Okay, we're nearly at October and still no definite release date. Can we have one please? And please say it's still coming out October!
Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to this! (And don't tell Bioware... but more so than Dragon Age! :o )

September 18 now, looking the forum everyday and didn't see anything new, but on almost every website i looked (EBGAMES,GAMESPOT etc) they all have October 27, 2009, i know it not a official release date until we have THE OFFICIAL DATE, but i hope it still in october, too many games have been delayed for the new fiscal year, i sure hope SEGA won't do it as well.
EDIT: On the official website, it still October 2009 (Alpha protocol website i mean, so hopefully it will be indeed october)

If what Gamestop says is true... Darn it.
That's another delayed 2009 game that I won't be getting by X-mas.
Still, I should've seen it coming. Think about it, there hasn't been any new trailers and new details in weeks.
Just a couple of previews and even those never once even mentioned AP's release date.

Oh well, Im gonnna buy another game, and if i don't forget about AP, maybe ill buy it next summer.... :(

I was just listening to this week's Invisible Walls podcast and we have yet another source that confirms Alpha Protocol's delay.
It's between the 8 and 10 minute mark.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/episode-76-invisible-walls/56798
Oh, well, guess I'll have to re-organize my video game priorities since most of the major games I want are all coming out next year.
Major bummer...
Guess I'll be going with Smackdown vs RAW 2010 as my planned October purchase.

Delayed? oh, well, I want them to release a great game, so I don't mind, they have to make a great game, and Sega has to make it successful, one month from the release and no advertisements at all, I was a little worried, now I understand.

I will buy this game when it is released but I want to play it soon. Releasing this fall is truly the optimal time for Alpha Protocol. It's slated via GameCrazy for a 10/27 release and that's one month after Halo 3: ODST, 2 weeks after Uncharted 2 and two weeks before Modern Warfare 2.
As far as RPGs go, it's two weeks after Magna Carta II and Fallout 3: Game of the Year edition. I really hope this game releases next month if it's ready. It deserves some dedicated time and releasing this year will give AP the necessary spotlight.

Awww, shame about the delay. Easily the game I look forward to play the most, and it was the only game I looked forward to play this fall.
Still, the earlier titles by Obsidian Entertainment could have benefited a great deal from more development time and polish, so I guess it's not a bad thing in the end.

I agree but this game is NOT delayed for more polish.... whatever the Publisher say, it is for MONEY purpose like always, because in the video i saw, the game looked ready(minor glitch, bugs) so, 8 months delayed for polishing(not sure how you spell it lol), it BS in my book.
Another game delayed for $$$$$, they don't give a sh*t about the customers, SEGA, EAGAMES,Etc... whatever they all think about profit first, and customer satisfaction is NOT a priority.
I know i ''sound'' mad in my post, but im not, im just realist, im 35 years old, and ive been a gamer for the last 20 years, and since my debut on PC, delayed and don't give a crap about customer is a ''normal'' thing, so im getting frustrated with all the Publishers out there.
Sorry, didn't mean to curse or ''b*tch'' ,im just sick and tired of the crap Publisher give to the loyal customers, only for money......

This is really strange...a member of Obsidian said to me at the Gamescom back in august that the game is already finished!
Maybe Obsidian wasn't happy with the opinion from Sony in the leak and now wants to change something? Mistery...

I forgot something in my last post, What is making me even more frustrated is Sega doesn't deny or confirm if the game is delayed.... Is it so hard for them to tell their customers wth is going on?
They don't respect all of us, the customers who buy their games with our hard earn money.... Oh well, whatever i say, it won't change a thing, but im sure im not the only one who feel that way.

According to Sega's website you can "buy" the game now. It redirects you to a game retailer. The game retailers have the ship dates for 06/2010. Geez Sega, wake up, have a cup of coffee and DO SOMETHING!!!
P.S.
My statment wasn't directed at you Patriot1. I just quoted what you said and 'bolded' some of the text b/c it's the same question I have :)

That's why i gave up, seriously even if AP is released before june 2010, Sega and the disrecpect toward their customers( Can't even make it official or tell people why), Just changing the date on the website, wowwwww....
Why do you have a forum if you don't even take the time to post about a delay or something? Pathetic.
I don't mean to be rude, but enough is enough, im dead serious, they lost a sale with me, anyway many good games are coming in Q1 of 2010.
I know it won't change a thing, but im done giving my money to publisher who clearly don't give a f..., EAGAMES was the first, now Sega, Ubisoft...etc... Maybe someday they will learn the customers is always right.... even if we never have the last word lol
Anyway, that's my last whining post :p Now, WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 come to papa :D

Apologies for the silence concerning AP's release date shift, but we've been waiting on the press release before any public news has gone out about the project. I've been reading this thread and have sent along everyone's comments and updates to the higher ups and wanted to post so everyone knew this.
As a CM for this title, part of my job is to make sure your voices are heard, even when I can't respond to the individual postings. I like to see active participants on the Sega forums and want to encourage you guys to keep posting and discussing the game. I follow everyone's concerns about the date shift, and the communication thereof, and I want everyone to know this thread and individual postings (from this forum and beyond) were passed on, even the not-so-nice stuff, to the correct people.
Just to echo the press release, we collectively agree that Alpha Protocol is an amazing game (I will gush on cue, no joke), and pushing it out will make it even better. We're nothing without our fans, and we appreciate everyone's comments, ideas, and discussions. This may not change your opinion, which I can respect, but I wanted to let you know that there's someone on the other side of the forum, reading and making your postings heard.

Thanks Clumsy
I'm still disappointed the press release came so late, 2 weeks after the original release date... It's without respect against the players who waited for the title and even preordered it.
Maybe this delay is the right decision, in this time period AP wouldn't have any chance to reach good sales, there are way too many games that are coming out (same reason why Bayonetta was delayed). And AP is really unknown by many gamers, so I hope Sega can use this time to make it more known.
I'm still looking forward to it. The game will be great.

Thanks Clumsyorchid, i appreciate you take time to answer, and sorry if you feel like i insulted you in my previous post, im pi** off, but not against you(forum admin) just against Sega, whatever they said, or you, i still don't believe the reason they gave for 8 months delay, maybe im paranoiac, but the gaming industry pi**ed me off so many times, i don't trust them anymore.
Don't get me wrong, i know delay happens, but it took so much time for Sega to make a offical statement(not sure how to spell it) they are laughing in the face of their loyal customers, always the same sh*t, we(the customers) can't do crap, so they don't give a f*ck about us, i know your job is to make good PR for them, and i respect that, but Sega lost a loyal customer(ME) even if AP end up being the best game ever made, i won't buy it, even if that mean i just punish myself not playing a good game,i prefer doing that then giving my money to publisher who lack respect toward the people who buy their games with their hard earned money...
So thanks again for your post, but tell them, for me, they lost a sale, i know only one person NOT buying a game doesn't change anything, but i don't care, i won't give Sega another 50$, never. Laugh in my face once, shame on you, laugh in my face twice, shame on me.....
I know, it sound i take this sh*t way too seriously, but im so tired of the company who laugh in their customers faces(not only gaming company) So, even if it won't change a thing, i won't ever play AP.
Thanks for reading, i know, long post, so thanks for taking the time to read this ''roman'' lol

I respect your opinion on the matter, I certainly don't feel insulted.

I can assure you that the process for press releases isn't as simple as drafting and releasing, I'm not going to go over our internal process in detail, but it certainly wasn't a specific choice to be silent for so long.
Sencondly, my job is not PR, I work as a community manager, which among other things is to give the community (you) a voice internally at Sega. Be sure that while I am not in charge of the press release, I was speaking daily to those that were to escalate the community's feelings on the matter.
So thanks again for your post, but tell them, for me, they lost a sale, i know only one person NOT buying a game doesn't change anything, but i don't care, i won't give Sega another 50$, never. Laugh in my face once, shame on you, laugh in my face twice, shame on me.....
I will put this in my report. Again, no one is laughing in your face, and I'm pretty sorry you feel this way.
I know, it sound i take this sh*t way too seriously, but im so tired of the company who laugh in their customers faces(not only gaming company) So, even if it won't change a thing, i won't ever play AP.Again, I'm here and I work for Sega, I am not laughing in anyone's face. If anything I'm rallying the cause for you in this office.

Hey Clumsyorchid, did you hear something new? I mean is AP gonna be release in june 2010?
Since my last post and your reply, there is nothing new on the forum, beside Sega ''statement'' about the delay.
I don't think i will change my mind and buy another Sega game, but i can't hate Sega for the delay, because 9 games out of 10 i was waiting for, they all been delay to 2010......... I don't get it, especially since CODMW2 will be a huge flop without the dedicated servers, every game who been delayed(beside AP) gonna be for sh*t.
Im still not convince about Sega reasons for delay, but i still want to know if there is something new, cause let be honest, a RPG Spy game, beside AP, i never heard of another game like that, so maybe, i will give a second thought.
Im still p*ss off, but im not sure i want to punish myself just to make a point ;):D

Yes, June 1st in the US, May 28 in the UK
It's not really a genre (spy/espionage) that I traditionally get excited about. But most early reviews seem to suggest that the game will have tons of replayability and that means dynamic AI.
Therefore, I'm gonna give it a shot.

For me, this game seems more like Deus Ex than any other game released in the past decade since Deus Ex, and for that it's an instant buy.
It's not in a cyberpunk universe like Deus Ex, though, but I can live with that :p
EDIT: Just got an e-mail from Game saying they sent my order, so I may be able to play the game tomorrow! :D (27th)
