Chances of Sonic's 20th Anniversary game being SA3

So I was told that there's a rumor of either Sonic 06 or Sonic Adventure 2 would be the Nintendo 3DS game and I kinda thought it out a bit and I came to an answer. IF the rumor is true I'm sure SEGA would be making Sonic Adventure 2 as the 3DS game because they know it'll sell more than Sonic 06. With that being said, if this happens then the 20th Anniversary game HAS to be Sonic Adventure 3. It would only make sense I think.

What do you guys think?

Not sure about the chances, but I'd much rather not see "SONIC ADVENTURE" in a completely new SONIC game's title again, as much as I like the ADVENTURE games.

I would love to see an SA3 if and only if:

-They pull it off well
-Plot makes sense and is not senseless
-Good amount of characters that help the plot
-Good story with much character development
-Hell, even alternate gameplay if it is APPROPRIATE

And of course:

-Fun levels, but this time expanding what the characters can REALLY do

It is possible that SA3 will come out, but if it does, it better have all those elements, and that they pull it off well.
I don't just care about the name, I also care about the execution.

Honestly, there's no need for it. Sonic isn't a third person shooter, or a treasure hunting mission. They should just adapt Sonic/Shadow's gameplay from those games to everyone else.

To me I don't want alternate gameplay but I would like to see the "adventure" side of the games make it different from just another 3D Sonic. That is why I want treasure hunting missions to form the gameplay a bit better. A "Sonic 64" I guess is an easy way to put it. More exploration based than the rest

I think Treasure Hunting is based on one's tolerance toward collecting items in a video game. It is common to see the style come and go in platformers. Personally I am still tied to my enjoyment to it, and perhaps it is just my cry out to want more open areas to explore in a 3D Sonic as opposed to just running on a highway level design all the time. Who knows. I want an adventure out of people's demand of Adventure 3.

Shooting is a pace issue and a moveset quirk for the series. The goals aren't too obscure for Sonic but controlling the characters like Panzer Dragoon on land isn't one's idea for a Sonic character.

Fishing is very drastic in changing gameplay and it is mandatory because it is the complete story for a supporting character. I didn't like it too much so I am on the majority who prefers not to have something like that again.

I think that is unnecessary. What saved the day then doesn't do it anymore. Look at Sonic 4. People thought it was a godsend at first yet Sega didn't make it the way they wanted and did more harm.
Adventure 3 can make or break people here I'm positive about that.

I like the idea of a Sonic Adventure 3, simply because the first two are my favorite of the 3D Sonic games.

However, I bet they'll stick to the Colors/Unleashed day formula, but if we get some degree of actual adventure and less linearity, combined with other playable characters, then it might still retain a Sonic Adventure feel. I'd be content with that.
