View Full Version : Getting a little bummed about my squad

My squad is mostly Privates & Recruits with one Colonel and one Major.
I am a Pvt 1st Class.
Here's what's bugging me.... My Colonel and Major are really cool guys to play with and fun. BUT, they don't seem to have any clue about tactics. We NEVER discuss strategy about what houds to use, how to approach, etc. And, during the match, if things aren't going right, neither of them offers any suggestions as to tactical direction.
Last night, we're playing in the desert 4 on 4. We have one TC, 2 soldiers, and one Sniper. Only tactics they give us is "Stay together". So.. I see everyone running in a large group directly towards the enemy. I follow because those are my instructions. We crest a hill and see two snipers in the distance and a soldier approaching. We immediately start getting pegged by the snipers. The Colonel and Major aren't saying anything but "We'll he just got my gun" and "What the heck are these guys doing to get us so fast". That's IT! No direction at all. They both just sit there trying to approach head on. We are in a wide open area trying to approach head on agains snipers who have a beat on our position. Zero chance of winning IMO.
During this match mind you I was saying "Let's fall back and flank them... they've got a beat on us with the snipers." "We have to try and sneak up on them". I received no reponse and everyone just kept trying to charge straight ahead. I'm fairly new and I understood that we weren't going to win that way. However... nobody will listen to me because I'm just a noob and they are higher ranks.
I'm starting to think that these guys acheived their ranks by only playing computer missions. All we do is charge straight ahead and get slaughtered 95% of the time. Then after the match, they start talking about how we aren't good enough to face humans yet and we start going on more computer missions.
Are most squads like this or should I find a new one?

ya i always have a strategy, and sometimes as zaha might tell you my strategy is bound to fail, but when it does i knew it would from the beginning, but that dont happen very often.

Pure is very good, he just did something that at the time made me :):):):) on his shoes. LOL
Anyway, my recommendation is to either:
A.) Recruit someone (or take it upon yourself) who has no problem taking charge on the battlefield. Even if you fail, at least you can work with cohesion that way, and learn from your mistakes. You'd get better with time.
B.) Join a squad that not only strategies are implemented, but training is a constant (SuicidalJestyrs, Bladoris's squad, is a nice place to start).
But your regiment definately requires change if you want to win.

That's because you're menaces to sobriety.
The sad part is, you still pull off consistant victories...
...Makes us wonder how horrible we really are, losing constantly to a bunch of drunk clams, of all things. LOL
Next, the butterflies will invade and no one will know what to do, because no one suspects the butterfly.

Not us Clams ... we lose about 1/4 of what we play.
Yesterday I was in a 3v3 and we were saying "NOOBS !!!!"
We played them twice
We won none ...
It is like drunk boxing, we just go out swinging and hope we hit someting :D

You guys don't know the half of it.
In CPU matches, 5v5, we are lucky if 2 of us are left to kill the CPU hunds.

They're the type to go into Free Battle, build a 12 DD on chicken legs hound at some 20,000 tons, and honestly question the others in the lobby why they can't deploy.
LOL
Sorry Food, love the Clams lol

This is exactly why I have armor on the back of my mech ;)
It's usually the new guy in the squad saying something like "I don't know who's who?" or "We should all be the same color!" yet they themselves are the only one not sporting squad paint...
Gotta love it :)

It's proven, and the best 'aiming juice' is squashed berrygum fruit extract. =D Don't ask me what that means, I just know it's the truth. -- Because I said so. WHOOSH. Oh and sniff a coffin before each match, it gives you a boost in confidence and self moral!

I think for starters don't let your rank influence your descions after all that has nothing to do with stragety. You seem like you have the makings of a grand leader based on the fact you have analysed your own faults. The first thing I would do is point out the lack of tatics to the others and go from there. The big part about knowing what to do on sertant maps is what hounds to bring. For Ex. 1) If your in a city no snipers. The rest will come to gather over time. The "High Rankers in your sqaud don't sound like the type who should lead. Rank can after all be gained thru killing cans(CPU). To end this when your in doubt tell your sqaud to bring what there comfortable with. Then assign sertant goals Ex. Slowest guy grabs closest comb & Fastest guy grabs farthest combas. Snipers/heavy gunners at begining of match should search for enemy troop movement. Remeber you can win 3 ways 1)killing enemy. 2)more combas at end of match 3)Destruction of base.
P.S. When you loose check the squad history you'll be suprised most sqauds have trade mark tatics and hound builds. Then analys what they did to win/and what you did to loose. Then use it on your next opponet.
