OK, I'll bite, Network mode is offline LAN for extra? or just a different name for XBLive play?

It's XBLive play, but there's more to it than just playing with other people. Certain single player events can only be experienced through network mode.

Wow, people still thought there was offline multiplayer even after numerous confirmations that there isn't?

Yes, now go back to bed. There's more than me here, but the others, like good ninja, are in the shadows.

Network mode is equivelent to Xbox Live. The only reason it's not 'Xbox Live' is to dissuade users from discussing non-psu releated games under this section (don't act so suprised, it will happen :)).

Doesn't matter. People will get used it.

Hmm. I'm seeing the single-player adventure as well, an adventure. Can we create custom characters, like on XBLIVE, on single player, and whenever we want, use that single-player character on XBLIVE? I don't want to release my chars to the public so often. I want to be ninja-style on them. Also, are there quests, like on PSO used to be like? The Hunters Guild, I believe it was?

On that note, also, is there going to be Materials? Like, Power Material and such? I remember I used to have tons of those, very useful when creating or helping a new player/char.

On that note, again, theres like, Normal items, magic, rare, is there anything else? Anything new? Like, better legendary, or, set items?

There are three game modes: Story, Extra, and Network. Story Mode plays out like a cinematic offline RPG, where you take on the role of Ethan Waber. The gameplay is basically the same but rebalanced statistically. Chronologically, it's a "prequel" to Network Mode. "Extra Mode" opens up after you complete Chapter 4 or so in Story Mode. You can create a character here and basically play whatever free missions you have acquired in Story Mode thus far.

You cannot use these characters online, as client-side saving is one of the big reasons previous iterations of PSO became flooded with cheaters.

Network Mode is "online" mode, where you create characters and go on missions with others.

The entire game is structured around "missions", really, but there will be special quests available (mainly story-centric ones that pick up where Story Mode left off) from the Guardian's Colony counters at various locales.

There doesn't seem to be any "materials" like there were at PSO. In fact, they seem to have specifically taken out any way of twinking characters.

All items (including consumables as well as equipment) are ranked in rarity/value by a certain number of stars. 1 star items are the most common, all the way up to at least 12.

Many of the items you'll encounter are ingredients for item synthesis (otherwise known as crafting). You'll probably have to actually construct rarer stuff from rare materials.

I figure they just call it 'network' mode because XBox (360) isn't the only version, so they dont have to reword it across the different platform's box descriptions, ie.. they dont have to change the box description for each version.. 'network play' applies to online for PC, XBox360, AND PS2 versions. It just so happens in the case of XBox360 that 'network' of course refers to xbox live.
