:lol: No, I've actually been thinking about doing this with a game like Sonic CD for a while, but since since all the "Riders Rave" is still going on, I figured this would be more appropriate. Besides, someone *cough* hasn't been updating the Rush competition......

I haven't played it much either, to tell the truth. I just ran through everything once to give everyone a starting point. I was going to allow any record, but I decided Time Attack would be better since there is no turbulence to help you.....this way, everyone is only relying on their personal skill, instead of luck.

Surprisingly, I have atleast one score so far better than yours...this *is* surprising considering I've only played through time attack for 9 of the 16 stages. The rest have no time at all.

So let's see, what I *do* have that's better..

Night Chase - Lap: 00'41'35, Dr. Robotnik (Heavy Bike)
White Cave - Lap: 00'45'77, Knuckles (Grinder)

Heh...just 2 lap times.

I'm pretty sure most of my time attack runs were just practice runs for me to learn the stage..I know a bit more of the stages now, so let's see if I can go set some records.

I haven't played it much either, to tell the truth. I just ran through everything once to give everyone a starting point. I was going to allow any record, but I decided Time Attack would be better since there is no turbulence to help you.....this way, everyone is only relying on their personal skill, instead of luck.

Yeah. I was in the middle of typing out "Isn't it harder to get a low time on grand prix, due to other racers and being attacked, than time attack, where you have no obstacles?" but then I realized...turbulence.

Of course, turbulence has harmed me many times, mostly by the computer players strategically placing it so shortcuts are blocked off, or I can't charge a jump off a ramp to a shortcut, but still...turbulence is too luck based, and thus free race and grand prix times are out.

Although having a seperate section for grand prix and free race times might be interesting, it'd be tons of work to keep up with; although I'd think grand prix and free race times could be considered the same, because for a given 3 lap race, there is no difference between if it took place in grand prix or free race.

I've got Super Sonic, but he is really only good to use in a stage with alot of rings. (He runs on rings instead of air) If you run out of rings, you turn back into regular Sonic just as he would be if he ran out of air(running slow).

I don't have Super Sonic, and I never will. Just *beating* all of the missions was hard enough at points, *forget* getting all golds on them.

Although I do need to work on finishing rebuilding the boards. But that is so damn tedious, when a single race can give you onyl 3 or 4 of a certain color, if you're lucky.

You know what? I'm going to get that heavy bike and try it with Eggman. It seems Nack's really good with him.

I have 3 different characters I use based upon certain situations.

They all happen to be my 3 favorite characters.

Knuckles with Grinder is my favorite character and gear combo, and I use him the most.

But for certain situations, I may change. If I need flight, too, I'll choose Knuckles and Magic Carpet. If I feel like flying differently, I may choose Rouge. I only play Rouge with skates because that's just cool. Generally I choose grinder.

If I only need power, I'll choose Robotnik and Heavy Bike.

If the only real benefit to a stage is speed only or flight type only, I'll choose either Knuckles with Grinder/Magic Carpet, or Rouge with Grinder, based upon which character I feel like playing at the moment.

Keep trying man. Let me tell you, these times aren't easy, despite how we make it look. Even we have to struggle.

That Ice Factory time I had set earlier? I tried seriously no less than 25 times in a row before I got that.

The trick is to play through the track once or twice, not worrying too much about time but just seeing where shortcuts are.

Then you play through the track as fast as possible, and then inspect where you could've done better.

Also, here's a big tip. Sometimes you have to make your own shortcuts to get the best times. Alot of my high scores are an effect of me doing that.

Most of the time I mix and match the games own obvious shortcuts and my own created shortcuts. There's the tip.

:lol: I know what you mean. I used to get (bad) blisters from playing the tug-o'-war mini game in Mario Party. I'm not having too much of a problem with the "rotate the control stick" parts of Sonic Riders, but it is the most annoying part of the game. I always try to take the shortest path through them.

here is some advice... getting as much rings as u can in your first and second lap is a definite, the level-3 boost is really handy. pick a person that is really good at the stage, example: knuckles for metal city and night chase since there are a lot of cars. if u can find the 100 ring bubble in the first lap it really helps u. always keep enough air so you wont run out of air. go for ss and x tricks on those big jumps.

:lol: What a difference one letter can make. Anyway, I like to use power types most of the time since you can just bulldoze the road and not have to worry about bumping into obstacles. Flight types seem to be the slowest, whereas power types can move just as fast as speed types when equipped properly.

i noticed that today...i was playing as rouge wit the air broom (my favorite gear) ^___^ and i was going so fast cause i got so many rings and i kept on dashing then i would go to jumps and stuff and regain it all and thats how i got that time...

It only takes a while if you are using those refill stations. I have no problem getting air through containers and tricks. Besides, every time you level-up, your air tank is refilled automatically. I do see your point though....

The Chaos Emerald is the gear you unlock when you get gold on all the missions. Only Sonic can use it and when he does, he becomes Super Sonic.

if u like dashing a lot then i suggest using the darkness air shoes cuz they consume less air. its the only gear i really use as u can see by my records, cuz i like to dash a lot too. and take the characters shortcuts so u can gain some extra air. and as for tricks, all i can say is trick wisely :lol:

Mostly because getting the 100 ring capsule is so damn frustrating. Whether I miss completely and fall off, get knocked off by an egg spinner, or worse, just fly right through the ring capsule and yet not get it...it's really aggravating.

It makes all the difference if you can get it on the first lap. It's one of the few 100 ring containers that actually lie along the shortest path. Most of the time, you'll find it too far out of the way to even bother getting it.

I have officially determined that I cannot do Digital Dimension. I just suck at getting the rings.

Wow, the leader board has been updated 41 times. A new record! 8) Well, at least it's more than I've ever seen.

Anyway, I've tried to get my times up, but I still can't come close to any of these. I think I'll go try and get that chaos emerald gear. :shock: This is going to be fun. :(

Me too, but I don't have any sort of digital camera, be it video or just screenshots. I'll get one someday, like when I have a job.

...But right now I don't even have my own computer, I'm having to use my dads when he's not on it because mine is in a shop getting fixed.

Also I have just been formally challenged, what with the breaking of my Ice Factory record. I'll have to do something about that.

Man, this took alot of tries. Mostly I was just trying to not screw up the jump into Chu Chu Rocket, but on the last lap what really helped is that the rocket into Spache Channel 5 was like 5x faster than normal for some reason, so I did much better even though I still managed to screw up the jump into Chu Chu Rocket.

yeah, and i need alot more gears too....and also is the cannonball worth getting?No it No is No not. I saved up for it, and it is a complete waste. for one, you can't attack opponents. Two, you can only boost after like every 4 seconds, which is not very helpfull on time trial. Three, the boost (even at level 3) is awfully slow.

ok the key to use the darkness shoes is boosting. u need to keep a good amount of air. and it also depends on who u are using in the stage.

First of all, who do you use?

Second bit of advice, be creative in your routes. Some of my best times are because I didn't follow the standard road or shortcut.

I try to use either power or flight characters(depending on the track) with the grinder gear. I tried to use Eggman with the heavy gear on metal city, but I only got 2'03"83.(oh, it was supposed to be 3 seconds the whole time)

the reason i like the darkness shoes so much is because it consumes less air than all the gear, so it allows me to boost more, and believe me the only time i'm not boosting is when i'm the red area. the grinder shoes are really good especially with knuckles.

Yeah I did mean 51. Also I can't believe you think Egg Factory has an easy 100 ring capsule..

Ice Factory just gives me trouble getting the capsule while still maintaining speed. Normally I go like a centimeter to the side of it, or slam into the frozen egg spinner.

yeah all 70 of them....ym do you have to get all the boards thats in it...cause all those junks you collect actually gives you a manual to fix the boards...i got one thats called the power something and the others are called the turbo star and the fastest....do you have to get them?

There are 100 missions, not 70. I'm guessing you didn't unlock the Sega Tracks(SEGA CARNIVAL and SEGA ILLUSION). You unlock them by getting gold on both cups in the WGP.

:D Well, congrats and good luck! SEGA CARNIVAL is a mix of Samba de Amigo, Billy Hatcher, Nights, Monkey Ball and Crazy Taxi. SEGA ILLUSION is a mix of Samba de Amigo, Nights, Space Channel 5, and Chu Chu Rocket.

No, Shadow has no role in the story. The story mode only consists of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Jet, Wave and Storm. I personally find this game very enjoyable. The controls take some getting used to, but it's still a fun game.

Does Shadow have a role in the story?He is only unlockable, for some reason his voice is quieter than the music :? but if you listen carefully, his quotes are SA2ish, giving some hope for Shadow's better personality in future games(ok a bit off topic :roll: ). The game's storyline is horrible(cheesy dialogue, lame plot, shorter and less interesting than 1 path in ShTH), but gameplay is great, and thats what really matters.

The one problem I have with Grand Prix records is that the best of them will be set by people choosing character/gear combos for that one specific stage, as it's not reported if they completely blew it on every other stage.

So I'll likely be focusing more on Time Attack and Free Race than Grand Prix records.

Let me see if I have any records that just happen to be better though

Its not like having the best score gives some kind of status symbol, any fake submission is just a waste of effort since they will remember it in guilt instead of pride(it sounds corny, but its true).

Hi newbie! As Black_Zephyr said, it's a matter of trust. The whole point of holding a competition such as this is so people can see how they fair against others. It would be pointless for them to cheat. I'll have you know though....if anyone of you dares to submit a fake time and I find out about it, I'll delete any records you currently have on the board and cease to post anymore of your new records.

if you wanna beat any records ur gonna have to destroy ur fingers in the process :lol:. the time attack records are nearly impossible to beat especially that metal city time for time attack i just cant beat that time. guess ur gonna hold that records for a while nack

yo supes you have an awesome time for the best lap in metal city, i cant come close to that time. i tried for like 2 hours using different boards and people and i still couldnt do it.Yeah, I pretty much mastered a good lap time. I actually always get last place though, it requires a lot of prepping.

Why don't you go try making one? If you make a competiton topic though, you will have to keep up with updating the times as people post them.
