Ok Im in the UK. Preordered game from play. I know its been out for a little while in Japan. But just arrived here.
It got released 2 days ago in the UK. For 2 days solid I have not been able to connect to play live.
WTF you guys doing dont you test squat? 2 days since a regional release and not a single connection.
VERY VERY poor and please spare me the new release MMO kinda &^%$ Ive been playing MMOS since the first days of EQ1.
Dont say it has online play, sell it to us, make us pay for it and then say... well its a new system blah. XBOX 360 is not that a new system now. and dev kits have been around for nearly 2 years.
If its not fixed by monday Im returning my game back to play.com and spreading the good word that the game is unplayable as they intended.
Whoever is in charge of the network services deserves to be fired. If it was my job I would be fired. You should. After reading some posts on these boards Yo u knew you had these problems and still releases.

its a simple matter of them underestimating the server load
they stated that there is an Artificial cap on the amount of players alowed to connect at any given time.. this problem will HOPEFULLY be fixed by the maint period on the 11th

Obviously you haven't played enough MMO's to know what the hell you're talking about, so I suggest you shut up.

Every MMO game has server issues for the first week or two, you guy.
They put the cap on the servers too low, that's basically all the issue is.
So look at it this way, you and your "friends"(if that's what you call them anymore) can take the game back, and allow more space on the servers.

And BTW if you seriously played other Online games before you would also know that fanboy cries of 'Im sure they will get it sorted' are deluded.
i.e. Cleric Epic in EQ which even ended up on the BBC news website due to pressure - and then got fixed
If people dont state how they feel in the correct place (i.e. here) how the hell are the support people supposed to priortise.
Trusting in good judgement on priorities means nothing.

Hmmm something tells me if they're having server issues with a mainly online game.......that's where they're going to prioritise. They're not as dumb as certain people *cough cough*, and from what i hear they've made decent games in the past, they know what they're doing.
AND another thing there are about 8 posts with this same issue........try reading those before you start a rant on the same damned topic .....

I agree with nosmok, its not acceptable I too have been trying to get some online play since Friday am still Server Unavailable message.
Just limiting the amount of play we get online before US gets it to be honest. UNFAIR!!! Since we hardly ever get a head start on the US in these types of games

I'm having the same problem and i must admit it is very frustrating, i have tried for 1 hour straight and not got online, however i have acctually been online and it is all very well set up, and if im honest im amazed they are doing it on their servers without some kind of fee, considering servers of that size would cost alot to upkeep. We will have to be patient and i hope they at least add a queing system to the game on tuesday aswell as increasing the cap. Meanwhile you could always do the single player through on "S", ive just got 3 "A's" left to convert then im done with the single player, if you do get to this stage you should then create a few hounds out of the parts you have unlocked, make a hound for each class, try it out on a hard mission or the Trial and tweak it. Hounds have so many minor things you can fix (for example repositioning guns to reduce recoil). I know it is frustrating trust me, i was close to building my own real-life chromehound heavy-gunner and going over to the SEGA/FROM HQ, but they are now working with microsoft, they will fix it if anyone can.

hell they didnt even have their forum on their own website of the game until recently.......basically shows they didnt even give a jack crap about supporting the game off the bat
and the fact that none of us even post here probably made them wonder, hrm..i wonder why there are so many registered users yet noone posts anything!?..guess this game will suck they think..........
but then i thought about it..think about the launch order...
Japan first--fewest 360s sold..good beta
UK 2nd--fair amount of 360s sold..good public beta(almost hard to get into just like a real beta)
US release a whole week later---biggest use and target market, and a patch the day of release for the servers to increase capacity
hopefully they learned through the release upgrades on the servers if not they are going to have hell to pay

Hey! Let me think with my brains rather than what you call a brain.
Game is released in the US on the 11th.
Server maintenance is at 10:00 on the 11/07/06.
If by 10:00, it means AM, then good news! The server maintenance happens at 8PM on the 10/07/06 in the US.
If by 10:00, it means PM, then good news! The server maintenance happens at 8AM on the 11/07/06, probably an hour or so before your nearest game store opens to even sell you the game. If you get it earlier, then congratulations, go get S rank on all the missions to stand a chance against any Europeans who already unlocked all the parts. Even if people don't say it, my cannons can blast the hell out of any cocpit, having all the parts gives a superior advantage.
Get to work.

Every MMO game has server issues for the first week or two, you guy.
They put the cap on the servers too low, that's basically all the issue is.
What you're forgetting here, is that this isn't an MMO. It's a shooter that has online play. Besides, even if those actual MMO's have issues, you can still play online on their servers, although with severe lag.
Chromehounds even lets you create your own servers.
I've had the game 3 days before it was released in europe, they already had server issues which increased once it got a EU release.
We didn't expect that many people online is :):):):):):):):) when you release a game. If they made the game available to 10 people and there were 20 people online, then it's a valid explanation, not when you're going for a retail release.
I guess this fits into the Sega mentality of the last few years.

My two cents on the server issue.....
Having played for about 24 hours online over the past two days I can honestly say that the multiplayer aspect of CH is just brilliant. This could well be the game that turns me from a casual gamer to a die hard gamer! God help me when the wife finds out!
However, the server is simply unable to cope with the current amount of people trying to play this great game. I have sat here and asked myself what will happen when our American cousins come online? The answer is we will simply have the same issue.
I play a MMORPG called EvE-Online. Not sure if any of you guys know it but it is an online game in the Elite mould. In short, it's a great game, with some 25,000 players connected to the ONE server each night. Now, taking into consideration that the Japs, Europe and Americans are gonna be connected to the same CH server we can expect easily 25k players online at the same time, probably a great deal more than that.
The EvE team spent a great deal on money upgrading thier server cluster. I have seen pictures of it and it is immense. This was made possible by the monthly subscription that the players pay. With no subscription charge for the CH service I ask myself how far will SEGA or From Networks go to upgrade the CH servers? I cannot see that the money made simply from game sales alone and a little download content will cover the upkeep of the servers.
Forgive my ramblings here, I am simply looking at this problem with hindsight as the same thing happened to EvE Online. Massive connection problems after launch, sorted out only after a huge injection of currency into the hardware supporting the games online side.
I do not know how they will overcome this problem, maybe the answer lies with a server for Asia, one for Europe and oe for the US. As three smaller servers are easier than one large one. Either way, I will be very interested to see how this plays out in the coming weeks.
Regards, Captain Rubbish.

quick, small thought: the Japanese had this game a week before Europe, and
they are the players who are getting the most of the online game at the
moment ... I think it could a priority thing to get the Japanese more
interested in the 360, it being the land of PlayStation and Nintendo ;)
essentially, give it to them all first as M$ is dying over there ... CH is one
of the first games of interest in Japan on the 360; a few titles have come
before, but this one seems to be the key ...
they'll get it sorted :) have faith in SEGA ... unlike in EA - damn BF2:MC ;)
they have fixed it a tad of late, but the lack of comms is truly frustrating, and
an absolute necessity in a squad based game ...
... wonder how Huxley will do once that comes out (eek!)
going a little OT here, but who has played Final Fantasy online? how does
that measure up?
btw, that's a good 2 cents there Captain Rubbish! nice post :)

The problem you don't seem to get is that unlike BF2:MC, you can't even play the game. There is no way to even get online to build a mech or manage your clan. You can't even look at the map, unless you use your pc. The only thing you can do is play the single player game, which, if it was actually enjoyable, wouldn't take you more than 2 nights to finish.

Come on we all know why its hard to get on the servers. If we get more time to develop our mech the poor useless americans will be behind and at a disadvantage from the rest of us. There is nothing to whine about 2 days more and it is online. Go enjoy the weather, play some www.rakion.com (great little free online game)
It is only the japs that can come online but if ur lucky u can log on to i have only done it once then my Xbox disconnected from live....
Its a great game to wait for they have really thought about everything.

Just happened upon these forums as I have owned the game now since friday. Great game, no denying this at all and played in HD (which I aint got, damn all you HD owners) the graphics are stonking. But, however, the online situation, havent been able to connect so far and trying a hell of a lot, is a travesty of seismic proportions for a game that is obviously built with online in mind. Sega know this, and I imagine they are as embarrassed as buggery over it, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and thats the 11th. Dont reckon that its sega that have imposed this time frame, I would have thought it would be M$ themselves. We also have to appreciate that SEGA probably was not sure they were on to a winner with this game considering the poor reviews they have got with it, as most reviews centred on the single player rather than the online, which is what this game is all about, as the servers were not up at the time of reviewing. However SEGA do not have a habit of poorly representing their games, so I reckon they will have it sorted by the end of the 11th. It is after all us that keep the company going, and surely they wouldnt want to :):):):) us off to much. In the mean time we have extra time to perfect our skills, build the perfect Hound/Mech and learn how to play the game properly before making the jump to online and losing our lives forever

You don't know what you're talking about. The server has issues, not the game.
The servers are just getting real traffic now. You can only test so much in a lab. Live didn't completely change during beta and after release. They just beefed up the service and fixed some bugs. We still had alot of bugs after release.

Hi, Britain and all of the American.
I am Japanese who lives in Japan.
It is understood also for everyone in the sphere in English not to be able to play online apparently when the forum here is seen and to suffer well.
However, it is absolutely a mistake to think that the server cannot be logged in excluding the Japanese because SEGA is offering only the Japanese the server resource.
We Japanese looked forward to online play in everyone because it bought this game ten days or more earlier than people who were here.
Because, reason is, we are Japanese!!
We love robots!!! XD
However, it was an unbelievable error message not the candescent combat by online but 'Chrome Hounds Server was not able to be used now' that waited for us at the release date.
From some men to this phenomenon was in state being called 'The Login Online' ridiculous
It has the comic in one hand, it has the controller in one hand, it sits for a long time
before the monitor, and it prays to the god so. "let me login....please
"
We boil the industry, do, and are sending a large amount of mail and the telephones of the
complaint to the support center of SEGA.
However, after the maintenance that happens one after another, the situation is not improved.
Only to login now, I am actually gripping the controller.
The last hope we for Japanese is only very small hope that SEGA reinforces the server by ChromeHounds's being put on the market with UK・US now.
I pray, be not good when all that are here can fight online on the 11th in Japan

As a Steel Battalion veteran I was so looking forward to this game and I am glad it delivers. But the whole weekend I only managed to get online for only about an hour and then there were no games goin! It's a major issue,as none of my friends who own the game could connect to the server either.Luckily I bought it from Game,if they don't short the server problem out soon I'll take the game back at the weekend.Comparing a console game with a PC title is stupid,I expect on my console to have a hustle free online experience, unlike paying BF2 on the PC where problems are more or less expected. With a game as ambitious as CH SEGA should have been better prepared, otherwise people will give it up before it's even started.

The servers are up, well at least they where before I came to work, but there was an announcment about maintinence going on today. I'd say in about an hour you will be able to play till you're hearst content :)
The notification that there was a periodic maintenance in Japan on Tuesday every week was performed.
Users (users who were not able to log in and suffered) who had bought it at the release date expected that the situation was improved after it had maintained it.
However, comfortable was not able to be logged in after all because there was no change after it had maintained it.
And, urgent maintenance was done following the 6th and the 7th.
However, there was no change in the current state in which it was not able to be logged in that it was unbelievable after this maintenance.
If the repair of the server might not end after the maintenance on the 11th, the user in Japan has a lot of people who are taking a pessimistic view very much.
Moreover, it is one person while I also think so.
