i heard in 1.5, you will either not permaflight at all, or will stay airborn for much shorter amounts of time. sorry if this is old, but what do yall think? would that realky help? i doubt it, right now PF grenade and missile mechs are fairly easy to counter, its the rifle mechs, that know what they are doing, that are harder to deal with, they can use flares to easily counter missiles, and often stay out of range or dogde much else, if it becomes impossible to PF with much else besides rifles, geuss what

CONT.... is going to become much more popular... im not tryin to :):):):):), im not sayin rifles are cheap, but i dont think any mech should be that versatile, IMO when alot of people use the same thing, then there not that much variety, its not much fun...

All I have to say is this:
Bring it on!
It has been my PERSONAL OPINION (I'm not saying that you're wrong if you disagree...hence the nature of opinions) that the energy scheme in this game has been one of the most grievous oversights they committed.
It could just be that I'm too "old school", but the energy scheme in the older Armored Core games (particularly AC2) needed just a small boost in the capacities to make it really enjoyable. I know they were going for a speedy approach, but what it ended up being was turning the game into "Ace Core 4". When the majority of battles take place aerially, and if you don't go up you're pretty much screwed, there's a problem I say.[/i]

Im new to the series and to the style of gameplay but flying seems maybe like it should take up more energy, I mean I can get my
choochoothejetplane in the air and never land once, that would be ok if I wasnt the ehaviest thing avaible.
There are certain setps ive done where flying wasnt a forever kinda thing but it did go dwn slow, just shift the upper half of the parts list downa little bit 4 ez nerf.
edit: i was gonna fix my errors^ but im too depressed with my initial submission.

I agree and disagree.
I have a couple of permaflights, but they're not my prefferred type of mech, I tend to go with heavily defended AC's. So as you can imagine sometimes Permaflights are a problem for me when i'm piloting one of my big mechs.

well it might work well i dont know, it just seems like it would require them to rebalance EVERYthing, from grenades to overboosters, luckily if i cant stand it i can go back to 1.4

I'm glad they are possibly (Not checked out 1.5 yet) toning down Permaflights. If they wanted to make something like that they should have made a Gundam game rather than an Armoured Core Game.
One little question though. How you make a permaflight Mech in the first place? I generally use a Supplice clone (Yes I am a Rifler) so it won't be something I'll use often, but I'd like to know if I've already made something by accident (Hell my Supplice clone could very well be tuned for Perma Flight).

I usually do it by taking the
super heavy generator
Which ever main booster gives me the most cost effective vertical thrust
then max out EN output and capacity.
I know this is probably just a basic way, but my mechs do fly forever with average performance....except that Zealot mech i made...damn that thing is fast.

well i consider something 'permaflight' when i can overboost in the air and run out of energy, but i dont have to land... or just not having the bar go down at all, this is usually achieved buy having an efficient main booster (judith or polaris), and having a low overall EN cost (things like missiles, lasers, and high PA effective Core parts increase EN cost, which means your en bar depletes faster). the problem is, a rifle mech can stay airborn, use flares to easily counter missiles, keep a safe distance

from things like machine guns, shot guns, laser cannons etc, and QUICK BOOST side to side almost indefinately... the only guaranteed threats to them are sniper weapons from what ive seen... but theres always ring around the cover... i use them to, and it takes skill, but i dont think its balanced,

I have a Permaflight that uses Double Karasawas.
