Since nobody seems interested in my glitch topic, and because I'm playing the game anyway, I feel it's time for a time attack topic under proper management.
A few simple rules:
-You can use either version of the game, but please mention which version, because I will segment it as such.
-If you post any rediculously good times, I may ask you to show some sort of proof.
-Glitches that help you in any way may be used, but I may need some proof if it results in something rediculously good.
-For Gamma's times, the idea is to aim as high as possible, and I want times posted as such.
-Since Big's stages don't have timers, we won't include him.
-Any abnormal emulator settings, hacked files, or special controllers that may affect your ability to get good times are illegal.
I may add more as I think of it...

All my records are for the DC version. It's a good thing that you're ranking SA and DX differently, because the differences between them are actually HUGE.
Emerald Coast with Sonic in 1:08:64 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxDL8Lg9d-0
Sonic in Windy Valley 1:34:29 and Speed Highway 1:18:21 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seK-cvVpFoI (I'm pretty sure my best times for both of these levels is better but i'll have to check.)
Casinopolis with Sonic in 0:19:43 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuOI7fYUlF8
I've also got Tail's Windy Valley in 0:29:39 but I haven't uploaded that video as that's pretty unspectacular (well most of my vids are but I didn't think they were at the time I uploaded them) but I can upload it if you want.
Also, can you make it a rule so that things like special controllers and abnormal emulator settings are illegal? Because say, for Sonic's windy valley, the world record is something like 1:15-1:20, but with a special 3rd party controller, it can apparently be done in about 1 minute.
Also people, don't post obviously fake times like some people do in other time attack topics :P

I added Marbarian's times, as well as a few of my own. I'll get some records in the remaining Metal Sonic slots, then go to bed.
BTW, Marbarian, don't upload that video on my behalf. Windy Valley's layout makes your Tails time believable, considering your previous accomplishments.

C'mon, don't tell me that me and marbarian are the only ones interested in time attack around here.

Haha, I was just about to bump this.
I'll go check on what some of my other times for Sonic are, but some of them really, really suck.
Also SadisticMystic will probably post here if he sees this thread.

I kinda guessed Sadisticmystic would see this thing sooner or later, and most of my times aren't even attempts at perfection. I just went to the trial mode on my most complete file and posted the times I alerady had on there. I tried to get good times of Gamma's, Knuckles', and Metal Sonic's stages, but I didn't try REAL hard.

Here's some of my other Sonic times, these aren't too good though
Ice Cap 2:18:04

Red Mountain 2:25:79
Oh and yeah, my best for Speed Highway is 1:17:48, but I don't have a video of it.

I updated your guys' times. As for myself, several of my times have made considerable improvement. I'll update my own later tonight.

Awesome. Also if you check SM's topic you'll see he's got a bunch of records there that could be added.
Next record I get, i'll probably try and do Final Egg in about 10 seconds.

I hear a lot about that Final Egg quick completion glitch, but I've never actually seen it in action. I'm updating my times now.
EDIT: I finished updating. Most of my improvements are pretty unimpressive, with only small incriments of time shaven off. A few points of interest are in the Tails and Gamma sections. Tails' Windy Valley, after actually trying to get a good time, takes a massive drop to 0:26:51. Sky Deck is also considerably improved, becoming 0:32:25 the rest of my times are just barely above FANNIETHEPIG. His Speed Highway time beats mine by not even a second. For Gamma, I have Hot Shelter, which goes up to 3:39:41. This officially makes all my Gamma records above 3 minutes. Windy Valley goes up slightly, to 6:36:86.

Here's someone doing it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5R7k4lMJwU
Thanks to a trick I learned from someone I might be able to do it without having to charge two spin dashes though

I took some time from my busy schedule to look over my SADX time records. I found some Sonic and Amy times that are only seconds lower that Moon Walker's, But I figured I'd post them any way. I also improved my Tails Time in Speed Highway.

Updated your times, FANNIETHEPIG. BTW, Marbarian, how do you do a double spindash?

I actually have no idea, hahaha. I've never tried Final Egg using the standard method before.

For how long it's been since I made an update, this one is fairly pathetic. Tails once again makes several improvements, knocking Sky Deck down to 00:28:45, and I claim the Speed Highway score just barely, with 1:01:28. Amy makes a single improvement in Final Egg, dropping a whole 30 seconds from my previous record, and 15 seconds from the previous record holder. A simple matter of luck when it comes to the random door room makes all the difference. Metal Sonic and Sonic both make minor improvements.
However, the biggest thing I have to discuss is on the topic of glitches.
Concerning the Final Egg quick completion glitch, it is possible to break the boundries in that area in SADX without the use of the so-called, 'double spindash'. However, in SADX, there appears to be no capsule. This makes the quick completion glitch in SADX null and void. To try it for yourself, simply spindash towards the dash panels while in between them and the ramp you must hit. It requires precise timing, but jumping off the ramp at the right place after getting launched off the dash panels (while still in ball mode) allows you to fly up. If you go high enough, breaking the boundries is as simple as leaning over to the left wall.
Speed Highway offers some great exploration. With Sonic, I can run on a road that only Tails should be able to access. This is not very cool, but the vice versa is quite amazing. With Tails, reach the checkpoint inside the building that leads to the large circular structure. You see a dash ring that launches you forward. Hit it, and immediately go the other direction, your destination is that roadway with the ramp at the end, and the boost ring gives you enough height to get up to it. Hit the dash panels and launch yourself into the air. At the apex of your launch, break into flying power. If you know the general layout of the stage, you should know that the building Sonic enters that Tails doesn't is very close by. Fly toward it, and, with your height, you should be able to fly above it, breaking the boundries. Now fly into it as you make your decent. As you pass by the fake surface, you see the boundries of a hallway. Land in it, towards the middle (that's where the transfer point is). You now find yourself falling (not running) down the large building in Sonic's section. You are now clear off the map that you started on, with no way to backtrack. Eggman is still in the race though, so if you can reach the capsule in the city part of Speed Highway before Eggman reaches the missile, you can still win.
(...or can you?...)

Yeah, the Final Egg glitch doesn't work in SADX, I think the best times for Final Egg on SADX are around the one minute mark. There's other things like Casinopolis is way easier on DC. But in SADX, Lost World has the advantage, for example.

I made another minor update. A few seconds shaven off of some of Sonic's and Metal Sonic's times. I actually haven't been playing this game a lot. I've had wavering game interests lately, and it's a rare occasion that I even get time off to play games at all, but I hope to concentrate on this game more.
I have found some extremely entertaining glitches lately. They revolve around the light speed dash.
I have in fact discovered how to do the double spindash. It has to do with different buttons performing the same action. In this case, the action buttons. Lets use Gamecube as an example. Charge a light speed dash with the B button. Then, when fully charged, press the X button. Sonic will begin to charge a second light speed dash. This changes nothing, but by releasing both B and X while charging a second time, you can spindash. However, you must be quick to hold both B and X again, because Sonic will attempt to light dash a split second after letting go. This breaks Sonic from the spindash, but simply press A while pressing the others to do the super leap that any good Sonic Adventure series player should know how to do.
Also, something that helps you in no way, but is quite entertaining, once more manipulate the multiple action buttons, but rather that charging a second spindash, walk up to something you can pick up, and press the second action button. You will pick it up without leaving light speed mode. release all action buttons, and you can move around while in light speed mode carrying an object.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the fastest time that anyone has ever done in Emerald Coast on the Dreamcast, ever.
