Double Dash would be a better choice to put up there for GCN's racer, because nobody owns freaking F-Zero. It sold less than 100,000 copies didn't it? Mario Kart has already sold millions. Its definately one of my favorites, if not my very favorite Gamecube game.

There are so many hot racing games...but you would have to break them down into categories as Camron mentioned. You would need to ask what is the best simulation, best street racer, best fantasy, best sci fi etc. So I propose a vote within a voting thread.

I think the best futurustic racer would have to be F-Zero GX. I think Quantum Redshift comes close because it really imersses you deeply with its visual effects...but F-Zero plays better. Between street racing I would say three way tie between MSR, PRG2 and Tokyo Extreme Racer 2. Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 is the only true street racing game among the three. MSR just happens to have an atmosphere not found in MSR thanks to the jazzy tunes of Richard Jacques...and PGR2 just happens to play a bit better than MSR. As far as arcade racers go...I would say tie between Daytona and Ridge Racer Type 4. R4 has beautiful car control and music to go along with it. But Daytona is just so addictive.

Is that second MSR meant to be PGR2? Agreed though, I'd rather listen to original compositions by Richard Jacques than Kittie.

GX Sales
F-Zero GX I believe is one of the best racing games ever. But I do not see too many people that decided to buy a copy. How much did F-Zero GX sell? Is that considered a success?

Matt responds: About 180,000 units so far. Not a bad figure, but then again, this is one of the best racers to come along in the last several years. Personally, I blame Mary Jane and Fran for this.

only problem i had with need for speed underground was that EVERY track looked the same. it got boring after a while. PGR 2's tracks have so much variety and are so beautiful w00t
