There still remains no arcade perfect port of my beloved classic, Virtua Fighter 2. :(
I was hoping that SEGA would include "Arcade History mode" in VF5 including complete Arcade Perfect ports of Virtua Fighter 1, 2 & 3 (VF4 Final Tuned would've also been great!).
I really think SEGA should make them available for download in the near future, whether it's via Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network or even http://www.shopsega.com/
SEGA needs to start displaying self-respect for it's illustrious history and heritage so it will truly earn the respect it deserves.

Welcome Shredder, Although there wont be any Arcade Perfect ports
in VF5 (that we know of)
I have no doubt that one day there will be a VF Collection.
When, is a different story.
Uh...Which Virtua Fighter came with an "Arcade Perfect" port of VF (1) running at 60fps?

You're talking about Virtua Fighter 10th Anniversary that was included with VF4: Evolution for PS2 in North America... it's not an Arcade port but a mixture of elements from VF1 and VF4 combined into one game.

VF2 for the saturn I felt was an absolutely beautiful version of the arcade game. Especially if you consider they both were running of the Model2 board.

I would like to try out the first three Virtua Fighter though I tried out the first one on Evolution. This can be a good oppurtunity for VF fans to play Taka-Arashi. How I wonder why AM-2 thought of this fighter in the first place, and that they later find it complicated to develop.

The first sumo wrestler in a fighting game was E. Honda of Street Fighter, next was Ganryu of Tekken (the first one in 3D) and then came Taka-Arashi of Virtua Fighter... sumo wrestlers tend to look alike.
Here's a little video of Taka-Arashi in action:

There still remains no arcade perfect port of my beloved Virtua Fighter 2
I'm whishing, praying and hoping that SEGA will not only make Virtua Fighter 5 Arcade Perfect for the PS3 but also to include an Arcade History section with complete Arcade Perfect ports of VF 1, 2 and 3... or at least make them available for download via PS3's PlayStation Store in the near future.
SEGA seriously needs to start respecting it's illustrious history as much as it's core fan base does...
Yes there is, there's a Virtua Fighter 2 for PlayStation 2. I own it, it was released from SegaAges 2500 and sold in Japan, but I purchased it off of ebay, and was able to play it with my sbox mod key.

Unfortunatelly, the SEGA AGES version of VF2 for PS2 was far from being Arcade Perfect... :(

The Ps2 can't emulate the Virtual fighter 2 game perfect. The Sega Saturn verision is. Was there a Virtual Fighter 3 for Sega saturn. I saw it on a magazine when I was young that it would come out for Sega saturn but not sure if it did.

The Ps2 can't emulate the Virtual fighter 2 game perfect.
"Porting a game between two different architectures and retaining quality is rarely a straightforward task, but if you're re-releasing VF2 on something many times more powerful, anything less than arcade perfect is unacceptable, especially given the developer's amazing ability to squeeze a higher spec game like Virtua Fighter 4 onto the PS2 and keep the game looking fabulous."
"The reason for the underperformance is that AM2 decided to emulate the Model 2 hardware directly on PS2 - quite an inefficient way to go about recreating VF2 in terms of what all the processors are up to, leaving less resources for the detail itself. It's really just unacceptable, even for a budget title."

The Sega Saturn verision is.
Actually, the Saturn port of Virtua Fighter 2 was not near arcade perfect but still, it was an incredible conversion taken into account the system's limited 3D capabilities and programming difficulties.
The Dreamcast port of Virtua Fighter 3tb, developed by Genki was sadly an arcade imperfect translation mostly because the game was rushed to meet the system's launch.

Tekken 5 for PS2 had arcade perfect ports on previous Tekken 1, 2, 3. I'm sure Sega could've easily put this similar options in VF4 Evo. Although playing the classic titles are nostalgic but personally I'd rather play VF5 with character models from the previous VF series instead. Who knows it may be one of the hidden items you can buy/unlock in VF5? :P

Lets just say the PS2 version of Virtual Fighter 2 is the closest you'll get to playing VF2 arcade. It's miles ahead of the Saturn, PC, and Genesis version.

I'm still waiting for an arcade perfect Virtua Fighter 3 port. That Genki developed mess for the DC wasn't what I expected..

OK it's close, but not close enough and that's the bottom line...
There still remains no arcade perfect version of it, Sega-Ages tried with a PS2 release in Japan and it flopped. http://boards2.sega.com/sega_board/viewtopic.php?t=52692

Quoting me from the past  I said that after reading the same reviews you saw from gamespot before I bought the game. The game itself once you play it is actually not that bad, and seeing its the highest arcade port version made its a great buy.

I suggest you better read those reviews/previews again and try to find the original arcade machine:

The difference here is the VF2 arcade is being scaled, while the PS2 is being deinterlaced, this is highly unnoticable if played off of a CRT. This is a very nitpicky argument, the game plays just the same as the arcade.

Don't be ridiculous, the PS2 version has some SERIOUS issues with texture quality and level of detail. I mean, just look at this:
http://img39.exs.cx/img39/6818/vf5.jpg
"Unfortunately, it's still not an arcade-perfect port."
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3134992
"Sega Ages: Virtua Fighter 2 is a definite bummer for VF purists. Not only is the game ugly, but the control also isn't what it should be"
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/virtuafighter2/story.html?sid=6111482
"while it may play like the arcade, it certainly doesn't look like it. Upon closer inspection, while we were right that the game doesn't look exactly like the arcade, the problems run a lot deeper than image quality issues."
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/557/557075p1.html
"The graphics look really cubodial on the PS2 and the background textures don’t look that great either. The textures look really pixilated and washed out, not arcade perfect."
http://www.siliconera.com/ps2/savirtuafighter2/041020.htm
"The Saturn conversion of VF2 was a marvellous achievement for AM2 at the time, and despite replacing the polygonal backgrounds with 2D graphics, is still a more respectful and impressive conversion than this PS2 remake."
http://games.kikizo.com/reviews/ps2/virtuafighter2_segaages.asp
"Model 2 is an old board, so its method of displaying polygons is old and it uses technology and techniques of the time. It was tough for the staff to reproduce it on the PS2." — Hiroshi Kataoka, SEGA-AM2 president.

Here are the Good News! :D
Kikizo: Looking at Sega Ages series, you must be aware that re-releases of older games can prove very popular. Services like Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Store and Wii Virtual Console are taking this opportunity further - so how about some perfect remakes of VF1, VF2 or especially VF3? Or perhaps other Model 1/2/3 titles too?
Makoto Osaki: The major point here is that there needs to be loads of demand from the players. If there is a place of business in it, there would be no reason to hesitate to develop remakes, but I believe this matter should be determined after more elaborate research.
http://games.kikizo.com/features/sega_am2_interview_mar07_p1.asp
Yu Suzuki: Based on a lot of market research we did, we found that Virtua Fighter 2 had been the most popular of the three. We analyzed Virtua Fighter 2 and it was the most well liked.
