The Characters you create can be saved and used in the upcomming close beta!

http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193791

This will save me about three hours or that it will take me to create my 1st charater. ^.^;

Is this English? If so this is sweet, character creation is always my favorite part in a game. Maybe I'll finally get to make a perfect 3D version of PSIV's Rika.

I feel so bad for my friend. I gave him the benchmark for PSO2. He ran it on his computer and got a score of 13. It took half an hour to run.

....I think he needs a new computer.

How do you put your character in the Benchmark video? That's pretty neat.

Xtreme Starfox
04-05-2012, 09:34 PM
When your making your character save it via the method of the bottom left blue button. (Not the usual load/save thing.)
Name it whatever and then if you run the benchmark your character will be in place of the HUmar.

Kinda silly how it does it though, if you want to see your same character in the benchmark after closing it you'll need to load it and save it again named as something else.

You know, with all the other shiny buttons on the screen and customize options, I totally overlooked that one.

I feel mildly silly now.

This game is looking great but I personally am not down with the whole FOcast thing.

The FOcast and FOcaseal are definitely different, and I agree the defaults look a little funny. I think they're intended purely as healers and melee damage (think D&D clerics). CASTS have innately high HP (and I think their DEF is a bit better than most on classic PSO? Not sure, never played one), essentially making them a tougher spellcaster, and their durability makes them a bit more reliable as a healer in dangerous situations.

Though, as someone else will surely point out as rudely as possible: "then don't play them." As far as I'm concerned, your account, your characters (I personally will be playing a FOnewm that looks like a FOmar). Just please don't prejudge the people who DO play them (as I know some people are apt to do). This is not directed specifically at you, but in general.

And my main, which is the mostly the same as alpha except with different clothes. The save menu got a bit messy, lol.

It's not really a big deal for me; I just think it makes the characters less unique.

I wish I could read Japanese. I don't know which is what.
Especially since I keep accidentally hitting random.
Dubble Bubble Double Edit: after nine years in development, I finally did NOT push "Random".

Ctr+Z works fine if you push random, and those arrows in the botom right corner too.

I can't remake one of my characters from the alpha, his face was based on one of the defaults, but this one has changed since the alpha :\ too lazy to remake it all...

Remade my FOnewearl and made a new HUcaseal:

OK, couple of things:

1. The chara creator has a setup option (second button on the splash screen) that allows you change detail level (first tab, it's a big slider) and screen size (third tab, the second is disabled). That should help people see if they can run the game better with their current rigs by sacrificing a bit of pizzazz. Even at the lowest detail level, the game looks awesome.

2. The data for created chara is stored in My Documents\SEGA\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2. Look for a file with your chara name followed by an extension that ends with P, for player. F is female, M is male, H human, N newman, C cast. You can share that file with others. EXAMPLE: Jexkay.mhp

3. To load a chara (once you put the file in the directory above), go to the character creator and choose the same race and gender as the chara. Then once in the creator proper (with all the options), scroll the menu all the way down, third option from the bottom is Load. You'll see a list where the chara's name should appear, and when you click on the name, the model on the right should change to reflect the new data. From there just save (bottom left button) until you exit the creator, and run the benchmakr to see the loaded chara in action.

I try to do it, but I still see that generic HUmar.

EDIT: Wait, nevermind, I was writing a invalid name.

The game only reached the Beta status, so we'd better wait and see. That's not going to be in the game. The only thing race determines is statistics, and the differences between races seem to be far from significant, since most stats come from your class levels and skill tree.
It's not really a big deal for me; I just think it makes the characters less unique.Less unique means easier to balance, so it's really the preferred situation here.

Well, damn. Looks like they were right on the fact that choosing a race and a class will no longer lock you to a certain selection of weapons.

And I take for granted that CASTs are no longer immune to poison as well?

The only thing "special" about casts is that they have different clothing items.

As I thought.

Words can't describe how dissapointed I am right now about it.

Anyway, what's the best class for using the gunslash?

The Hunter or the Ranger?

I've seen Forces use them to restore PP quickly to go back to casting, which is where their damage comes from.

I guess it's just me; but I kinda don't like them making the game easier.
I hear they are making maps smaller and enemeis easier to defeat, which would be a downer for me

This was really neat and gives you a chance to see what the game might be like. Is there a place that describes what kind of score would be needed to run the game at certain settings. I saw a few 30fps and got a score around 1600 (I think). Is this good, bad?

mid range is 2k to 5k. heres a sort of guide http://bumped.org/psublog/pso2-the-character-creator-demo-is-up-plus-mini-guide/

Also, is it true that this game, instead of a character level system, is a class level system?

Forces will have an easier weapon to recover PP in the Talis, same range in normal attacks or techs. I like smashing my rod on the enemies head just attacking techs so recovering PP was not a problem lol

While this is true, bear in mind Forces' fragility, and it may be impractical at some points to use your beatstick, and a ranged attack may be more practical. Especially since that was A2, and there were no boosted enemies yet, or high-end difficulty modes. A high-end difficulty mode boosted enemy may very well one-hit you.

So, since it's a class level system (according to PSO World), why not getting some Hunter perks? Also, will Rangers have access to Healing traps?
