with the recent success sales of sonic heroes they won't stop making home consol games don't worry, there's too much money to be made for sega or sammy to pass it up, it used to be a threat but it's pretty much over with i think

Sammy doesn't want to have SEGA soley produce arcade games...they are just hoping to muscle their way into having SEGA give more attention to arcade games. You see Sammy doesn't have much going for them console wise. Their only claim to fame happens to be Guilty Gear X and in some ways, its sequel. Sammy mainly produces pachinko machines (which are far more popular in Japan than they are here) and on top of that they now recycled the Dreamcast/Naomi hardware to create the Atomise-wave arcade board. So they are really looking to just build strength in the market that they have the most focus in. This is not a serious problem for SEGA though since SEGA has been a dominant player in the arcade industry since their beginings. Since back in the days when SEGA was just about importing amusement machines. So SEGA most certainly has the strength. The problem however is that SEGA has been losing its grasp in the home. And SEGA has developed strong ties with the living room. Rather than lose what recogniton they do have in the home, they are striving to improve their home stance with consumers. And that is not what Sammy desires since they are in the opposite position.
