The PlayStation 2 version of Street Fighter III 3rd Strike is due out in Japan on July 22, Capcom announced today. This is the first news of any proper release date for the game. When Capcom first announced the game a few weeks ago, it had no official release window of any kind.
A midsummer release means it will hit Japan at almost the same time it hits North America. The PlayStation 2 Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, which combines 3rd Strike with the Hyper Street Fighter II compilation released in Japan last fall, is due for release in North America some time this summer.
Capcom has yet to announce an official price for the stand-alone Japanese 3rd Strike, so we have yet to find out just how badly Japanese gamers are getting shafted err saved on this one.
