View Full Version : Disconnecting in the middle of battle

Ive already encountered this atleast 5-6 times where people will disconnect right before they lose and cause no points to be gained or lost from it. It is getting on my nerves. Is there anyway to make it so bots take over their mechs if they disconnect or something?

That would be up to SEGA/FROM, but I dont know if in the middle of battle it is possible to do that. In Dawn of War if people drop out while the game is loading then a bot will take their place but, during battle is too much to hope for i think. :x

When someone drops just harrass the :):):):) out of them and infront of other people, call them a coward etc., it is just about all we can do to stop people from wanting to disconnect. :?

If you play clans and more skilled opponents you shouldnt have a problem, they are better gamers and they will be less likely to drop against you. :D

Gotta be careful with the accusations, though. I was in a 3v3, I was attacking their base with the 3 of them moving in for the kill. I knew I was finished. All of a sudden, I get a message that the host had disconnected and the match was over (the host was in the UK). I knew I was dead, and was willing to take the loss. Apparently the other guys decided we were disconnectors, and neg rep'd us. Wasn't our fault - it was some network issue. So maybe check with the "disconnectors" before you make too many accusations...

I've had plenty of people ditch the match right before they lose. I would say 1 out of 10 are accidents. There's an easy way to see if it was an accident also. just challenge them to a match in free battle.

Hey, Dunno what happened but we only had to finish 1 person off to win. Wanna get a rematch in free battle?

Usually you'll get a message back that's kinda like the following.

"F@ck off loser, I cant halp it you couldnt kill me in time." (real quote)

My favorite was a guy tonight. He said that all 3 of my guys disconnected and he still got paid. First of all I know that if the match get's dropped nobody on either team get's paid. So I knew he was lying right then. Then when he said we had our chance and lost it. Yeah, He's a dropper.

Dev1stater This is for you. Our team wants our 3vs3 rematch. :) Enjoy.

actualy.. one time, due to some weird connection error, i was host and EVREBODY got dropped from my room. i donno how it happend, must have been some weird network bug. anyway, evrebody was dead but me, so i won the match. got payed like 450,000 or so because evrebody else had 'left' the game ( note, this was near the starting of the match, after only a few combases where grabbed )

I've been told the host has disconnected and been the only person disconected quite a few times sooooo annoying when my squad came back in the lobby and told me how high the reward for winning was lol tends to happen most in 4vs4 games

Tell him to set his Xbox as DMZ of his home network. problem solved.

I think I've done that already as I had problems with pdz and had to set the DMZ on to stop them happening so I dont think thats the problem (probably the servers as I dont have this problem on any other games)

not you, the host.. if the host is not set at DMZ, or has not fowarded the right ports ( i dont even know what ones they use.. ) then you will have come accross BIG problems with games 4X4 or larger.

i am set to DMZ now, and i can easily host 6 vs 6 human games.

i couldent host a 5 vs 5 befor.

Since I host A LOT of matches I thought I would provide some input.

I have hosted probably around 200 matches with public players against our squad.

OF those 200 i have had my 360 Lock UP completely right at the end (when the last mech or the last base gets totaled) and have recieved bad feedback for it. I really hate that this happens becuase I/we have no need or want to cheat (where is the penalty for losing in this game?) and I pride myself on my 5 full stars

Segas servers dont have the best uptime but it is only a month after release... some added stability would be great.

For instance did you know that when it says "you have been disconnected from Xbox Live Returning to title screen" Its not actually disconnected from live but their servers. If 1 person fails to upload at the end of a match the host gets locked up.

A good indicator as to whether the person was cheating or not would be to see if they are online right after the match...if so they were disconnecting on purpose but if not maybe they locked up.

Im sorry but it aggravates me when people get a bum rap for nothing.

just keep it simple, if they drop out on you, look up their names on your recently meet list on the 360 dash board, and give them a negavite player review. it wont help you, but if they get 5-6 (left early) of those affecting their gamer tag they might stop droping out. and it will help out everybody in the long run.

the gamercard system has allot of leway, as long as you dont do redicolous stuff ALL the time, you will keep your 5 stars. it is INcredlbly HARD to lose a star, i was talking to sombody in an older sqad i was in, and he said that 56% of people 'avoided' him, and he still had all his 5 stars.

I mean how hard do you think it would be to make CPUs take over for the people who disconnect and leave the distribution of merit the same?

That's the smartest idea I've heard in forever, although I can pretty much say that it would be pretty difficult to implement anytime soon.

I posted the same idea at the start of this thread but, the only time bots are ever put in games is for people who can't manage to load the game, I think that it is above current gaming technologies (at the moment anyways) to introduce an A.I. during gameplay, especially online.

The lag would probably kill you.

I'm not certain about this, but I think you still get Renown points if the host quits early. I have never checked closely (since I never know when some jerk is going to drop), but a couple of times I have had a squad quit on me when I'm one win away from "leveling up", and found that I had made it to the next rank when I got back to the lobby.

Then again, I could be imagining things. But these were cases where I was very aware of how many points I had. I'm not sure about the cash either.

Can anyone confirm or refute this?

Sorry i am on the fence, I am not sure. I am aware of what your talking about I believe I have still "leveled up" even when they quit the game, but like you I am not certain.

Im 100% positive this does not happen if they quit AFTER you destroy them all then you do get the merit points and the renown points and crap because somehow the server has enough time to log it. But if they quit 30 sec's before you destroy them you dont get squat.

KK thanx for the confirmation.
