Ok people, as you're all aware SEGA is making a new game for the Olympic series. I am looking forward to it. But in a lot of threads I look into someone's complaining that it's not a platformer. Well news flash people, it's not happening now and that's no garuntee it'll ever happen. I'm not saying it never will but right now it's not. So can we please stop complaining that this game isn't a platformer and get onto being excited about the game that's actually coming out?

It is a rare thing that because of 1 person's thread, do other people automatically change their ways.
Except with 1 caveat...

People hate threads that tell people to stop doing annoying things just as much as threads about doing annoying things. It's just going to draw attention to the complaints and capitalize on it in the long run.

Whatever. I just want to let people know that it's stupid. I know that the chances of people actually shutting the heck up are like zero.

My point is that if you have no authority to tell people to stop doing something, than trying to do just that only makes you look silly. So it is going to have the total opposite effect of what you are aiming for.
In fact it might make people complain about platforming even more simply to spite you.

Yeah dude, I'm not two, I got that part. It's still incredibly stupid that they do it. No ammount of complaining is gonna make SEGA scrap the game and make a platformer.

Amen Hayley!
Here's an idea: What if we make this the Official Mario & Sonic Platformer Ideas/Requests Thread so everyone who wants to discuss that kind of game can come here and not be so off topic in all the other threads?
Maybe you could change the thread title to reflect that if you think it's a good idea.

First of all you can't change thread titles. Second of all if I thought that would work I'd do it. Third if you want to try it then by all means make the thread yourself.

Sorry, I didn't realize you couldn't do that.
I would do it but I just noticed that there already is a thread like that, so people turning every other thread into one about an adventure game seems even more ridiculous to me now.
Yes. also there's always the possibility that one of the minigames is a platform in race form...
I mean even the winter games gave us a few surprises, and since there are more foot related events in the summer games...

Don't get me wrong, but why we have to be excited about this game?! If you are that's fine, but please we don't have to share the same feelings, right?! I'm not excited about the game because the olimpic/winter had pretty bad critics and because I'm against this. I think is wrong the way Nintendo and Sega use the icons of video-games just for make easy money.
So, I can't be excited and this are my opinion not yours, so please if you want to express your positive opinions, let us to complain without judgment.

This game is going to suck.

Wow, you guys.
We've hardly seen anything about the game and yet you are already calling foul.
No wonder the Sonic fanbase gets such bad rep.

I'm beginning to think of it as some sort of anti-disappointment power many have developed over the years after being burned by their own excitement. If they accept ahead of time that a game just flat out sucks, they won't be upset if the game turns out badly, or they will be pleasantly overjoyed to discover it is actually good.
That or I give them too much credit...;)

It an Olympic game, we're a fanbase of a completely different genre. I know Sega want quick cash in but it's completely understandable why we're angry.

I fail to see how many of you can continue to call this game a "quick cash in" as a way to belittle this game, a term widely used to describe cheaply made games with no quality control when:
A) We know that they have had an entire team dedicating two and a half years of hard work to this game.
B) Judging by the amount of polish and content put into Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, these games are not made cheaply.(High quality animated sequences, orchestrated music, loads of unlockables, modes, and even tiny little character animation details like the movement of their eyes as they race past an opponent.)
C) We have seen nothing of this particular entry of the series yet, not a single thing.
Hey but you don't like this genre right? Ok, no one says you need to be or should want to be excited for this game. That calls for indifference not anger.
So no it's not understandable, it's misplaced.

My thing is why the heck do all the people who hate this game/series and want no part with it come to these forums to make threads? If you hate it so much and don't want to play it, shoudln't you IDK be indifferent and leave it alone rather then seek it out and start discussions on it?
I'd prefer a platformer too, but the facts are it's NOT a platformer. Get over and move on.

Meh. It's still an easier game to develop because it's not as complex, they have the engine ready for them and I bet they're either being told what sports to implement or they know it way earlier than the actual development time. It's a spinoff of the franchise, it actually has a special team for it because the developers of standard Sonic games don't have time to deal with it, and for a really, really short and out of context game when it comes to games in the Sonic franchise, it's weird how they keep making those.
What's the reason? 20 million casual gamers buy it. It sells, despite being so out of context. It's understandable why they make it, but you can't expect me to be respectful for that. It's not about anger, it's about how irrelevant and unrelated these games are in the franchise.

Meh-ing at the efforts that were put into the previous game does not invalidate them or suddenly make it not have an original orchestrated soundtrack, top grade cgi sequences, or a plethora of modes and new gameplay mechanics. Those things took effort and were not just spat together on the fly.
Sure, theoretically it should be an easier game to develop than a Sonic platformer, and I'm positive from my own experience with the game that the first one was. But the guys at SEGA Sports Division didn't go down that path twice. They went the extra mile when it came to the Winter Games.
That game did not use any of the same mechanics or sports from the first title whatsoever. They built it all from the ground up and they weren't rushed this time by SEGA to get it out before a new Smash Bros. title. The quality in Winter Games shines through because of this.(And that doesn't even include the DS version which is a completely different game altogether)
Label people if you must(seems to be a real popular thing for those with an elitist mindset) but more people in general are likely to play this Sonic game by SEGA Sports Division than Generations, Sonic 4, or Colors by Sonic Team. That means it's been given priority by SEGA because it is the most successful representation of their series, their characters and their company.
This makes these games very relevant. You can respect that and that there are people who do enjoy them and decide for yourself "Hey this just isn't for me... but you guys have fun!" and that would be fantastic.
Oh and just so we're clear, you were the one who said that your "anger" about this game should be "understandable".
Disinterest? Yeah that's understandable, I have little interest in FPS games, they just do nothing for me.
Disappointment? Yeah I've been disappointed for years that Enix has never made another E.V.O.:Search for Eden game.
But I haven't spoken out in disappointment in any Dragon Quest threads that I can't stand the company for making these games other people enjoy instead of focusing solely on me and my interests. Nor do I feel the need to try and talk down the COD series in those threads just because it's not for me and I'd rather they make more games that I would like.
So once again, it is really hard for me to grasp why someone would come to this board just to hate on a game when it not only does not interest them in the slightest, but they also haven't even seen anything about it yet.
