Played against a DD/ Scout team the other night where the scout collected combass and the DD guarded the base, we lost the Combas battle but it gave us a good idea for 2v2 and even 3v3 (add a HVG). I run a TC with sniper rifles, analace cannon and MGs my partner runs a fast Scout with only 4 MGs. It's pretty simple, the Scout grabs Combass and i tell him where the enemy is so he can avoid them,, if the enemy starts to get close to the base I have plenty of warning to set up in a good snipe spot and take them down, legs first. Against the DD teams this wrks like magic against Pilers i send the scout in to take down his chasis with MG and then I snipe from above. Not enough gun power to take out two heavily armored HOUNDs but we can ussually slow them down enough that by the time they realise we are playing combass tag it's too late. I know i will probably get a bunch of hate for not walking to the middle of the field and just shooting it out but I figure that since "tactics" is what the T stands for in TC it's all good in the hood.

Hey man, if you've got a set of HOUND builds and tactics that you can adjust to win games, then go for it. DD builds need to learn that firepower isn't everything, and if you're winning games with light hounds like that, more power to you.

i'm with you man, but we tend to kill'em for the points. take out the legs
till they're sparking then send the scout in to circle them.
i'm a TC\scout in big games this lets my mates move on to the next one faster

Agreed. That is why this game has lost a ton of luster in my eyes as the tactics have gone completely out the window in most cases. I think the lack of tactics is mainly due to the lack of 4+ games. When you're playing 1v1 or 2v2 or even 3v3 on the more populated maps (ie South Cemo Oil Fields) there's no motivation to grab COMBAS towers or strategize when ou can go into a private chat and just battle it out. It's exactly as you said: go to the middle and battle it out.

This game has SO much more to offer than that, and it'd be nice to consistently get those type of matches. I never play less than 4v4 (whenever I actually bother playing) and I prefer to have a more diverse set of mechs. A TC, a scout are must haves and the other two spots are up for debate depending on the map. There's three ways to win matches, kills, COMBAS tower wins or base kills. Most people only concentrate on killing the other mechs, but when you're versatile enough to do all three at any moment, then you've truly got a winning combination.

Ya know what map you need good tactics to win on? Southworth highway in Taijin. There's only 4 ways across. 2 are right next to each other so it's more like 3 ways across. A TC (with tactics) makes or breaks you on that map.
