4 pentium fours of varying speeds. 1 celeron 1.5ghz,1 pentium 3 900 mhz, one AMD Athlon 2500+, and one old pentium that doesn't even work and isn't worth even using as parts. I have too many computers.

cool, i should hall my rig downstairs and put in the big freezer and set the temp to COLDEST possible. lol. Considering how slow my rig has gotten i should just set it out in 90 degree weather when my parents are gone. Just for fun. lol. I hate my pc.

Why buy a top of the line CPU when you can overclock to higher speeds than top of the line?

AMD doesnt have Hyper Threading.........or does it?.........
No, they dont use Hyper Threading. They use something like Hypertransport Technology on some of their products, maybe something like Hyper Threading tech. But, i could be wrong. lol

If you put a 3.2GHz P4 up against a 3.2GHz Athlon, the P4 would lose.
goldenaxe2
04-22-2004, 05:52 AM
But they don't have 3.0's since they use quad-architechture, 1.5x faster 2.5 x more efficient
pyrox
04-22-2004, 07:10 AM
just the same it proves amd is more efficient in every way with how much is fed into it
pyrox
04-22-2004, 07:12 AM
however i think a 3.2 extreme edition or a 3.4 XEON would own any athlon simply because of the unholy massive amounts of cache.. however an Opteron beats a xeon or an EE..
Resident Evil
04-22-2004, 09:38 AM
what? the athlon doesnt have HT but the p4 does so if you put a 3.2Ghz p4 WITH H.T against the athlon xp 3200+ it would still win?
goldenaxe2
04-22-2004, 10:02 AM
Very much so athlons are very good, but nothing like the 64-bit one with 1 mb cache. *drools*

athlon 2400+, and since when does via makes cpu? they only make motherbaord chips.
Titus22
04-26-2004, 03:27 AM
No...They integrate their CPUs into their motherboards...they have the VIA Antaur CPUs, VIA C3, and VIA Eden. This dude made a cluster of 12 VIA EPIA V8000, 800 MHz motherboards which was about the same speed as four 2.4GHz systems running in parallel at a fraction of cost and power use.

thing is with me is that I have a small desk I use for my PC. Then i got my controller, keyboard, and some other cords (like a cord that connects to a Dreamcast memory card to put save files on your PC). :):):):) kept getting tangled, especially since I always lift my keyboard and put it on my lap while I lean back in my chair. Originally I just went out to buy an optical mouse, thats it, but then I noticed a good deal. It was a cordless, optical mouse with wheel and 5 buttons, thats right 5 and it only costed $20. Its kinda heavy and gets annoying when playing FPS but I dont mind the extra weight because it isnt that much. The batteries actually seems to last a long time also. So it all depends on why you are buying it.
