So let's see...
Unleashed got bad ratings.
Colors got great ratings.
Yet...
We see a recycled Unleashed engine instead of something more like Colors...
For the classic part I have no complaints. The Green Hill looks and seems to play fantastic, though it does seem a bit automated. However, for the first stage it's not that bad of automation.
"It's not on the Wii because the game is purely HD."
Let's see. Sonic 4 was "Classic Sonic in HD" but it was still on the Wii.
Translation here: "Generations is not on the Wii because we made a good engine for Colors, but that would be no good on 360 and PS3, so we're gonna be lazy and recycle a 3 year old engine and just not put it on the Wii because it's not powerful enough."
^^^just a rough translation.
Altogether, they seem to just be downgrading with it. Unleashed had no branching paths, the speed was uncontrollable, it was like driving a race car.
Colors had branching paths that you could spend hours exploring (I still haven't found all the red rings!!!), it had tight turning and controllable speeds, the double jump was excellent for the platforming; but somehow they decided to use the Unleashed engine anyway.
My final verdict here is that as long as the stages are good, this game can turn out well. But if we get stages like Unleashed, it will ultimately be a bad experience.
Not too much to say on the classic since we don't have much to compare it to...
