oh no, 88 compared to 90, cubists are shaking in their boots. that's like.. almost almost 2 whole percentage points different!!!

anyway, i'm surprised baseball games could get such a high score... they usually suck when translated to a video game

i dunno, ive always enjoyed a good baseball game... especialy in the spring when baseball is starting up , there is just a baseball vibe in the air.. Its fun when your doing 2 players...

nothing like bringing up games that are over a year old that don't sell at all (especially since more people buy All Star Baseball).

well, duh??? :?: , MVP Baseball just got released yesterday, and All Star Baseball is not even out yet.....LOL.... :P

But anyway, baseball is fun in video games, its as old as video games itself....LOL

Oh...you need to specificy MVP Baseball 2005. It is not just MVP Baseball. That is a nearly two year old baseball game. Anyways, why would Gamecube fans even give a care. I think time and time again it has been proven that Nintendo fans could care less about sports games. I mean really...have any of them even sold 300,000 copies? I think not. So it should be no big surprise. Also you got the scores from IGN...much like EGM or GI, we should know that they will automatically dock points because a developer chose not to give online support.

I meant to say MVP Baseball 2004.

It's only 2 points...

But then again, no online play = less disirable...

When they all 3 versions cost 50 bucks?

i think its not just online play but also the controller, the GC controller is not suited to be played for baseball games, GC controller are best for platformers but not for the rest of the genre.

That controller is only good for sega and nintendo games, for everything else, it's really not that great...

Besides, I got a modified x-box....I can play this game, with the shortest loads, the best graphics, and for only, 5 bucks....

That's 45 dollars of disposible income, I could use elsewere. :P

Plus your so called "cheaper" gamecube version suffers lack of replay...
Granted you can play through a season, but let's face it, the majority of the extended gameplay will come from online challanges.

I think I'm going to get this game. I played MVP 2003 last year and several years worth of Triple Play. The fact that you can play minor league games is pretty attractive to me as my city has a AAA affiliate of the D'Backs and it'll be interesting actually developing your prospects in the minors and then bringing them up to the big club. I usually buy two or three baseball games a season and I'll definetly be checking out ESPN Baseball and ASB again this year, too.

Well, mvp isn't my cup of tea....

I usually stay between the lines of segasports/espn baseball, and All-star....

Mostly because they have the better overall games...
NOt to mention all star baseball has considerably the best homerun durby. :D

the core gameplay is the same... most of the time the small percentile difference is due to nitpicking of a small and not really noticable problem like a framerate drop from 60 to 50. If anyone was planning to get it for the gc don't sweat it...

same sh*t, different toilet.

Since there is obviously no online support for the gamecube anyways, I think the 3rd parties should work with whats there. If they made games that were supposed to be online for multiplayer games (not downloads or anything like that) they should make the game LAN enabled. It's not online but if warpipe was advertised, then it could be considered online. some 3rd parties don't think about these sort of things. Sure there game wouldn't bring in any money for them, but at least they could know that cubers have the chance to play online with their titles. I want Super Monkey Ball 3 to come out because I'm getting warppipe as soon as I get a BBA for my GC. Does anyone know when that game is going to be released?

Thanks JB, I will take that as a compliment. But hey it is true, even Nintendo sports games fail to make an impression with the Gamecubes user base...and Gamecube owners snap up nearly everything that has Nintendos name on it. That says a lot. Sports games just don't sell on the Gamecube.

Camron Kosciozko
03-10-2004, 10:41 PM
well not even just that. The simple fact that alot of these sports games arent online for Gc, they score a bit lower. Thats why being lower by 1 or 2 points isnt even news when it comes to multiplat scores most of the time for Gc.

They are all basically identical if online was excluded from all of them.

this topic is stupid, why didn't he just post the ign reviews for sonic heroes while he's at it.

replay value has changed since games can go online now... go figure, if you can't figure it out, you gotta make sure you are not mentally challenged

I know he didn't post it back in the old boards, but then again, I didn't any trace of it in this new one.

Xteboy isn't going to post comparasions, because the x-box and ps2 versions suck for sonic heroes...

X-box has slowdowns...
And ps2 has bad graphics, bad framerate, slowdowns, and long loading times...

Actually rice, I believe gaunlet did that since he is the resident complainer about SEGA and Nintendo and his seemingly constant disappointment with both companies (even though he likes their games). So he was beat to the punch. But even still, it is not like you would see xteboy post a comparative IGN scoring for a popular game when it puts the xbox below the GC...

What xteboy giving the GC props or a GC game beating out an xbox game that is multi platform? I think it can go without saying that unless there is online play added to the Cube version, that the XBOX will walk away with the better score. So far few games have given the win to the Cube. Soul Calibur and Sonic Heroes are among the few...

Actually, MVP 2004 isn't online for the XBox either. EA has no love for XBox Live. It'll be online for PS2 only, like all of EA's other games. ESPN 2004 is the one that will have XBox Live.

Reviews are opinion for one, a different guy reviewed the GV version, right?

And god Xteboy, it only a few freaken points. Xbox has had the worst version of plenty of games.

Igns reviews have been kinda off anyway for the last while. When PITFALL THE LAST EXPEDITION came out a few weeks ago, GC and Ps2 both scored a 5.8 while the xbox version scored a 7.8. A week later both the GC and Ps2 reviews were changed around and all 3 scored a 7.8........

B4 xte says it and u kinda feel foolish for being corrected, xbox rarely if ever gets the worst score on multiplats.
