Im planning the buy phantasy star online 2 when it come even though i live in the U.S. I hope theirs forums to show players how to play even though its in japanese?
I'd rather play the game in English, but yeah, I'd buy it right away.

I will be waiting for the English release, because I like being able to read what other players are saying to me, as well as menus.
I don't know a scrap of Japanese, and not really keen on learning a whole language just to play a game that will likely release in my native language anyway.
If the Japanese one comes out a few months before the English one then ill be getting the Japanese one first then the English one after. Thats only if there are good instructions on how to create a Japanese account and only if you can pay via a yen payment card [ not credit card ].
They are announcing a release date on Monday and there are already instructions on how to play the alpha test on phantasy star blog. Oh and I'm doing this as I don't want to be left out like ps2/pc Psu left me , even though i played both 360 and ps2 version for the same very reason and I was right , unfortunately.

I will buy it english if I have the money I'll be saving money up for this game I do hope it comes for a console like ps3. Now that watched a few videos including my pc barely ran psu that I had to skip 3frames. I just hope the graphics aren't too good for my pc's internal graphics.

As much as I'd love stuff in English, I'm getting the JP version and staying there unless the English servers are combined with the Japanese.
Don't believe an explanation is necessary.
didnt someone data mine an english file thingy in the beta? tbh this should be region free with both english and JP players on the same servers.
if not ill still buy the JP one because PSU....

Well, looks like I better not even buy the game at this point. Since the US server will be devoid of people for the 2 months it'll be up with almost NO users.

uhh its not region locked since its a pc game.....they havent even announced a console release besides the vita which is region free still. and when you say for both jp and us you mean the servers connected globally right?
definitely gonna buy this on release, will of course hot key a controller and try to get familiar with any US players that might be on or attempt to talk to some of the JP players even though my Japanese is limited

the NA Blue Burst servers were shut down because of this
same with the PS2/PC servers for Phantasy Star Universe

No, they WERE shut down because everyone and their brother is playing on the JP server, instead of the NA server which is made for YOU.
@Tsuko-blue, at least I'm not the only one who realizes this.

Stop being so snippy about it. Both were crap compared to their JP equivalents. Why wouldn't people want to play on the superior version?

Deciding between Tera and PSO2 myself, which is hard since I've been able to play both of them already. I enjoyed both, but can only really keep up with one.
As for PSO2, I won't commit to JPN servers. NA/EU or bust.

Joke's on you guys. No one will be buying PSO2 (because it's gonna be free)!
...or at least that's what I've understood from the media briefing. Free to play, at the very least.
Where do i sign up for next beta test? Blaaaa...

I'll buy it when it comes out in NA. k sega? :D
Actually psu on pc / ps2 in EU/NA was very busy up untill FEB 2007 when a lot of people were banned for hacking offline items into the game , they were also causing the server to crash a lot. It was around Firebreak time , 2 full servers then down to 4 star on uni 2, almost over night.
So the people who believe psu in EU/NA was shut down because of people playing the Japanese one are very misguided or didint play , the EU/NA servers were 4 star from that feb for about 2 more years , then it was 1 star on uni 2 thereafter , the exceptions being in events uni 2 was about 3 to 4 stars at those points.
I hope to get both versions , but I will be dedicated to the EU/NA version , actually I might not even get the Japanese untill after the english one as I dont know any Japanese , psp2I was easier as it was v similar to psp2 , i got away with it.
Yay to f2p and free2own , just glad it wont be pay2win that would put me off the whole game totally.
cheers,
Vexy.

Yep I can't wait to see the improvements and how fluid the combat is.

The joke might not be on us , if the English and Japanese servers are different. F2P is a different model , if hardly anyone buys the cash items then they wont be making money , so a server could shut down early again. Obviously we don't even know if we are getting an English version yet. Lets hope we do and it is on a global server. If not as I said earlier I'll play both.
cheers ,
Vexy.

Long-time PS fan and former PSU player here!
I'll say my piece here about PSO2 and PS-related things.
I would hate to see this game come to the 360 or any other home console. Why? As a long-time PSU player, the majority of players that are still lingering around are immature kids who e-date and start drama wars all the time. To see this happen to PSO2 would be a desecration to not only the game's environment, but to the dignity of Phantasy Star in general. Please keep this PC-only. The minimum specs for this game are absurdly low for a a game these days and it doesn't cost much to buy or build a cheap PC and use a 360 controller to play. Hell, you can apply for a government program which can pay for personal expenses and use that FREE money for your PC!
I will most likely buy the japanese version, even if I don't understand katakana. Anything to get rid of the rotten and sour taste that our version of PSU left in my mouth...

You're a little late, PSO2 was also confirmed for Vita and iOS/Android. But still no 360 version thank goodness.

The Vita is still a little steep in price, and it's still the first gen of the console. Anyone remember the myriad of problems with the PSP-1000?
Most people who can afford the Vita at this time are a little more on the mature side, and most parents aren't willing to shell out that much cash for a system that still doesn't have that much going for it right now when their kids still have games for their previous system(s) that they haven't finished. Or, maybe that's just how I would be if I had a kid.
Plus, the people who would be on 24/7 on the Vita would have to be using 3G anyway (unless basement dweller, at which point they'd just use PC anyway), which is even more cash to shell out.

^This is correct. PSO2 will be free to download and free to play, but will have a cash shop for certain clothes, hairstyles, room decorations, etc.
