Take the power and flexibility of a dedicated computer gaming system and combine it with the easy-to-use, instant-on format of a high-end console system and what do you get? Well, if you also add in DVD playback ability and broadband Internet connectivity, you get Xbox.

The advanced components inside Xbox make it the undisputed powerhouse among current game consoles. A 733 MHz Intel main processor and 233 MHz graphics processor from industry leader nVidia deliver photorealistic graphics in real time. A cavernous hard drive stores saved games and characters, making flimsy memory sticks obsolete. The built-in Ethernet port enables super-fast multiplayer online gaming over a broadband Internet connection. Four game controller ports allow you and three of your buddies to play at the same time, or you can use them for other peripherals such as gamepads, light guns, and who knows what else?

But Xbox has more going for it than fancy innards. The Xbox's Windows-based operating system is a breeze to program on, earning it grateful accolades from Electronic Arts, Infogrames, THQ, and other game producers. The less time developers spend struggling with the operating system means the more time they spend tweaking gameplay, which ultimately results in better games. And games are what it's all about

Xbox got most of their idea from Sega Dreamcast. Technically it was a DC2 ripoff.

And yes, x-box owneth big time...
Probably one of the most impressive system hardware I ever came across, sporting some of the shortest loading times, smoothest cleanest graphics, and some of the greatest online capabilities ever seen on the console...

Truely the best system to play multiplat games on.

Xbox isnt all that great as when it came out

How so?
When x-box came out, all it had was delayed "enhanced ports", and rehash titles...

Now it's showing worth while exclusives, and has a list of A class games.

If i recall PS2 had shyt for games when it first came out and did bad now look at it. Xbox is doing very well now. i cant say the same for GameCube cuz to me the hype is'nt there at all It feels & looks the same since it came out. lack of games & Online games .

Granted, all systems have their share of crappy launch titles, but I'm talking about the first 2 years of x-box...

Most of it's games were greatly delayed because they were slightly "enhanced"...and most games were just rehashes, which were little improved from previous titles...

x-box is doning great now that it has exclusives other then ps2 and pc ports, and most of it's multiplat games actually comming in on time...

And yeah, I agree also with the gamecube comment.
I basically wasn't interested in gamecube back in 2001 - 2002 because gamecube offered nothing buy ps2 and dreamcast ports, and short lived, and rather undisirable nintendo titles...2003 really redeemed gamecube for me, but now with it loosing more titles, and overall lack of games I'm into, I find it one of my least favorable consoles...
Who knows, 2004 might prove me wrong...
