So, all the people that said "It can't handle Sonic 4"

.... Yay

Personally, this is the version I'll be getting. :) Very glad to know they made the effort to include us Wii-users!

I never doubted the Wii could handle the game, I just didn't think the Wii would get it because the rumors said it was PS3/360 exclusive. It's probably better this way because more people will be able to play it.

Not that I care, because I am fortunate enough to have all three of this generations consoles. I'll be getting one of the HD versions because there isn't much of a reason to get the Wii version when you have a choice.

I agree with you there, except I will be getting it on 360 as there aren't much games for it for me at the moment.

To be honest, the graphics of the trailer weren't all that stunning. Not sure if this will take advantage of the 360/PS3.

Even if it doesn't take much advantage of the 360/PS3's hardware, I'd still get it for that just because HD games have better graphics and sound.

For the record I'm not saying that graphics and sound are all that important, but when they're the only difference between one version and another then they sort of become the deciding factor.

Well, it won't be the ONLY difference- the interview at Gamespot last night said PS3 would use some Sixaxis in places, and the Wii would use some motion control in places. So all three versions won't be EXACTLY the same (graphics aside)...

To be honest, I'm thinking of getting a Wii for this (I do not own any of the three yet). Mostly because of the Wii's classic Nintendo controller.

Are you kidding me? If these are prerendered 3D images, they can render them out to take advantage of the full 1080p, i'll personally be getting it on PS3, although I have all 3 major consoles. It's going to look sweet, I just hope it's not too zoomed in...

Pretty sure this is actually running in a 3D engine, not pre-rendered; With modern consoles, it's actually more expensive and time consuming to render the images out into sprites.

Yes, but then it becomes much more versatile to port it to other systems, namely the Iphone that may not support advanced 3D models. This way, they all will look and play identical without any type of framerate hit. Time spent up front is time and money saved later.

The iPhone shouldn't have an issue supporting any of the models we've seen so far, though at (of course) lower resolution. I still don't quite trust that iPhone rumor yet, though I think it's definitely a possibility.

according to the interview all 3 Will be the Same , Same content same every thing but the wii ware version will be upscaled to 480P and will use motion control while ps3 version use the Six-Axes .

GS: Will there be any differences between the different versions? That is, will the Wii have motion control, or will the PS3 and 360 run at 1080p?

KB: For all intents and purposes, the games are designed to be identical. There are a few differences per what each console can output visually: Wii will be at 480p, while the XBLA and PSN versions will run at 1080p. However, for certain areas of the game, the Wii will be able to use motion control, and the PS3 will be able to use the Sixaxis.

Also the Wii isn't a PS2 I Think it can Offer a Lot more Visually.
In the Trailer i don't See So much that could be added to the graphics even if it was XBLA/PSN Exclusive.

This was taken from the Sega website:

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I, the first Sonic game developed exclusively for download, brings back the adventure that Sonic fans have been waiting 16 years for. It will offer the classic Sonic moves that fans love including Spin Dash and Rolling Attack and will also feature Homing Attack, all in beautiful CG rendered environments. Packed with special stages, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I will take players through a variety of different Zones, inspired by the Genesis-era style. Longtime fans will not be disappointed as they face some intense boss battles against everyone’s favorite villain – the always devious and evil – Dr.Eggman.

This proves that they are pre rendered sprites, akin to Sonic 3D Blast. Either that or this term was used incorrectly.
