View Full Version : Wisp Gimmick like Sonic Heroes powers?

What do you guys think? One wisp to make Sonic burrow. Another wisp to make him run faster, I think. The need to use these different powers to get through different parts of the game. Does anyone else think it sounds like the Speed/Strength/Flight system?

Second question, would that bother you? I didn't really have a problem with it in Sonic Heroes. I wonder if this is the game SEGA was talking about earlier that would play like Heroes.

The drill one reminds me of the dill in SMG2. That's about it.

Sounds more interesting than the team play of Heroes to me, at any rate.

Well mister Gender-Bender I dont know, though if it was like heroes then I really wouldn't care for the game.

Well, let me give an example of what I'm thinking. Sonic is running through his level. He comes to a wall that needs to be burrowed under. Switch to Red Wisp! He burrows under the ground. Now there's an open area to run through. Switch to Blue Wisp! He runs faster through the open area.

That sort of thing.

EDIT: Some people are talking like the Wisps are things you find to carry around. So maybe it'd be more like the different monitors from S3&K? That'd be kinda cool.

Okay I guess I could see that working well.

Hmmm... Red Wisps don't burrow, orange ones do.

Don't talk nonsense.

Maybe the objective of the levels are to find a wisp and use it to complete the rest of the level! O:

I doubt it though.

I don't really know what to think about these whisp powers.

I just hope there are not 30 tutorial levels with tails telling you how to use the powers.

Just let the player learn while playing!, and leave the verbose explanations for the manuals.

Definitely... how I wish games still took this approach... our brains are wired to pick up new concepts. We don't need to sit through some mandatory, patronizing explanation, it takes you right out of the moment -_-

The only thing I do know is this: I hate Tails Tutorials. He acts Like I'm retarded and can't figure out the controls on my own. Ex.PRESS THE A BUTTON TO JUMP!!" dude, no way I thought that was to run in various directions with 1 button! "USE THE ANALOG STICK TO MOVE AROUND!!" dude, no way, I thought that was to jump; using an ANOLOG STICK.

Thankfully, Sonic Colors gives you the option to turn off such nonsense. It allows you to go through the game without any annoying how-to character banter. This makes it feel more like a classic Sonic Game.

Please don't bump old threads.

It gives me false hopes that the Baron's finally returned (, ,)
...Speaking of him, I wonder what his reaction to Sonic Generations'll be, especially considering that as far as I know, he's a sole Wii-owner.

You are rite but it was more than that to me. They did say Sonic Colors was a experiment. It has some of Sonic's old moves. pink = spin dash Green wisp = light dash
white = speed boost

They're similar as they're mechanics that don't completely overhaul the game.

I believe you can beat Sonic Heroes with using only 1 character per level: i.e. Sonic on Seaside Hill, Kunckles (who?) on Ocean ruins, etc...;

Don't forget Blue wisps don't make you faster! (That's....white wisps?)
Oh and, wisps are unnecessary to complete the game (besides the final boss.)

Shoot, I forgot you could do that!
