Hello all,
I am glad to see so many hard core gamers for Iron Phoenix here. Hopefully you guys can give me some better feedback then what I am reading on the websites.
I just got the game today and played it for about an hour. I am thinking about getting an Xbox LIVE account. How popular is this game on LIVE?
Do you see a lot of players online during heavy traffic hours? How often do 16 player games actually form? Do you see a lot of newbies playing the game? Do the newbies stay around to actually get good?
Some questions about the game play. Does the fighting get confusing when there are 16 players playing? What number of players is best for you to enjoy the game? Do people who button mash have a chance to win? Are there flaws in the gameplay or AI that people can exploit to win most of the time?
Please let me know your opinion. Feel free to Email me at PS3_Hitosuji@yahoo.com
Thanks much

Opinions differ but for what it's worth mine is this :
When the US is awake there is usually something to join. Most popular mode seems to be Challenge Ring which is 2nd least popular with myself.
If 12 are in one game you have a big game. Occasionally there will be more. It's rare to see 16 at once. Don't let this put you off though because 6 or more is always good.
When there are heaps of fighters at once yes it does get confusing but it rocks this way. You must have eyes in the back of your head and it pays to be very aggressive. The difference between winning and losing can be getting your special moves off before others do theirs. If you follow these 2 ideals then the chances of you getting more kills than being killed increase. The beauty is though that sometimes you get lucky and get a lot more kills while other times you are extremely unlucky and just seem to die before you finish others off yourself. You can really get on a roll either way.
Personally anywhere between 6 and 16 players is the best but that isn't taking lag into account and at times 16 might be too much to have a fast flowing match.
Button mashing can and does work. I have won that way myself but the truly skilled will still win more than they lose.
There is really hardly any gameplay flaws. All weapons have strengths and weaknesses and some work better than others. Some are better in certain modes, on certain stages and with certain characters. There is a weapon that has an inifinite move that can be difficult to escape but rarely does anyone do it.
It's a good community.
There are a few idiots but it is a better community than a lot of other games.
Enjoy.

Thanks so much for the reply and information.
I will give the game a try and look for all your gamer tags online. Sounds like I will have to learn all the tricks of the game myself.
I will post my gamer tag once I get it so you all know who's the newbie. PS3_hitosuji already was taken :(.
Thanks again!

Yo wazzup. Welcome!
You know what, I will give out some training lessons anytime. I will be on from this weekend to then on. So yeah, you choose the weapon...ill teach. The community of pros consist of available time to give out training lessons (half of the time). Just feel free to ask questions.
I can give out good lessons for some of the most basic weapons and definitely can get you on a good start.
Weapons I Train: *Dagger*, Hammer, Spear, Flame of Heaven, Phoenix Wings.

Just put in your head that its top of the line gfx for Present-gen. Seriously, just cuz the framrates barely jump doesnt mean the gfx are bad. The backgrounds and models and all that other stuff all rendering together does very well. Although the faces on most of the chicks are who.re faces.
