I've noticed a lot of people have been switching over to the JP server due to recent events.
May I please ask you, be respectful when you're on this server. Importers are not suppose to be on this server in the first place (it says "Japan Only" when you first sign up). The GMs dont mind us being on there as long as we are respectful. (I had GMs welcome me to JP PSU when I first signed up)
Things to keep in mind:
Keep english public chat to a minimum. JP'ers tend to mostly talk in private chat so if you're in a team, stick to private chat.
DO NOT SPAM OR MAKE RACIAL SLURS!
When joining a random party, read the comments. Sometimes you will see "JP Only". Respect it.
The JP community can get you banned even if you dont scam/cheat/ect.
Just enjoy the server and AWESOME updates.
Mods, please keep this thread in the General Section. I know it deals with JP PSU but most people see General section more than the JP section.

I think i should post this here too
Learning the basic's will come naturally over a good month of playing, learning katakana is really easy is a very simple writing style.
Here are some of the most important link you will need for playing on jp bookmark these!
http://www.realkana.com/katakana/ this will teach you abit faster. but i didnt really use it
http://psu.amesani.org/ use this and Pedia http://psupedia.info/Main_Page for finding out the what the japanese names are for said item then copy and paste japanese into this website http://www.romaji.org/
This may come in handy as well for some i advise you check it out http://shigemo.com/FFXI/nihongo_guide.html
When it comes to playing with random japanese players all you really need to so use your shortcuts konnichiwa/こんにちは/Hello
Yoroshiku/よろしく!/Im counting on you.
Those 2 shortcuts most japanese players will use at start of party so to fit in just use those
Congrats is Omedetou/おめでとう!
Thank you is Arigatou/ありがとう
Sorry is Gomennasai/ごめんなさい
And for when the run has finished japanese players tend to say something along the lines of Otsukaresama/good job/well done/おつかれさま!
when saying goodbye Matane is used alot またねー
But... Will they even listen? >.>

Yeah when they find people have BL'ed him and eventually see his/her account disabled (If your name gets reported enough, you will be banned). There was a player a long while back who the JP hated and they eventually got his account disabled. He had to start all over.

Because SoJ actually cares about the Japan server. If there's a bug, they fix it the next day. They gives us updates Every Two Weeks.
Put it this way, which one would you care more about? A server that makes you tons of money (JP server Fee + Guardians Cash) or a server that makes you just a reasonable amount of money.
I wouldn't be suprised if the money made off Guardians Cash per year is more than the total amount of $$$ made of the 360 server per year.

Ehhh soj can suck it.all they care about is their kind.

Around $13 (for US players), because of money conversion rates.
I made the switched the the JP server the day I lost my 360 stuff.

not really. you use a standard wired xbox controller. just need a program or two and setting up the controls is a one time deal.

dont forget if you do go prem. you have to buy a gamekey. which is about 10-15(one time fee)

this is very serious!
you wont find people spamming selling stuff in their shops, or gatchas!
keep that stuff on the xbox where it belongs.

This is beyond true. Take a look:
Content Update for January 12 (http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?392384-Content-update-for-January-12-2012)
Content Update for January 19 (http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?393361-Content-update-for-January-19-2012)
Content Update for January 26 (http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?394270-Content-update-for-January-26-2012)
When was the last time Xbox got that much new content that quickly?
Also, if anyone signs up for JP PSU, you will find that it is very quiet and depending on what time you first get on, you will probably be soloing until you find some other importers. If you find yourself in that situation, PM me and we can meet up and I'll help as best I can.
One other thing, I have a decent laptop that I run JP PSU on. If you're worried that your PC can't handle it, with low enough settings I guarantee you it will run. It may not be pretty and it might look like a slideshow, but I got it to run on a netbook with a 1.5GHz processor with no video card and .99 GB of RAM. If that thing can run it, almost anything can.
Edit:
agreed. messing with controls for an hour or two is worth the content you get.
An hour or two?!... I just put it on default 2 and changed 2 of the buttons and it was almost exactly like Xbox, except I use the back button instead of left trigger and click left stick instead of right trigger

When PSU first came out I was able to play it on the following specs at the following settings:
AMD Ahtlon 64 4000+ 2.4GHz single core CPU
2 GB of RAM
300 GB HDD
ATi Radeon 9250 PCI Graphics card with 256MB of RAM
I was able to run PSU fine at the following settings:
Frameskip 1
1024x768 Resolution
Everything else on high settings.
Now if I was in a party with tons of Forces, usually lowering to 800x600 fixed that.
However later that year I upgraded to a Radeon X1950 Pro PCIe card with 512MB of RAM. After that I was able to run at max settings at 1280x1024 or 1280x720 resolution with no slow down. This is still the card I am using as I have yet to upgrade.
If you bought your computer in the past few years, you should have absolutely no problem running PSU and have it be playable, if not perfect.

wow...moved to JP thread already.
Yeah I used to think pc gaming was for geeks with too much time on their hands... Now I know it :)
Seriously tho, I wish I'd gone to the jp server 2 or 3 years ago... All the SEGA hate just melts away after a while (Its gotta be MS's fault - ahem.) Im not even slightly pc literate so if I can get this sh*t to run anyone can.
Language barriers on shop search and stuff dont last long... you figure out problems fairly quickly once you get used to it.
Generally jp players speak english anyhow once they realise you're english w/ever they type in english, some of its good english and some of it is gibberish but these guys are using a translator like you are.... type what they said in a katakana keyboard and translate if you think it was important.
Dont be an a** in the lobbies I agree... Dont be insulting about religion, race, physical attributes or appearences, ancient history, not so ancient history and the :):):)ushima plant and you'll do ok.

I don't know much at all about computers -.- . I have a PC by the way.

What is the problem? Is it that it isn't opening? Is it in slow motion?

As soon as it tries to load the whole program just crashes. Delta had me do so many things that I don't even know how to undo them lol. Which in the end made it not even start to load. And instead of saying "1.13" when you go to your settings mine said "1.12" .....

If you need someone to level with let me know, I know how boring soloing can be.
This has some helpful phrases that you can use once you 've learned how to use the translator.

I told him to keep his act together, he barely talks in game chat now.
But yesterday(or the past few days, can't remember >.<) I saw a bunch of importers openly talking in the GAM room while JP players were there

im gonna try JP server tommorrow, i played the xbox version for 3 weeks LOL and the demo for 3 years and i have to say, no sarcasm, the demo was a better experience for the simple fact that we wernt paying for stuff we wernt getting, eg: minimum content, that lag issue that took 2 weeks i recall to fix (demo never lagged, wut up sega hmmm). anyway not to bash psu i craved it for so long and gave in, little did i know the game was in such a state. cant wait to play JP.
weird and off topic you guys are making it sound a bit like inception, as long as your not an anomily you are fine, but when u start becoming loud and doing out of the ordinary things, everyone turns on you. :)

its simple. dont be a spam in lobby. dont be obcene. if you must talk to someone do it PM or the party chat function. not openly in a lobby. u will see what we mean when you get here

heres a question though, is the game free online? i heard you can p2p but there is a free version with restrictions, is this correct?

Yes, you can play for free with some pretty severe restrictions (no room, no trading/picking up stuff dropped by other players, and no GAS being the main restrictions).

When I joined I loved it. I never knew lobbies could be so quite, I have talked in the lobby a couple times but in japanese with my friend and a JP player we met and some of their friends (my friend has some knowledge on japanese so does most of the translating on items and or chat, very useful.)
