Does anybody like the Gamecube/GBA Versions of Super Monkey Ball better than the Wii/DS/3DS Versions or is it just me. I was very dissapointed with Banana Blitz after playing Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 on GC And JR on GBA.

Gamecube versions were pretty great. That was my first intro to the series at a friends place. :)

I always liked SMB2 the best. (Where the hell is AV in all of this?)

If I'm not mistaken, AV is currently known as Ryū ga Gotoku (Yakuza) studio. Responsible for (as their name would imply) the excellent Yakuza series and Binary Domain.

Get the iOS games - they're actual REAL sequels and have the quality of the originals.

While not bad games for the price, they are nowhere near the quality of the originals. Banana Splitz is a far better game than the iOS offerings, and actually does come close to being as good as the first two games.

Haven't got the earlier games, but Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition on the iPad is amazing and the app that I play the most. In fact, I've finished it, but still come back for the minigames and the randomness of the Quick Plays.

P.S.: I'm thinking about buying the GameCube games. Good idea?

Would explain why Banana Splitz was bashed and claimed to be the worst Monkey Ball yet.

You're confusing it with Super Monkey Ball 3D. Anyone who claims that Banana Splitz is the worst one yet, either hasn't played a Monkey Ball game since SMB2 on Gamecube, or doesn't know what a good game is.

I've never heard of those, so they're obviously doing a crap job at making and/or selling games. (Oh, and wheres our new F-zero?)

They aren't widely marketed in the West. They are, however, really good games. Both of them have a sub-forum on this site.

Any Nintendo related questions, would be more appropriate on their forums.

Machinima 3/10

The solo game in Banana Splitz is competent and enjoyably challenging. Every other component of this package is a challenge to enjoyment.

Gamespot 5/10

While it's not offensively bad like Super Monkey Ball Adventure, you'll most likely want to roll right on past this one.

Sure I exaggerated worst, but that doesn't mean it isn't a medoicre game overall. Claiming people don't know good games actually means YOU just don't know a good game.

Those reviews basically prove my point. They compare this game to the original games, and it isn't quite on par with those, never denied that.

I know what a good Monkey Ball game is. Banana Splitz is, easily, the best one since the originals.

yes, it is your destiny

Well I'm pretty sure Sega and AV did all of the work in F-Zero GX, so I believe that kind of question belongs here

Gamecube version were perfect. They went and ruined it with motion control.

I've ordered the 2 GC games on Amazon, and I was wondering about whether or not I should also get Super Monkey Ball Adventure? Would it be a good game to get or should I save my money for that really expensive Skies of Arcadia GC Port?

I rented the GCN ( back when renting was normal ), game. Honestly it was one of the most funnest things I have ever played in my life. I am looking foward to buying both games for the GCN and even the GBA game.

The GBA game was also very impressive, for that console. Amazing to be honest. I wish I did own that game, but I only played for a day or two. That was super awesome.

................

You really can't compare the games to the newer games, because those are the originals. All they did was add more mini-games are levels, but honestly Monkey Ball is a great series, and should hve great succes

They are way better, simply because the level design is better. The games are just all around better.

No, motion control didn't ruin the game, it just made it a bit more challenging and fun. I do agree, however, that the GCN versions were literally perfect by how simple, yet challenging they were. The party games were a plus because if you were getting frustrated in the main game, you could just go to monkey fight and punch out your frustrations. They need to release HD remakes of the first 2 and even add online gameplay to make the deal that more sweet :)
