Why does it seem like sonys mascots last every 2 years? I honestly dont think Sony even has a mascot either.

Anyway Xbox doesnt have one. Some would say Master Chief, and i would even say that since when hes hand and hand with xbox, but its not an official thing. They tried with Munch and Blinx, but clearly those were failures.

Nintendo's the only real company that has a mascot with Mario, see back in the day gaming companies like Sega and Nintendo had mascots to attract younger gamers to play their games. Nowadays, you notice that the majority of gamers are over the age of 18 so the need for a mascot has declined. Now in order to have a good system you have to have a game with the name "Grand Theft Auto" in it lol j/k but it's kinda true! :)

Anyway Xbox's closest thing to a mascot is Master Chief since Halo is the best selling Xbox title around, hell it's still on the damn charts after two bloody years! Blinx would be more of a mascot but Master Chief is more recognized by the majority of Xbox gamers.

So the new Xbox mascot is... MASTER CHIEF! YAY!

Actually Naught Dog never sold the rights to Crash Bandicoot because they never owned him. Universal owned it, Naughty Dog just made the games. It was the industry that made Crash the Sony mascot...Sony was just savy enough to play on the media frenzy and association (which was a smart move...I loved those old commercials where he challenged Sonic and Mario). As for Nintendo, they pretty much started the mascot thing. Mario was their big drive in games and he wound up appearing in lots of games. Donkey Kong, Mario, Punch Out etc. Then SEGA decided that a mascot could help drive their sales and give them a competitive image (which it did). But since then, the need for mascots have disappeared once the market itself changed. Games now are driven by hype or simplicity (or both) as well as accessability. If a game has a low price point, or enough violence or a simplistic premise, then chances are it may sell well enough.

Games just don't need a face to represent them anymore. It helps with brand recognition for mommy and daddy who go "oh thats a Mario game, Jimmy will like that". But for the casual gamer who strolls into EB or Gamestop looking for their next distraction (because to them, that is all games are), they could care less about whose face appears on the cover. That said, the XBOX nor Microsoft has any mascot. Keep in mind that Microsoft has a larger scale business that has little to nothing to do with video games. Choosing a video game to represent a business corporation (they make applications commonly used by business) would be sort of absurd.

Nintendo has a bunch of mascots. Sure mario is the best known but all of the Nintendo characters are examples of what nintendo is. Look at SSBM, It has all of the Nintendo characters and it's still on the charts. For Xbox I don't see master cheif as the mascot. Sure he's cool and all but was is so great about him besides his nifty armor and his ability to jump really high. I think Blinx is a perfect mascot. Mascots are supposed to be recognizeable to all, a man in a cool suit with guns doesn't seem like a good mascot to me. Xbox doesn't have a mascot, and until they make a really likeable mascot, they can save it for Nintendo.
