question about online play

So I've only been online a couple times now and I'm curious about how the item drops work. The person I was playing with ran over all the items, maybe just checking what they were, they didn't disappear. Does each player get to grab the items?

What I mean is if a kickass item drops and I grab it, is the person I'm playing with able to grab it too, or is he gonna be hatin' on me for the rest of the mission?

Everybody gets their own drops in this game. You aren't taking anything from anyone. What you see is what is yours, and the only person who can pick up.

So does everyone in the group get the same drops, like if a rare drops does each person get it, or is what the drops are calculated seperately for each person?
