I know I know the question has probably come up a billion times
on OMGTEHGGSITE.COM/FORUM but since I'm not a member
on any of these sites tell me.
How did you get into Guilty Gear in the first place?
For me I had heard about it and I new that it had strong
musical influince by bands that I was into at the time
but Never really went for it.
Almost rented it a few times but there was always a reason I
went to rent a game in the first place and never went with GuiltyGear.
Then the news of the Sammy Merge came about with SEGA who
are my Co favorite games company along with Capcom
So that gave me the final push too rent the game too see what level
of Designers SEGA were being merges with and hope it didnt taint
there level of work I was slightly worried..
Few days later I baught GGX2 Reloaded and the rest is history.
YOU?!?!?
It's "Reload" not "Reloaded".

Nope, broken..
Sammy where rubbish really ...
Iron Phoenix was pretty crap
Seven Samurai 20XX was reallly crap
Spy Fiction was second rate crap (second too MGS)
and then there was about 20 games based on Slot Machines
Which are also really crap.
Compared too SEGA who basicly owned the late 80's and 90's
along with Nintendo.
Lets Recap,
Sammy:
1 good game series
and slot machine company
SEGA:
Many good consoles,
Kings of the Arcades,
Developer of the best Arcade hardware,
Leader of console firsts (First online console and more)
HardCore game developers like SmileBit, Team Andromida and AM2
Anime, Toy and Music subsidarys.
Many MANY great game franchises includeing first 3D Fighter (VF1)
Now can we keep on subject please?
Or is everyone here too scared too admit
when and why they got into the series incase there not
as big of a GuiltyGearGeek as the next person?

I got it on a whim from toys r us a few months after Penny-Arcade made a comic on it back in 2003.
Then started going to camelot arcade to play in the arcade after I decided I wanted to learn what the people at gfaqs were talking about, and met burning vigor randomly, who taught me how to play bridget. I started going a lot and thats how I ended up getting into the guilty gear competitive scene.
I've never much cared for the guilty gear "fandom" which to me equates to vastly overweight fangirls who wear cat ears (NEKOMIMI LOL) at all times and write bad yaoi fanfiction which simaltaneously slags people who disagree with their fantasy claims that "ky x sol = canon" and debases jam for getting in the way with such child-like envy you just want to smack them, all while clutching their justice plushie they bought off ebay for 200 bucks and using it to "gratify" themselves with it.
No, I certainly don't care for these people at ALL.
Sorry, a bit of a tangent there...

I got given the game by someone who didn't like it and liked it.
Then I played Isuka and hated that. I'm back to XX, Isuka is really, really annoying =/

Xain Xodik I understand your pain, I love most SEGA games
But I am avid fan of Sonic games expically 2D ones but half of the fanbase is made up of annoying kids.
Asking questions like 'Should Sonic and Amy get married'
It just.. really makes me grind my teeth.
At least there isnt any cheap gay sex fanfic novels
about Sonic and Knuckles! That would drive me insane..
Although there is one or too random fan girls that insist they
think Sonic or Shadow is hot..
Which.. is probably illegal -_-''

But Sammy doesn't make Guilty Gear, they just helped publish it.
Kinda like how EA doesn't make games any more.

Well, Thats like saying SonicTeam make Sonic games not SEGA.
Arc are part of what made up Sammy they were owned by Sammy.
Now there part of SEGA.
EA is different EA buy games companys, ruin them,
Down grade the graphics and gameplay..

But Arc System Works only makes Guilty Gear. No one from Sammy helps out except to publish the game.
GG is an Arc game, not a Sega or Sammy game.
And the Daisuke is the man behind Arc, he create GG both for character design, story, music, art, etc.
The man is very talented.

Ok your missing the point here yes Arc made the game
developed it and everything still Arc is part of SEGA.
Take Shenmue,
its 100% developed by AM2
and 100% created Yu Sasuki (a gamming god)
But still they are part of SEGA.
SEGA, Capcom, Nintendo or any company
are made up of lots of different sub companys.
Arc made GG yes but they are still part of the bigger picture Sammy
or now SEGA, Its like a family.

every game isnt a part of M$ but Arc is a part of Sammy
It's like this S(S(X)
'x' being arc who made GG. Their a part of sammy which is a part of sega which also makes it not only a arc game but a SEGA-Sammy game as well.

The game is good because daisuke made it. The SEGA label here means nothing.
I also consider it an undesirable to be so swayed by labels to purchase games. It means you don't consider 3rd party games.
When that happens, no creative indie work is ever done (because it doesn't sell) and the corporation in question uses in-house people to churn out soulless games designed for a specific demographic.
Infact, you are witnessing this effect right now. Why else would there be so many sports and war games out there? The market is flooded with this BS, and it's because of people who cling to a label or advertiser and use that as a basis to judge the the quality of the product. Oh it's a "SEGA" game. Oh it's a "NINTENDO" game, or square, or sony, or microsoft, etc.
The merger did nothing to change the quality that arc systems is known for, and therefore SEGA should not accept praise for it.
I am especially proud of arc for their creativity and excellence in designing their games, and I would mind you not to take that away from them by polluting the purity of that quality with your silly little console warmongering.

Yes it does. It give them the exposure they desperately need.

SEGA is 3rd party dummy.

SEGA is very creative so your point is in-valid. We're not talking about EA here.

Sports players arent real gamers. Most of the time they like anything to do with their favorite sport--In and outside of gamming.
The merger did nothing to change the quality that arc systems is known for, and therefore SEGA should not accept praise for it.
Their not accepting praise for anything. Its not my fault that SEGA has been known for quality. having the SEGA seal on the game ups the quality believe it or not.

SEGA isnt console specific. shows how much you know.
I'm glad arc did a good job too. I'm not trying to take anything away from them. I'm ADDING to them by saying their a part of SEGA. SEGA is not taking credit for anything they did.

Maybe, but the fact of the matter is-- I only buy SEGA titles. I've been like this long before Arc came around.
Xain Xodik

but you are certainly GIVING them more credit than they deserve for it.
Labels are unimportant. It's the games that matter.
And, despite your slight hero-worship for SEGA (then again, what forum are we on here? hahaha), it's actually a bad thing when developers become fewer and less independant. Larger developers are less likely to take risks in any given market.
Obviously, "3rd party" is not the words I meant to use here, considering the context. Small + independant companies are better for nearly any market, and sega has never been small except in the early days.
Now, I wasn't trying to discredit SEGA, or say they are part of the trend. I used it as an example of how people who cling to labels cause the market stagnate because of how little attention gets payed to smaller publishers. This behavior, while consequence-less knowing it's SEGA, is important to note seeing as the same label clinging occurs for nintendo, microsoft, and other large companies. And odd that you didn't say anything about the war games... war games and sports games are EXAMPLES of demograhics whoring that these large companies are guilty of.
This is all beside the point. It's not important that guilty gear happens to be affiliated loosely with SEGA now, as arc is still doing it's own thing. I don't discredit them for picking it up, cuz I trust SEGA to not put their hands to daisuke's creation.
But give credit where credit is due. Only daisuke deserves anything for the greatness of guilty gear. A hard working man, who created the greatest fighting game in existence. The game is not instantly better just because it's now a sega game, it is as good as it had always been, and the only person that could make it any better is daisuke himself. Labels don't matter, only games.
And that last line? I don't care if you quote it and say that I'm wrong, cuz it won't change my mind. Labels don't matter, only games.
And seriously, I'm not trying to argue here. Unlike some people, I don't post for my ego.

Then you my friend, are not a gamer.
One who just buys games just because of a label don't truely apreciate the value of a game and the hard working people that made it.

Well, that's your opinion and I cant change it.
I believe SEGA makes the best titles--And since SEGA makes the best titles they are the one's I tend to buy. Also, since I have a limited supply of money I dont have enough to go around, so I had to make a tuff decision.
How can you say "[you] don't truely apreciate the value of a game and the hard working people that made it." when you have no Idea why I do what I do?
It's not like I buy everything SEGA makes either. If they release cr@p. (shadow the hedgehog, condemned) I wont buy that either.

First of all I respect Xain Xodik's opinion he is clearly intelligent.
I buy games I like, no matter the company but I am faithful
too SEGA for there extremely good titles and there will too
keep aiming at the more hard core gammer market
even when 2 years ago they almost went bankrupt
after the erly death of the DreamCast they didnt give into
Games based on movies or American Gangsta games like GTA.
SEGA unlike most big games companys is a massive risk taker
they make many unique and great games.
Another good thing about SEGA is that when a smaller company
becomes a SEGA SubCompany like Arc and TCA
they allow them too do what ever they want and dont rush them at all.
This is VERY rare!
Take EA as soon as EA takes part in a hostile buyout (they always are)
They rush the sub companys and often tell them what too do.
Which is why you notice a drop in quolity.
I am not saying SEGA should take the credit for anything Arc does
all I'm saying is its a SEGA game. Simple as that
It was a sammy game Sammy owned Arc systems works
and now SEGA does, they are a subcompany.
Luckyly SEGA are very open and let Arc do what they like
at there own pase.
Your actually very lucky SEGA is there holding company and no anyother!
As for anyone that doubts SEGAs power, I suggest you
try out some of there game series
Shenmue and Panzer Dragoon are 2 of my favorite of a vast amout
of great games.
P.S Saiten-Genjo-Sanzo-Hosu,
Condemned was actually a really great game. IGN gave it a 8.7
I think the offical Xbox mag gave it something in the 9's too.
I'm actually really impressed with CCO.

I dont like it for different reasons. SEGA gave in and published a FPS. I'm not too happy about that. It's too mainstream and too violent--so for me that ='s cr@p.
but I am glad it got a good score and hopes it sell well. I just wont be buying it.

the question is, are you not a fan of FPS because you don't like the gameplay, or because you have something against the mainstream?
oh wait, that was already answered...

Condemned is actually SEGAs IP
so its not like they suddenly signed there soul away.
I really like FPS but this game is more innovative then just a FPS
its more like a phycological thriller in a first person view.
The use of guns is almost nonexistant its more hand to hand combat
like ripping things off the walls useing axes and hammers.
I wouldnt say its Aimed at the mainstream at all.
More Aimed at the hardcore PC gamers since its not run and gun action
more story driven and scary.
But yes its probably the most violent game ever made by far
the hole head butting someone in first person and a fatality move
is so damn cool i could pee myself.
(blood fests CAN be my cup of tea if pulled off well)

I buy the games i like, no matter which company made it, too! But most of my games are CAPCOM's. So I love CAPCOM's games the most :D ! They all have excellent CG, easy gameplay, and the stories are always interesting ^^. About SEGA, I love only SHINOBI and SONIC series, they're really great!!! I was SHOCKED that SEGA was in charge of Guilty Gear Isuka with ARC, instead of Sammy!! And I'd say that GGI was absolutely bad, much worse than GGXX#R**!!

1. isuka is not part fo the main game line, it was mearly a test run for a heavy multiplayer game that everyone has different views on.
2. isuka was made by sammy, it was theyre last project before the merge.
