so people say that they quit or hate sonic because he went down hill. and say heroes was the last good game... but what i don't get is after heroes there were only 2 considered bad games, shadow and 06, unleashed was mixed and colors was good and generations dominated, so how does 2-3 games make people loose all hope?

They were genuinely that bad, I assume. Plus, Sonic at this point still had a good reputation, and '06 went and spoiled it all. Unleashed was a big step forward but it wasn't brilliant either.

Simple. They were really, really bad. And most people lump the Storybook games as bad games as well as Unleashed itself. Some hated Heroes, others weren't as impressed with Colors, some even hated the entire decade from Adventure onwards.

Easily put, everyone has different opinions and views on the franchise, period. Some even think Sonic never went bad, even with 06!

And in case you haven't noticed, a lot more people have been warming at/surprised over Colors and Generations' warm reception with the critics.

Sonic Heroes was meh (I really didn't like the game at all), Shadow was quite the shocker (that can be taken however you want), and finally Sonic 06 was hated by fans (though I still like the game). That's about all I got for you. Fans are not interested in the game anymore if they keep spawning more and more games.

Generations was a smart move on Sonic Team's behalf. I'm curious to see how the future goes from here.

Arguably Sonic went downhill after Sonic & Knuckles came out. After S3&K, it's tough to keep going uphill when you've reached the mountain top... I'd also argue that Heroes is overrated along with the Adventures, but that's a different topic.

While I'm not denying that S3&K is an amazing game in the series and better than almost every new entry, this statement suggests that the series should just end if its never going to top is greatest master piece.

I'd rather the series just be good, instead of trying to relive its glory days; Not even Mario is as popular as he was in the 90's.

For some reason I like most of the Sonic games that people refer to as ''BAD''. I like heroes proabley as it was my first Sonic game I ever played I still like it to this day just not as much. I like Shadow The Hedgehog because it's mostly fun to run through the levels except for a few that are annoying as hell and I don't use guns either only when I need to. I like Sonic 06 as it plays like the adventure games and it is fun to replay the levels every once in a while even though Sonic is slow and it is full of glitches, I don't like Secret Rings though because I don't like the on rails gameplay and when it forces you to play really annoying missions. I find that the Black Knight improved on the Secret Rings as now you could stop and the missions weren't as annoying also the sword can be alright if used properly.

Simple, They don't like the games anymore. Honistly, I would prefer they leave then hang around here trying to ensatblish their pesonal preferances as requirements for a good sonic game. As for how many of the sonic games last decade were bad, and more specificaly which ones, that really depends on who you ask.

Unleashed actaully helped us get the great colors and modern generations gameplay we have today but it's been improved with less boost hallways and more 2D and 3D platforming.So it actually helped the franchise more than hurt it.
