View Full Version : Did you expect this game to be praised as much as it is?

Many reviewers are saying that Sonic Colors isn't bad, or that Sega may have struck gold, were you expecting this? I was expecting this to be a rushed out piece of **** like SatBK, but apperently it's looking like a rushed out goldmine!
I know it's prejudging but, it's liked so far
Kinda....
I sort of had this feeling.

Not at all. Given reviewers record on their opinions to Sonic games, I didn't see it coming. Even IGN nominated it as "best Wii game" at E3 (though Epic Mickey won). Although it wouldn't surprise me if reviewers give it a bad score for whatever reason after its released.
Good review or not, I'm definitely going to look forward to playing this game.

well due to how successful sonic unleashed was, this would be probably like twice as much copies sold due to the warehog being removed

Somewhat. Judging bu how the Day stages of Unleashed were almost universally liked, and how the night stages were almost universally hated, I had a feeling they would like this one. 8D

I expected it to be praised where it deserved to be and so far, it has gotten it.

When they announced that this game is gonna be a Sonic the hedgehog only game and that they gameplay is gonna be like Unleashed -Werehog +power-ups i knew that this game is gonna be a success.

Not really, I thought they were gunna say this game was a big flop like 06' Just because it is a 3D Sonic game.

I was rather surprised.
I was even more surprised when GoNintendo and Destructoid preferred it over Sonic 4.

I could not have predicted....No...
I did not see this coming.
I also did not see myself whimpering in want when I watched gameplay videos.
Darn it Wii owners! Now you finally got me; a VERY big reason for me to own a Nintendo Wii!

I was surprised that it exists... I did not know about the game and had not visited the Sega website for a long time and popped in and it was there.

There's many more reasons too, mario galaxy 1&2, zelda twilight princess, sonic storybooks and unleashed wii version, new super mario bros, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and tons more games announced at E3! It's not ALL shovelware, and cheaper than the other 2 HD systems

While this is mostly true, I can't help but point out my frustration with some games (especially 1st party ones) that NEVER drop a single buck on price! Even though they've been out for 2 years. >.<
On the PS360, I've seen some ridiculous prices only what, 5 months after being released? Maybe I'm exagerating, but it's just something I noticed...
Other than that, there are a LOT of awesome games on the Wii, you just have to be picky. :)

The lack of a price drop may be due to some other shovelware games not selling maybe? Then again a lot of grannies do buy shovelware like Action Girls Racing a lot for their grandchildren so I don't really know, may just be greedyness

lolno
I'll stick with the thousand-times-more-superior 360 version of Unleashed I have, thank you.
But no, Sonic Colors first and foremost is the MUST have game that has made me want a Wii. The other Sonics are 'meh' quality to me, and the others are great, don't get me wrong, but never sold me.

I do think it will be really praised. But based on past experience I have seen in past reviews, even if they aren't dissapointed, I doubt they will give the game in its final form as much praise as they gave it at e3.

You make a good point Flamer.
Even if they praise it so much now we might be surprised with the score they will give it in the end.
That's why i don't see reviews and play the game for myself, if i like it i buy it.

i may be in defense of nintendo but you do have a point. oh yeah grandmothers have a habit of asking what to buy for their 3 year ******* not the 10 years old because they pick what they want

Decently surprised. The "kiddie" feeling Sega seemed to put on this game previously has pretty much melted away, and the Sonic-Cycle-busting-ness of the reception (we've hit the second stage, and people are actually receiving this well with some decent info about the game) is actually...amazing. The Wisps are powerups, didn't see that one coming. (Then again, I come from Secret Rings territory, so yeah, I wouldn't have expected that no matter HOW you sliced it.) Drill is cool. Laser actually works in a way that DOESN'T necessarily (crystals) validate older fans' beliefs in newer games just being "run to the right" gameplay.
And to top it all off?

Hopefully, this 'ere game will be as praised as it was in e3. Somehow, though, I don't believe that will happen that easily, sadly.

I'm not entirely certain, either. We'll find out, but this game DOES look like it has the best chance so far to break the Sonic Cycle.
Let's hope I haven't jinxed it...

Even ScrewAttack says it looks good! While I fainted from shock upon hearing ScrewAttack say a Sonic game looks good, it does make me optimistic for the game's success.
