Wow. So, talk about one heck of a day - we all owe some major thanks to a number of individuals, and we'll get to that in just a moment, but first, thanks and congratulations to everyone who came and participated in today's Challenge Mode Event.

I really didn't expect it to turn out so well - but it did, and I can honestly say that today we saw the biggest PSO:BB C-mode event -- well, ever. Feedback so far has been mainly "So, we can make this weekly, right? ^_^ ". I couldn't agree more.

Everyone helped make it possible, but a few people in particular deserve special recognition for getting this thing going. Please give your thanks to Cortana, who started planning it, Apiron, who helped plan and remind us all too, and also to H N I C and Linguo? for promoting it like mad the night before it happened.

Overall, I think this was one of the most successful PSO:BB community events that I've ever seen. Here are some of my pics - feel free to post yours too!

Things pushed on hard for about 5-6 hours -(There's still two games going now, 9 hours and 20 minutes later) and it was an awesome event all around. I hope you all had fun, and thanks again for making the event a great success!

Ahh, I wish I could've been there. Busy, unfortunately. >_<

But from what I could gather when I eventually did get on, it seemed that people had got a lot done in the event and there were still some games going at the tail end of it, which suggests to me that there was at least some level of success.

I'll see if I can't find time for the next one. Got to get some S-rank Swords sometime. :P

Just finished e1c9 with Chiyo and Nat. Quite a successful event. I did e2c2 at least 5 times today and failed e2c3 just as many times

I also would like to say thanks for everyones help, and for showing up of course, the only way events can be a success is if people show :D So thanks to everyone who came, and I hope you enjoyed it, that's what really matters.

Throw another in like 2 weeks, every week is a bit much, not everyone wants to cmode every weekend, but bi weekly should be ok.

I had to skip out without making much progress due to failures on c3, lol. Prob could have gotten through c4 had we not failed so many times.

I had a few observations from this Saturday's event:

It was great to see so many people trying c-mode. Unfortunately, many of the folks I played with did not take the time to check out some basic cmode guides and maps prior to playing, which makes successful completion of many stages difficult.

There were games I was in where players would repeatedly shoot nano dragons for 4 damage or pan arms for 0 damage, causing damage cancel for the force.

If you ever want to slow a new cmode player down, just put a box in the room. It's a new player magnet - they ignore all the enemies in the room and race to break the box.

They can also be pack rats, picking up every item that drops and you don't realize the racaseal was carrying the 65/40 hit buster until after the game is over. Oh and of course the 5 monofluids your force could have used.

One thing that might help would be ventrilo servers that could be used in the games by all players in that game so that the veterans could help talk new players through. Also, identifying the games as "new players welcome" or "tutorial games" might also be worthwhile.

I think it's great that this event took place and that so many players took part and I congratulate Jem for hosting the event. I agree with Charlie that cmode Sundays might be a nice regular feature.

There is only a short time left before PSU depletes the player base and leaves cmode but a distant memory, so the more we can encourage and take part now, the better. I checked around on Sunday to see if any more games were taking place and couldn't find much at all - business as usual.

Hold a tournament with prizes awarded for 1) best cumulative time for episode 1 and 2, 2) prizes awarded for best time posted for each stage, 3) team prize for team with largest number of members completing both ep 1 and ep 2 and 4) random prizes for participating. Make the tournament either a month-long, week-long or even a weekend, but I prefer the month-long concept. Make the prizes worthwhile as in an unreleased mag cell for random prizes and a nice unreleased weapon for the "best" prizes. This would certainly generate interest and participation across the spectrum for cmode.

Hope to see everyone on line.

well, no offense, but contrary to popular belief we don't all want the fastest time for C-Mode, some of us are simply just satified with getting an S-Rank in any time. A good many of the people who showed up to this event were high level characters who would be considered "C-Mode Noobs" and many of them were just happy to get a game that someone would actually let them participate in, and help them with.

So, maybe sometimes everyone should take the time to notice everyone else in PSO, those who aren't the best, or the fastest, and just take the time to make them feel welcome, and appreciated, because it's thier community too :D

Sure, but it doesn't hurt to strive to be better.

Sitka does have a very good point - it doesn't take much to read through a basic guide before starting. It's actually pretty boring and frustrating to drag people through a stage in 40 minutes when you're used to doing in in 25, and whilst I don't mind helping I do want something in return - I want the people I play with to TRY to be better. Invariably they will make mistakes and they will do the wrong things until they are told what is right and why - and that's just fine. So long as they're listening and making an effort to play well that's good enough for me.

You're right, we should all try to notice everybody else. When I notice new cmoders I give them assistance and advice. And when they notice me I expect some effort to play well in return - and through such an arrangement everybody wins.

Apiron - I want to thank you for helping put this event together and I enjoyed your positive comments on Saturday.

Charlie is stating exactly what I was getting at in my post. We were all beginners to cmode at one time and had to learn how to play it well enough to 1) get s-ranks and 2) help our teammates. Some of us enjoyed cmode enough to work hard at getting pretty good at it.

Most of us welcome the opportunity to help others out, but we also want to be rewarded by seeing players improve and continue to take part in the community. In other words, we don't want to spend all our time taking a humar/ramar/hunewearl etc.... through for their s-rank without getting a little back in return. Our reward is getting some recognition back for our efforts and seeing other players improve.

I've only taken one character to level 200, but I've taken nearly 20 characters above level 150 on every platform from DC through the current version of BB, so I know a little about leveling a character. Cmode and time attack tends to be a more enjoyable goal for me than simply leveling so I appreciate others who can appreciate my interests and the TA cmode community as well as the folks that prefer leveling/collecting items.

Again, thanks Apiron and the entire Jem community for Saturday's event. It was enjoyable for most if not all of us.

I hope to see you guys again in the future.

Well, I am sorry you need something in return to help someone who isn't sure what they are doing, or can't quite understand C-Mode like you do, or that you need some kind of recognition to make it worth your while. You do relize that this is just a game right, and that recognition from a few poeple on PSO won't change how you function as a human being?
I mean why would you want to help better someones entertainment for a few hours by sharing in it and being a part of it, without gaining anything? That would just be stupid right?.

I think we're really talking at cross-purposes here. All I ask for effort and co-operation whilst I play - I want the people I play with to try and be as useful as they can and not rely on me entirely to carry them through. It's FINE for them to be unskilled at first and it's FINE for them to screw up. All I'm saying is that it's not fine if they're uncooperative, if they don't listen, and if they expect to goof around while I do all the work. I expect to see improvement over time. I'm also saying that people who were aware of them should have looked over the guides before starting and tried to take as much of it on board as possible, but obviously not everybody is aware of them, and no-one who does is going to commit the whole thing to memory.

Also, I don't need recognition per sae but it is nice when people say thankyou (and most do.) I think that's all Sitka meant.

I apologize if I come across as if I am personally attacking the both of you, I am not, you both do alot for the community, and it is much appreciated. I just feel that people tend to think of noobish players as "second rate players". when they pay there monthy fee's, spend thier free time playing as well, and generally just want the same experiences as us, thats all. My only point is not to attack anyones integrity, but to point out that even the unlearned players deserve our respect too, nothing more. Again I apologize for any offense I may have caused that was truly not my intentions.

Also I do appreciate that you took your time to come to our event, as I have said, without the people who came, no event could have been possible.

Propose "C-Mode Sunday" on the first and third Sunday of every month.

Sundays arn't a really great day to do this. As with any other day you would have to do it at night, after the day's activites, but most people have school or work in the morning and won't be able to do as much c-mode. Fridays or Saturdays would work better for this kind of time consuming event.

Awww wish I coulda been there but I quit about 3 weeks ago. :P I did join Jem's last cmode event and got about 4 challenges done in one day. This was alot for me before I met Charlie cmode who helped me pretty much from ep1 C5 all the way to ep2 c5.

Based on the feedback, I think making this a bi-weekly event would be a great idea. I'll get a poll up tonight, and I encourage you all to let us know which times and dates would work best for you. :)

The different time zones and the fact that veteran cmode players are probably evenly split between Europe and USA, makes weeknight cmode games difficult for most people to participate in.

I personally prefer Sundays as Saturdays are largely days we head off for things around here and Sundays are recovery days. But that's just me.

Either way, semi-regular events would still keep juice flowing in cmode.
