimes those non-authentic foods taste better than original. Of course, I should also say that this is actually highly subjective, so there is no definite answer on which tastes better.

And I like Taco Bell too. Yummy.

And for almost all foods in the world, not just Mexican food, that homemade is simply the best.
