This is a good idea that I have seen a few units use, but not nearly as many could to keep them selfs more concealed. Instead of having a 100ft towering NA on your head, try attaching it towards the rear off the Generator. You still get the same effect, keep your upper slots open for weapons or sub-systems, and your profile just dropped by 50%. Now this best works with a bi-ped unless you want to add extra weight with space shifters and such. This configuration I found extremely useful for urban warfare, since a NA sticking over buildings will easily give away your location. Another thing to consider, if the enemy thinks that you don't have a NA unit in you squad. They may simply forget to energize their NA inhibitors. Good Luck!

I'm still really learning about the Tactics Commander, I've gone through several variations...

Treads would seem to be the best way to go, a good compromise between speed and load (Tarakian 'Custer' anyone??)...

Weapons wise, my current TC has quad miniguns with a couple of anti-hound rockets, shielded by 4 slabs of armour...Seemed to work alright against the AI hounds, but the real Mcoy will be different no doubt ;)

But hopefully your team mates will have had some impact on them *if* you need to engage in combat with one!

If you have a team of competend indivituals you should keep out of combat at all times. Besides the configuration I mentioned above, I usually throw on a load of two sniper rifles. Just to help out at distance! Those NA's I found are temperamental and love to go offline.

I always run it as a backpack as it makes your profile smaller.

actually your profile stays exactly the same size, since profile is from the side.

BUT, in areas like the Morskoj capitol, you're less likely to be spottet over the rooftops.

then again, you're more likely to get hit in the back when turning around corners.

and when running away (should you ever have to) they'll blow up the TC equipment first (+ and -)

for me - it's all about looks, since there are pros and cons for both.

I like the NA maker on the back personally. It gets rough to see over the NA maker from your PoV in soem areas as is. I've used it on my back with almost every type of chasis.

haveing your na maker on the back of your hound makes more sens to me i have been doing this sins day 1 because its looks like its harder to hit and as u menshond it leves room on the roof for guns. also the lower silhouette of your mach helps. the reson that machs dont exsist in real life is bercause thay r tall and hard to hide in a battel so every little helps in that area

Having the NA Maker backpack style is a very good idea, and one which I use constantly, when using a two-leg or inverse mobility. This certainly lowers your silhouette, making you harder to detect, and helps to disguise that you are a TC. It also shields the NA Maker from damage, helping it to survive conflict much longer.

One thing that I have noticed is that having it on your back often means if you tilt your view upward, the antenna bangs on the ground, jarring your view back to horizontal. Now I flip the NA Maker from a || configuration to a = configuration. It sticks our the sides a little, but helps to prevent limiting your aim movements.

I like to be different, so I leave my NA on the top of my Hound. I want the enemy to see I'm a TC, so they come racing over to destroy me! Unfortunatly for them I'm also packing 4 high power anti-hound cannons, and they just wandered straight into range!

I've destroyed more than 200 Hounds with this method. Scouts in particular are vunerable to this tactic, because TC's are typically lightly armed, the NA maker is like a magnet for most enemy Hounds. Most scouts believe they could match a TC for firepower, but beat them due to their speed. It doesn't work with me, one salvo from my Hound destroys most Scouts instantly, if they survive they lose several parts! Even Soldiers are easy prey!

Of course, there are some disadvantages. Snipers can easily take out my NA, but I counter that by staying low, using obstacles as cover. My teammates eliminate Snipers for me. I'm slowish too, but no where near as slow as a HVG. All in all I love my Hound build
