Whats the deal with CH cards?

i just got a CH jorge posada card but i can't use it until i buy more ch slots, is that right? and does the slot only last for a day? cause if it does this whole ch feature is retarded

2.) dont buy and let CH players on bench, its nothing tragedic, 99% players will go in this way.
