Hello,

My name is David Waters and I work in the video game industry as a reporter, and I'm also a big PSO fan, and so is my best friend. However, we are trying to answer a question that will determine weather or not we can go online with PSO III.

Me and my best friend both have high speed internet though AOL. As many PSO fans know, PSO Episode 1&2 for Gamecube was not compatible with AOL. Luckily, he had another ISP to use but we dont have that service anymore.

Awhile back, Nintendo and AOL struck an agreement, making AOL the official ISP for Gamecube. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read this news report:

http://n-philes.com/php/epyfkeakpffkyfeukfk.php
or http://cube.ign.com/articles/437/437537p1.html

Another full article (sorry, can't find the link) stated that future online games were expected to connect through AOL, I think Nintendo said that also. All of this was reported in September, so we suspect that PSOIII may connect through AOL.

So, here is my question Does anyone know if PSO Card Battle will be able to connect through AOL? I really hope Sega did the right thing and made this happen because last time alot of people could not connect because they had AOL, and ultilizing this agreement and making it compatible with AOL would give Sega alot more business and people on the service, since so many customers and gamers have AOL.

Thanks,
David Waters

The way i see it it is most likly not. Unless of corse Sega has obtain the right for thier games to work on AOL.
Nintendo only oblagation to third party companeys for online access is to provide them with the modems for the game system. It will then be up to the third party companey to set up thier own online system.Since Sega has it own online service they may not be using any of the Nintendo option to provide online games.

that's right. AOL is FINE - F-ed-Up, Insecure, Neurotic, and Emotional.

BTW, Mr David Waters, the PSO messageboards are not a reliable source for information. are you sure you're a reporter? maybe the whether is just getting to you.

it doesnt matter....all you need is a internet connection....doesnt matter about the ISP....this isnt sega.net.

I have IE, Firefox AND AOL.

those aren't ISPs, those are Browsers :P

see what i mean by PSO boards not being good sources for information?

in Ep1&2 you could not connect with AOL. apparently there was some software or firmware someone made that allowed you to connect with AOL.

maybe the same software/firmware will work with Ep3. maybe SEGA has support for AOL now. honestly, we don't know for sure right now.

you could either get PSO Ep3 and try with AOL, and if that doesn't work try the software/firmware and see if that works...

OR

you could get a proper ISP. (best solution)

Your half right! AOL is okay for the new commercials.. but other then that it reaks alot. especially when it comes to online gaming.

Comcast is definately better! But one thing about comcast is................................................ .............................. The internet deal is cheaper with cable tv. But I prefer satellite tv by a long shot... stupid comcast... lol
