Poll time! Is the fun of the game more important, or the character looks?

Looking at the Sonic 4 forum the past few days, there's all sorts of comments about the game. The most notable being, Sonic in his modern, green-eye look. So I thought about making a poll about which is more important. The fun and enjoyment of a game, or the look of the game character.

You can vote and comment, and feel free to discuss this if you want.

Aesthetics is just fluff at its very basic form really [though art direction nevertheless plays some importance in a game].

these are both ridiculously important parts of the game in terms of overall feel.

a good game would not sacrifice looks for game play, it would not sacrifice anything.

For instance, would you choose:

A.) Game with the near-perfect graphics and average (like a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10) gameplay.
B.) Game with average (like a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10) graphics and near-perfect gameplay.

I consider myself sometypo artist guy so I'd think I would mainly care about how a game looks, and I do like looks but if the gameplays not there then I'm not buying it. I mean I've seen a bunch of awesome looking games that play like crap. If it looks one way or another is one thing but if it plays bad then that ruins the core experience and I'm tired of trying to like a game based on looks.

Ofcourse the best thing is to have an nice balance of Artstyle and Gameplay

Who cares about the game. Sonic's model is more important. Everything else is just a bonus.

There certainly needs to be a degree of lookitude to compliment the gameplay. For example, if you were to compare between the classic NES version of Bubble Bobble and the recent remakes with 3D characters, the NES version just settles in more.

As a hater of this Sonic style and I'm sure all with similar opinons would agree with me that of course gameplay is the most important thing - it's just that we would enjoy it more if it was classic Sonic.
